They pretty much just did the movies the way that a majority of the fan base wished they did with the anime. All the same important elements are there, with only the ending changed in such a way that was closer to what the fans had wanted from the anime. The actual story is over 2 movies, then they did a pseudo-sequel called L: Change the World. In which L has already had his name written in the notebook, and is living out his final 23 days of life, working on an entirely different case.
+C Martinez And honesty his plan is so stupid and convoluted that the author had to dumb down Light for it to even work not to mention rip Mikami's character apart. So he isn't even smart. He talked of justice as a game, some self serving ego trip just like L but not anywhere near as intelligent.

We all know that light might be a Shinigami now ... The Mystery Shinigami was wearing the same clothes and was walking the same as how Light walked when he was shot. The Mystery Shinigami also gave Ryuk and apple. Who else would have known that he likes apples. Ryuk also referred to him as Light 2 times. Then the Mystery Shinigami jumped into the human world after the conversation with Ryuk. And remember how Ryuk said that Light would make a wonderful Shinigami? I expect a season 2. Hopefully it will happen, but I doubt it.
And to anyone that wears the mask called Kira, they will have the same fate as Light, a beautiful bright and successful student who just happened to wear it... When Light lost ownership to the notebook he became so pure and innocent you cant believe it was the Light we know of now, psychotic and disgusting... Also, Light told him that he can kill in emergency, and Mikami had no idea, that Light had the opportunity, to kill Takada himself. Mikami was just like Light, and Light was too confident in himself and trusted in Teru way too much, that it led to his downfall. Sure, Mikami made that final mistake, but if you look deeper, it wasn't his fault.
What about this ( L and the shinigami agrees to fake his death so he can hide again from kira cuz he knows that light is kira and he did fake his death and asked from shinigami to disappear from kira so it can be convinced , and go to N tell him about everything to solve the case and close it for ever )
