- What's the difference between the Cre8audio East Beast and West Pest? One uses subtractive synthesis like pretty much everything else and the other uses Buchla style wave folding and low pass gate inspired circuits... and what does that all mean. Watch and find out :)
These are 2 very different sounding units, one is a bug juicy analog mono synth, the other is plucky, percussive and can be incredibly dirty.
And most fun of all... get both and you've got a mini monster!!

It bugs me more than it should that you are wrong. East Beast is on the LEFT and West Pest is on the RIGHT, and that doesn’t make sense

Great vid! I would love to see you compare the features of the West Pest with the 0-Coast.
The 0-coast doesn't have a sequencer but it does have a full ADSR. The 0-coast is not intended to be rack-mounted but it does have far more stand-alone sound design patchability than the WP. The 0-Coast doesn't have its own keypad but it does have its own attenuverter section. Oddly, the 0-coast does not have a dedicated power switch (you have to buy an inline power switch separately).

Great synth, West Pest! But I thought my fine tune was badly calibrated but I notice that your knob also is at aprx 9oclock. Isn't a little strange that it's not calibrated right at 12oclock? The manual says it's +-1,5 semitones, hard to get it - 1,5 when tuned correctly...
Now I want to sell my Moog and Buchla and get 10 Beasts and 15 Pests! LOL
for my part, the tuning of the East Beast is not stable beyond an octave, suddenly it is not practical for bass line or melody .. I checked, I am on the latest version thanks to the small software of Cre8audio, maybe there is a trick to solve this problem
Have you had any trouble controlling them from external MIDI gear? I've had to send back 2 West pests because they were unusable with several different MIDI controllers (constant note-hanging as if the unit wasn't getting any note-end messages). I hope this is something that they can fix with firmware updates because I love the sound of these little boxes and am still very much interested in owning them.
I had an issue where it wasn’t working very well.. but taking it apart and wiggling a cable through the hole from the rear sorted it. Seems as if the components need a bit of physical manipulation (or surface dust/lacquer removal).
Thanks for pointing that out. Not sure why most reviewers don't point out bugs with new gear, so it's great to have a community who does so. Looks like I'll be waiting awhile before picking one or two up myself. Hope they sort out the bugs

@@Essjay88 hiya.. it was just the MIDI In ‘hole’ I poked a TR cable to the patch point from the other side and gave it a little wiggle. Dead simple and did the trick.
Can this thing fold a wave from a different synth? Is there an input to the fold?
Yes there’s a fold input. I’m pretty sure I demo’d it on one of my videos.

Which one you recomment next to a typhoon and eventide h90
Not used the typhoon but I’m recording a hades bs Erebus today. The west pest is different so probably adds more flexibility overall. The east beast is your typical subtractive which is covered by the typhoon.

@@tillorrly1128 ha.. I much prefer my pulsar 23 to the 2600. I own the 2600 mini myself and it’s fab indeed. The thing is dudes, the vid was about that crap synth called the west pest and the nearest competitor to that is prob the O coast, hence I mentioned it, so my comment was relevant, yours was just random and not ha. All good tho
