- “I just wanted to help”: A simple phrase that sums up the incredible charity and community work of Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Will Vaulks, someone we are proud to call a Baton of Hope ambassador.
Will recently won the EFL overall Player in the Community, being recognised as an outstanding supporter of good causes from across the entire English Football League.
Here he speaks to our co-founder Mike McCarthy, discussing topics including how he lost both his grandads, Tom and Hywel, to suicide when he was a teenager, why he feels driven to prevent other families being affected by suicide and the importance of the Baton of Hope conference, at which Will is appearing as a speaker.
Our conference, Making Suicide Prevention Everyone’s Business, is at The Octagon Centre in Sheffield on 16th May 2024. Get your tickets here: eventbrite.co.uk/e/making-suicide-prevention-everyones-business-tickets-615488882817
