just to add a comment for anyone planning this on the 38 forks- You don't need to buy the whole part like in this video, you just buy the rod... 180mm 170mm or 160mm (I think on the 38's you cannot go any less than 160mm) - I just changed mine from 180mm to 160mm (easy peasy... just purchase the rod you want from suntour website) - (I required a soft jaw vice to loosen the bottom nut...and I used a hex spanner through the eyelet.... was easy.. cheers
The premise was pretty much the same on the fox 34 I had. I bought a new airshaft to bump the travel up 10mm. I don't think I "needed" any special tools. It did have grease and oil though! I had to buy some specific tools to work on my Manitou fork though! Really like tooling on my bikes!
Hi, thank you for the video. Are you sure you're going from 150mm to 140mm? I can't seem to find a 140mm shaft; even though I want to switch from 160mm to 140mm, the smallest airshaft on the market is 150mm.
Curious if you can add a 10mm clip spacer to the shaft on the negative chamber side to adjust the travel and get a similar effect to a vorsprung luftcapp. I dont know if you'd start smash fork internals together though.
As a car mechanic I’d never dream of trying something like this, taking the spring off a strut alone can put a hole in your brick wall haha, think I might change career choices.
Was there any oil in the lowers. I figured there would be some from the factory considering the new forks come with bleed/oil ports just under the seals.
Hello, I have the same bike, I don't like the fork at all, you have tried Sr Suntour, what do you think of Zeron or Aion, they have an excellent price, is it worth the change?
What did you hate about the stock fork? I didn't find it bad. I'm currently running a SR Suntour Durolux 36 and loving it. I have no experience with the Aion or Zeron unfortunately.
If you can cut it without making the gold coating break off the end, it should work. Not knowing what the coating is made of would make me scared to try. If you fail you'll need a new shaft anyways, so it might be worth it to buy the correct length assembly and keep the original in case you want to change back.
@ToogyHowser sorry for the late reply. XCR, seems like it will not hold more than 60 psi. Any idea? I brought it up to 90 today, and after a few minutes of riding back down. It needs to cleaned for sure.
It would be interesting to have an explanation why Sr Suntour opted for this. Maybe for ease of service. Seems like they are going for ease of service.

So you how i can replace the head of the airshaft? IT IS so thight!
great video! can you sell the 150mm air shaft to me if you dont need it.
I just order a suntour xcr34 air boost in 130mm. Can I change it to 120mm with spacers?
Technically other than changing the airshaft.
What you did was a full service on the fork? correct?
more of a lower leg service

How to change travel for Axon werx34 eq from 100 to 120mm?
where are you from? i have a 120mm i want to convert to 100
maybe we can trade airshafts haha
@@JovenMatthewRafaelC. I think we are very far away; I am from Colombia.
Получается air shaft можно разобрать и укоротить на токарном станке..?

How to 100mm travel, for example using on mtb slopestyle suntour forks
I have been told by Suntour you can get airshafts as low as 100mm for the Durolux
What if we have an older xc fork that leaks......
which model?

So strange that there is no oil. I wonder how a Rockshox or Fox would perform without oil.

I'm not sure, but it really does make service easier and less intimidating.
I thought it still requires 80wt oil on both legs?? Or is that just the Aion?
This is great, unfortunately, if i buy an air shaft from suntour, price doubles because of the shipping. 😢
It's not easy, hard to buy airshaft where I'm from
Oh man, you are from Russia ?
@@degtarev3484😂 south east Asia, I actually sold my axon werx 100mm and purchased a 120mm last week (currently on sale equivalent to $300)
What do you mean by EQ fork?
EQ technology from sr suntour
nuh. same with rockshox travel adjust rod.
