Very nice especially on winter pump gas @ 19psi with that timing correction. What that dyno illustrates is exactly what we wanted to do (power still climbing up top to 7000rpms) where the Oem is dead in the lower 5000ss. Average power over a broad range of rpm is what makes cars fast and drives perfect & that's what that turbo does very well. We have another car that makes 35psi by 2900 rpms & is north of 700whp on e50. That turbo is a perfect universal turbo & will do extremely well on a Rd course. Lastly I wouldn't get wrapped up to much in 60-130 times as it really don't illustrate how 1 car stacks up against another in a race from 60. That run looked like he just hit the gas, no break boost or anti lag etc. We have cars in the 7s on pump gas but fuel quality is much better & psi is 3-4 more etc.. Great job man!
my 440 ultraflow and a friends 340 hypercore is tuned through subpar tuning and well and he has clearly stated to us that e40 is our race maps and the other maps are not pushing the car that much (not race maps). other tuners could extract more from 93 or lower ethanol levels however this way my car stays safe and i keep my transmission alive longer so i am happy with it.
Thanks for sharing! Typical whp number for upgraded turbo on pump gas but torque is a little low. I wonder if a top tier gas 93 like shell would’ve made a difference. For instance on my N54 I made 477whp and 476wtq on upgraded turbos with 91acn which is the worst fuel you can get in the country and IAT over 100 degrees but it was on shell gas
Hey Kern, great video. I am curious how the 1/4 mile time would have been on 93, maybe can circle back to it and do a 1/4 mile comparison for 93 oct vs E
Could he run around finding a dyno reading over 500 & a lot more tq sure those dynos are everywhere tbh but this looks more like a legit dyno & I always tell people don't worry about the # worry about the results (use the same dyno to see accurate changes) is what's most important
Kern may you please make a video on which is more reliable, The gen1 or gen2 b58? I more concerned about which is more reliable when tuned to make around 500hp because let's be honest who keeps it stock😂
Curious to see if the timing improves with Shell 93 instead of that non top tier Speedway gas 🤢Glad to hear you had good luck with Doug, unfortunately he wasn't able to dial in my 340i GC after 20+ revisions (kicking myself for not going flow max, vargas customer service is the worst). Odin had me dialed in after 4 revs, why'd you stop using him?
With the flex fuel I heard shoup doesn’t change much until you move all the way up to e40 from e0. So if you ran say e25 you’re not making much more per/trq than just pump 93. Is Doug the same?
Was expecting it to be faster. I mean on my M140i i Got 473hp / 673nm on stage 2. Only downpipe and Tune. No Tu hpfp or nothing. Just 98Ron and a 7.49 100-200km/h
Just wondering why ethanol is available in the US at every pump station, because ethanol has less energy than standard pump fuel (e.g. 93oct) resulting in more needed fuel for the same amount of power resulting in much higher fuel consumption. For sure, in terms of tuning it's great due to its high knock resistance, but for standard cars I do not yet get it.
1. It's not available at every pump 2. It's cheaper than gas 3. It's better for the environment because it's made from a renewable resource (corn) instead of fossil fuels
@@kern417 2. Would you say the price reduction compesated the additional fuel consumption? And what about fuel lines and fuel pressure pumps of standard/stock cars: Are they prepared/adjusted specifically for the US market and its ethanol availability/usage?
@@gwspom typically yes but just depends. Like when gas is over $4 a Gallon and E85 is less than $2, it's worth it. But the flex fuel sensors you see people using come stock on some cars. OEMs design flex fuel cars with fuel systems that can handle it.
@@gwspom if you google flex fuel cars you'll see a list of cars that come with flex fuel from the factory. It's not like how we use it to make more power, but it can adjust to make the same power regardless of ethanol content. Some people like EVs/Hybrids, others by flex fuel cars to save money. Just depends.
@@kern417 Crazy to hear that standard pump fuel costs less than half of what it costs here in Germany. Ethanol would be a great thing in Europe too, not only from cost perspective but also in terms of the environment. But I don‘t think it will still get introduced, because the politics are aiming for EVs only.
Hard to say, no one has gone that far. There are still inherent issues with pump gas like heat, but 600 would definitely be easier with low compression and higher boost levels. Spool and response would suffer though.
