Sitting next to my two deliveries from preorders. Wasted like an hour going to two local stores, and that's ok. Took a shot, no biggie. But the fact that the stores themselves didn't get much (30 ETB's t-o-t-a-l was average in my area, including preorders) is crazy. On top of that, GameStop cancelling my preorder really slapped my ballsack since that was my order of 6.
The hobby is in shambles at the moment. I will be staying in sidelines until everything subsides again. This is just Day 1 and we have ~(365 x 2) - 1 day remaining before going out of print. We have time.
The viral videos of people literally knocking down tvs at Costco, pushing other people's kids at Target & grabbing arms full of product is insane! Ur right, no way can that be fun or enjoying the hobby. I'm glad you touched on having a sense of community & connecting with people.
Really weird because there really isn't that much money in flipping. Looking like a moron on TikTok forevermore in order to get a couple hundred dollars seems like a bad trade. If I was going to give up my anonymity and make myself look like a tit I'd want millions.
Got bummed that I didn’t get to buy any Prismatic yesterday so I bought some Paldean Fates from a vending machine. Pulled a bubble mew. I think I’ll continue to not buy prismatic..
I'm sure most people understand at this point, but the answer is: do not buy product on the secondary market. Even at 1% markup, do not buy. That's the only way to make sure the current scalpers won't scalp Pokemon cards ever again. If they lose money on scalping cards, they will never bother us again. There will be more later down the road, but just never buy from them. If they cannot sell their product for more than they paid for it, they will stop quicker than you can say Worcester sauce.
I have managed to get 2 ETS ... opened one, get nothing out of it (rly nothing but 2 hits for 5 bucks), keeping another one sealed. I am quite pissed tbh.
Got my 2 pcetb that i was lucky to wake up at the right time for. Thats it. Not bothering with anymore unless they print the crap out of it. Sticking to singles at reasonable prices.
This set will be around in 2 years, 5 years, 10 years. The good thing about this hobby is where ever there’s noise and hype there’s always something else that’s quiet. My plan is just stay out of modern for a bit. Time to focus on the back catalogue.
I went to my Target and was able to get 1 because I was first in line, but still in the whole store they only had 6 on release day and my gamestop only had 7. It's pretty wild. I just want to open the cards, but I refuse to pay almost booster box prices for 1 etb especially when the pulls are so bad.
I'm surprised people want to sell this at all. Given what happened to Evolving Skies it'd make more sense to stash it. Mind you I doubt any of these people know what Evolving Skies is. The fact that the investment channels are calling for mass reprints really shows how far things have gone. Even Rudy was saying this set needs multiple reprints. It's like I'm living in a parallel world. 😂 Things will level out, just got to give it time.
I was able to get my normal ETB from the local game store as well! I shop local places and never shop big stores, knowing it's the first place to get hit. I got there, very short line and everyone in line got ETB or something else.
bro I feel the same as you....bought from a store an etb for 125$ CAD on release. dont even wanna open it, stood outside in the snow for an hour...people being threating because i walked out with etb for me and a poster collection for my friend. dunno what the hobby is anymore
This time in the hobby sucks. I went to multiple store in the am trying to find prismatic or anything. All the stores were empty. I waited in like for 1.5 hrs at a gamestop to get a poster collection. I’m waiting for for the reprint. These videos that are coming out are brutal. I see so many postings on OfferUp and Facebook marketplace place that these bastards have the pictures etbs and blooming waters boxes from their car. They literally couldn’t wait to get home to take pictures. Stay safe everyone and be patient.
Buy another set instead, the pull rates aren’t worth paying scalper prices. Buy crown zenith instead, or if you want the eevelutions buy the terrestrial festival
I keep saying this and I'll keep saying it. Until people start to get on board, maybe they never will. Pokemon has a huge distribution problem. That's the number one problem here. Scalping is starting at distribution by selling to streamers way above msrp. That shouldn't happen.
I don’t agree with fighting, but if someone snatches a product out of your hand. You aren’t fighting over cards anymore. You are fighting over the disrespect that just happened.
I think being ok with missing out or skipping sets is a good, healthy thing you should practice all the time, not just moments like this. Be financially responsible. I got back in the hobby when Twilight dropped after taking a few years off, and I’m not beating myself up for missing cheap Sword and Shield. Just do other stuff and focus on older cards that are cheaper. Great video
I'm just going to say what nobody in this hobby wants or likes to hear. If you pay scalper prices, you're as bad as the scalpers. You're part of the problem. This is a hobby I love and is a big part of my life, but I'm also an adult with self control. There will be other sets. There are other tcg's people!! I've been having a blast opening some DBZ and Final Fantasy boosters for a fraction of the price of Pokémon. Everyone needs to calm down and grow up.
That is a lazy way to lump everyone into the same problem. Some people just want the product and couldn't get it otherwise at the moment. $100 to you may be waaay different in terms of financial weight than to me or anyone else. I know it sucks, but the real issue lies in the way and speed these things are able to be purchased. TH-cam has also contributed to the problem, whether we like it or not. All these social media sites with videos bragging at the easy flip and the money made isn't a kept secret. Show me the incentive and I will show you the outcome, every time. There are many ways to divide up any blame if necessary, but those buying it are not the real root problem.
@reversiontothemean6129 Edit: My first reply was irritated, because I think this situation is frustrating everyone. To be clear, I didn't say that people paying these prices are the problem, I said they're a part of it. Which is true. I'm lucky enough that financially I can afford these prices. I usually spend a few hundred each month on cards anyway. I'm not buying Pokémon products at these prices because I refuse to contribute to a problem that's hurting the hobby I love. Instead, my money is going on DBZ and Final Fantasy, and I'll likely move back over when this all eventually blows over. That being said, I'm enjoying DBZ and FF far more than I thought I would, which has been a stark reminder that there are other IPs out there. Pokémon is not the hobby, it's just a part of it.
@@reversiontothemean6129it’s not lazy if it’s true. If you purchase from scalpers. You are just encouraging the behavior. The number 1 thing to stop scalpers is to NOT BUY THEIR SHIT. Look at the whole scalpers with PS5s they had to eventually sell their consoles for lower because of Sony actually making more PS5s
Everything happening in the world?!? Bro we just gotta make it to Monday and Trump will deport all the scalpers! Meanwhile I am going ham on Temproal Forces boosters boxes at my LGS for 110 no tax.
I neeed to join a discord but I’ve been scammed before so I’m hesitant….. I will say I agree with creating a relationship with LCS. Don’t do it expecting anything but do it genuinely. I’ve built a relationship with the owner of mine and he sold me a prismatic etb for what he got it for the day before. You catch more bees with honey!
Let me know how your release day went. Link for PokeNotify

This set has become so insane my LGS got broken into the night prior to release, stealing all of the preorders
nah bro thats actually fucking bad bro
😗
Sad
I’ve never seen so many grown kids fight over a blooming onion.
Throwing stones from a glass hot tub. Poketub Time Machine. This was a bubbling hot take. Okay I’m done.
I don’t buy from scalpers. I just wait
You’re a breath of fresh air in the hobby. Much respect to you. 🙏🏻

Ive said it since my Scalpers in the Wild video and ill say it again,
"If it's not MSRP, It's not for me!"

Couldn't get any Pokemon stuff on 1/17... So I just bought a bunch of Lorcana. Pokemon isn't the only game in town.
If Pokemon TCG don't fix this people will jump ship.
Some don’t even know what they’re buying. I had a guy with a bag full of tech stickers ask me if he had the goods lol
Should've told him he had the wrong ones. 😂
Got bummed that I didn’t get to buy any Prismatic yesterday so I bought some Paldean Fates from a vending machine. Pulled a bubble mew. I think I’ll continue to not buy prismatic..
Congrats on the Bubble Mew!

Man that's messed up.................. ( I say in my head as I clean out another Pokemon Vending Machine)
I’m not going to be sad if I can’t find Prismatic. Won’t pull shit anyway
Yeah I think a lot of people feel this way.
A good ol rant video before bedtime 😎🙏
Sweet dreams, my friend!
Rob got too hot in the sauna = rant time. ❤
My phone overheated
There plenty of prismatic evolutions ETBs in my local card store wonder why ?
Maybe because they selling each for 160 plus tax lol
I have managed to get 2 ETS ... opened one, get nothing out of it (rly nothing but 2 hits for 5 bucks), keeping another one sealed. I am quite pissed tbh.
I have one Etb and keeping it sealed.
Got my 2 pcetb that i was lucky to wake up at the right time for. Thats it. Not bothering with anymore unless they print the crap out of it. Sticking to singles at reasonable prices.
There was maybe 15 people in front of us in line today at game stop. They left maybe 7 people in and they were sold out
That's so sad.

just... don't... buy
Buy vintage.
Not sure if you're in a sauna or crying 😁. Thanks for the info!
Lol I'm in the sauna

Even surging sparks if you can get it at a decent price.

I love how people are just discovering the negative aspects of capitalism.
So sad to see the hobby and kids not having a chance to buy. Release day was awful, could not get the poster but it was fine 🥲
