I am 53. I was allowed to watch him. Back in the days when people had a sense of humour. He would make us double up with laughter and what he says is so true.
Hard to believe this is twenty years old and still makes me laugh like i.ve never seen it before classic, still remember taping this on a vhs tape when i was fourteen,
Watching Dave in 2019 and remembering the shows fondly growing up as a young boy. I hope, as he always used to say at the end of his shows, that his God went with him. Brilliance ahead of his time.......
I used to be a fan of him when I was in England from 1971 to 1976 . Now I am in India I watch him every day it's nearly 2020 days away I tell yeah . Long live Dave Allen .
It is his talent for telling the story, it surpasses ordinary comedy - the storytellers are always the most valued out of All. I love that brain of his.
I was walking down Kensington Church St about the time this was filmed, and I saw Dave hanging out his window adjusting his window plant. I had a quick chat with him, and he was the nicest bloke you could wish to meet. A true friendly gent, and tremendously funny guy.
Thankyou for sharing this. I remember it live and recorded it on vhs with a video recorder the size of a sherman tank! Lol Been looking for this sketch. An absolute classic, from the very underated, but brilliant to those that loved him,-Dave Allen. R.I.P Sir and thanks for the laughs.
Dave Allen was simply at his very best during the 1990’s here when ITV just let him run free on this show with far fewer restrictions than when he was with the stuffy BBC, which I feel during his time with them didn’t properly let him showcase just how funny he could actually be. For me the 90’s was his true golden era. Best stand up comedian ever.
I,ll Go as far as to say Dave Allen was probably the first comedian to use everyday observations and include them into his stand up routine. The man was simply a genius and without doubt the greatest comedian ever.RIP Dave.
I had similar problems with socks as a kid - and still do now at nearly 60! My mother used to use elastic bands on my socks - and often put ankle socks on me - they are called ankle socks for a reason - they didn’t go above the ankles - often came off my feet altogether and I often found them inside of my shoes - as to kecks (trousers), they were also several sizes too big and often had me wearing belts that never lasted long or braces that made me walk like a chimpanzee! Blame that on all that PG Tips!
THIS BLOODY HORRIBLE WINTER HAS BEEN EASIER TO BEAR WHEN I CAN GO WATCH DAVE WITH MY HOT CHOCOLATE AND BISCUITS AT NIGHT - HE'S A CLASSY BLOKE - MAKES ME PROUD TO BE PART IRISH
@@maureenoboyle3739 i agree, so many reasons to be proud to be Irish, Dave Allen, the rugby, River dance, the Kennedys, Bill Clinton ... etc ! I am not Irish myself but love so much this country that I feel it my own !
No matter how crazy life is Dave always makes me laugh. Starving children! Now I'm OCD. Great training for adulthood dah 🤐 . Totally brilliant. Nobody has come near him.
I grew up in England in the 60's. Whenever my mother took me out " somewhere special " & didn't think I "looked up to scratch facially" she would spit on a hanky & wipe my face!... WHY? ... Were mothers specially trained to do that by their mothers in those days? ........YES it did happen! ......Thanks for reminding me Dave! NOT!........ RESPECT!
Thanks for uploading these classics - have loved Dave Allen since childhood :-) Anyone have a clue where I might find his 1986 New Year's Eve special, or a series I think was called Dave Allen And Friends? All help greatly appreciated! :-)

I am 80 plus and when little my mother would wipe my face with her hanky and mucus and i could always smell that mucus. I hated it. so that is a very true story from Davy.

I am 63. My dad would never miss Dave on telly back in the 70s! Neither would we. Hillarious then! Still is now. Miss him.
Favorite line. See they made homosexuality legal. Pause drink. I am thinking of leaving before they make it compulsory

Fantastic stuff- rare talent. God bless Dave
@keefy1106so why is it in one of these shows he talks about God? just saying
@keefy1106 Himself maybe, but he never sneered at anybody else's belif. He always ended 'May YOUR God go with you'.
@@David.L291Aren't disbelievers allowed to talk about God then?
The best. Cry with laughter. Always reminds me of my dad.

I don't believe he was underrated. Maybe we just didn't have this adoration cult for people on TV that people seem to be afflicted with nowadays
the audience's laughter is just as contagious
before Covid, thank God

Yes, i agree- the 1993 ITV series was his peak- he went from being a superb sit down comedian to the best stand up of all.

Could you imagine Aunt Catherine’s funeral? From what Dave Allen says about her you’d need a JCB!
