Can beats from the actual beat tape still be sold to artist who interest in using those beats? Basically, can a producer just use distribution as layer of protection, but still sell those same beats from the tapes independently???
Sure, you're not limited to keeping those beats in a beat tape, you can sell them individually as well as in a collection (as long as the exclusive rights aren't sold)
So Curtis are you saying to release your beat tape just as you would an ep or album on TuneCore or DistroKid? Would that create a problem for the artist who actually wants to purchase the track? I just want to know.
I've been wanting to know the same. I know you can still get paid if an artist steals your beat from your beat tape if they upload it for streaming. But we'd like know if we could sell it as a lease or exclusive is a good question
don't put your beat tape out to get sales for those certain beats, release what you can do in music and then the rappers can hit you up if they fuck with your shit and go from there, just my personal opinion

In my opinion, you shouldn’t spam tags on your beat, it is your art and what you need to do is signup for publishing/copyright services like BMI, DistroKid etc. so you own rights to the beat and if people steal it you can still collect money since it’s yours
