thank you again for this channel (C&A) I really appreciate it. Honestly, I've been a big fan of Avenged Sevenfold since I was little, and I really idolized the late (The Rev). Because of him I can become a drummer now and am very inspired by him. anything about avenged sevenfold I will follow. I beg you to make a C&A for the reaction of Avenged Sevenfold live from Hollywood full. It was the live debut of Sevenfold's new drummer since The Rev, Mike Portnoy, and Arin Llejay. I beg for a reaction to this video 🙏🙏🙏 Thank you for this channel, success continues, I will always support you, God bless
The drums were performed by Mike Portnoy, most commonly known from Twisted Sister and Dream Theatre. He was also Jimmy "the rev" sullivans idol. The vocals "Skull" and "They all know" were performed by M. Shadows but they were originally done by Jimmy, however according to Matt you could barely understand what he was saying, however Matt could never do it as well as Jimmy. He sung "only" twice because again, originally Jimmy sung that so they wanted to keep it as close to the original as they could.
@@xerodelacroix5552 that’s what I thought too but Matt’s voice is put over it because Jimmy’s wasn’t actually usable, if you listen close enough you can hear 2 voices. They put Matt’s over it and tried matching the pitch because Jimmy’s couldn’t be understood
@@Jeshky2004 That was on Fiction, the "I hope it's worth it..." line was so mumbled that they doubled Matt's voice over it. They also did similar with Buried Alive as there is a version of it with Jimmy on lead vocals but it's gibberish to get a vocal melody down, so unfortunately they had to scrap it. There's also a version of Nightmare with Jimmy on drums but it was done at his home with an electronic kit and they couldn't make the MIDI drums work in the mix (though Portnoy pretty much redid them hit for hit). The "SKULL!" in the intro of this was all Jimmy, it's literally explained in the album booklet that they found him just screaming "SKULL" on a hard drive in the studio, so they decided to put his presumable last vocal recording in the last song on Nightmare. All of Jimmy's vocal parts are also written in red in the booklet, "Skull" and most of Fiction are red, meaning they were him. I don't recall offhand what color they used for Jimmy and Matt together, but that is also in the booklet on Fiction, Buried Alive and the "they all know" in Save me. So you are partially correct, but the "SKULL!" growl was Jimmy and Jimmy alone. If you need further proof of this, listen to the CLA mix of Almost Easy, it's Matt and Jimmy's voices layered over each other because originally Jimmy sang a lot more of that song. It sounds totally different. They're voices together didn't sound like the "Skull" in Save Me.
I am so happy you reacted to this song!!! This song has so much to it. The Rev was the crazy, fun friend. Insanity walked right out the door, was the Rev leaving them. The band almost quit when he passed. They had like 90% of this, Nightmare, album written before he passed. Only two songs weren’t changed, Nightmare & Danger line. Because of the fans encouragement, & their love for the Rev, they got Mike Portnoy to help record it, & he toured with them, to promote it, & hopefully make the Rev’s last work, become #1, in honor of him. Thank you, again. Great reaction!!! 🥰
Every time i listen to fiction, so far away and save me (the 3 songs that are dedicated to the rev) i start tearing, really. these songs were written from the depths or their hearts, this is how they overcame the sorrow. Really, this man did not deserve to day. Sometimes im wondering how would the band be today if this legendary unforgettable drummer wouldnt have died. Each and every one of these songs tell a story, every lyric is from their hearts
Your comment of this song referring to the stages of grief really made me look at this song at an entirely different angle! Before I thought it was just a badass song with insane drums!
I don't know if you guys got the real meaning because The Rev wrote a ton of the song. He wrote the lyrics "tonight, we all die young" for the chorus, but then M. Shadows changed it because it didn't sound right. Then Matt wrote the other chorus and put the original one at the end of the song. Also, they let Mike Portnoy go crazy on the drums for this song so that's why the drums are crazy. Loved the reaction as always! ❤❤
The song is from the album "Nightmare", and all the songs from that album have a connection with The Rev, maybe you can see it that way. Good reaction btw
@@cadifferentreactions As explained by Matt in "Avenged Sevenfold Presents Breakdown: "Save me": The Rev wrote a lot of the parts of the song, but they were initially arranged in ways that didn't flow very well, it was all over the place. So I assume that's why. They wanted to make a song that flows well while also keeping all the amazing parts written by The Rev?
This song just reflects the magnificence of Dream Theater. The Rev's favorite drummer was Mike Portnoy who was asked to drum on this album after The Rev passed away. You need to react to Dream Theater to see why they influenced Avenged Sevenfold. I recommend Dream Theater's mind-blowing epic called The Glass Prison from Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.
The secret to listen this song and really feel what it means it's to listen to it like the phases of the grief.... Just it. You have anger, sadness, questions, doubts.... So many things happen in grief... This music makes you feel all of them. And it's about it acording to them.
As a big an A7X fan you will find, I appreciate the sincerity yall' give to these videos. No gimmick. Yes The Rev is a thought in lots of their songs for obvious brotherhood reasons. And was in the argument as best rock drummer on the planet when he was still alive. Anywho thank you!!

I think, by this time you had heard Fiction which was the drummer’s reaction to his impending death and his goodbye letter and advice to the band. This song is the band trying to cope with the loss of their drummer. So they are angry and they are crying and they don’t understand. They spend the whole song trying to make sense of their drummer’s death.
