In this tutorial, I'll show you how to create advanced unique styles for limbs using Rubberhose 2 from Battleaxe. Rubberhose is a fully-featured Character rigging tool for After Effects. We'll go beyond the basics and I'll show you how to dial in the look of your character's limbs exactly the way you want to. Just because we're using Rubberhose for rigging doesn't mean we have to have super cartoony bendy limbs!

It's so great to see how useful the native taper system can be in combination with rubber hose. Fantastic video as always Jake. I can't wait to play around with this stuff.
Jake, you're becoming one of the best (if not the best) After Effect You-tuber. Thank you for your kind spirit and expertise.
Just started watching it and already excited!
I'm not used to do character design that much but this is very easy to understand ! Thanks Jake !
Great tut Jake as always. Please make a comparison video Limber vs Rubberhose. Will greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
really useful thanks, definitely sat there and thought how do i make this look less like the stock rubberhose!
Wow, great stuff! Thanks
thanks, it actually let me through so i could download it.
Always the best! Thanks!!
Damn it, kid, you did it again. BRAVO!!!
Thank you for the nice tricks from the Tapper. I figured out some of the tricks from using Rubberhose and how to optimize to achieve new options for the limbs. This new tutorial is really helpful for the future since I'm using RubberHose a lots.
Absolutely interesting
thannkk you! yes guys this does work
Hi Jake. Really love your work. Could you share your final working file of this video?
Thanks mate, pretty cool stuff. How would you go about adding a feathered shadow/highlight to a hose? I've tried doing it by duplicating the hose and adding a feathered mask but unfortunately the mask doesn't move with the hose. Any thoughts?
A week ago I saw your competition with Ben Marriott, and it was insane, I loved it❣🥰🤤... What caught my attention beyond all the magic was the faux 3D, could you please teach me how to do it....🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What is the difference between limber and rubberhose? Jake
Which one should we use in which scenario?
thx
thanks merci shukran
This is the best free software Ive seen. Respect.
How do you think about using other peoples artwork in you projects? I’m definitely not a character designer either so in my most recent project I’m using other artwork. I got it from Freepics so from my understanding I have permission to as long as I credit the artist. Which of course I will! I still just feel unsure about it. I love your tutorials though! They are entertaining and informative!
Great
Would love to see how you linked the hands and feet to the ends of the rubber hose
Those were actually just separate layers parented to the Rubber Hose controllers.
great vid. tutorial about RubberPIN please please please
Yes!!!
hey Jake, motion 4 is released please make video about it
a tutorial with the tool deekay tool could be possible. have you tried this one ?
amazing video jake! but can you please tell Which one is better betwin robbehose and duik? i myself think that duik is a little better, because you just create the bones straight forword on your design without having to recreate the hole thing in a harder way. this is my opinion as a newbie so pls dont mind me if im wrong
I'm actually making a video comparing Duik, Limber and RubberHose 3, so stay tuned for that!
@@JakeInMotion thank you for your Response❤️ cant wait for that! Keep up the amazing content
Is there any way to get a stroke or outline on the outside?
it's time for "RubberHose V3"
Rubber hose is great, but sadly it slows the ram preview of the project very much :/
make a tutorial with rubber hose for walk cycle
Quick question: does Rubberhose have sliders to setup head turns and expressions?
No, there are no facial rigging features. Duik Angela is a great option for that.
So how would the hand be added to the rig? Just parenting to the wrist?
Yes. It's parented to the wrist controller.
13:29 Can't you use masks there? They seem to be solving this problem 🤔 (But I’m not sure, I haven’t worked with masks inside a layer for a long time)
💖💖💖
Do you have to rebuild every character in rubberhose? I thought you would just be able to animate shape layers?
You can use the rubberrig and rubberpin systems to rig artwork without rebuilding anything. The rubberhose system runs on shape layers.
@@JakeInMotion thanks jake. I'm just getting into character rigging so thanks for the reply. Love your content.
Hi, I installed the Rubber hose 2 script, but when I create a hose, I cannot change its color because there is no color option in the contents section, and the search does not show the color option. Please help me.
Make sure to select the hose layer and not one of its controllers. Since the hose is a shape layer, you can also change its color like any other shape layer with it selected up in the top toolbar.
@@JakeInMotion Sorry, my problem is that when I create a hose in the Content and Style options
BaseHose is not available for me to make changes.
In addition, in the Transform option, all the numbers are red and cannot be changed if they should be blue.
Please make a tutorial with photoshop characters.
It's on the list.
How does Rubberhose differ from Duik? Should I have both?
School of Motion made a video on exactly this question: th-cam.com/video/B-v8A9ZdqL4/w-d-xo.html
@@JakeInMotion Thank you! I'll check it out.

thanks for the tutorial but files are not free
They are "pay what you want", so you can type in $0 to download for free.
I hate that new simplified style
