I can’t remember ever falling in love with a band like I have with Jinjer since the mid 80’s when I first heard Metallica

It’s so crazy but this kind of comment is so prevalent amongst older metalheads like myself. I mean Jinjer along with Gojira ( to a lesser extent) have revived my interest in metal music. They just seem to connect to older fans while keeping their music fresh and modern! I can’t get enough of this band!!

Ask and you shall receive. LOL Drum playthrough for this song was just released 1 week ago.
Song is the first track on the 2021 Wallflowers album. Yep, a brutal song, and then the typical Jinjer switchup near the end. Don't know if Tati was influenced at all by Christina Aguilera, she is a big fan of Gwen Stefani though. This show was filmed Dec 22, 2022 at the Wiltern in LA. Blu-ray/DVD/CD recording was released a couple months ago.
    Setlist:
    Sit Stay Roll Over
    Teacher, Teacher
    Copycat
    Homeback
    I Speak Astronomy
    As I Boil Ice
    Judgement (& Punishment)
    Dead Hands Feel No Pain
    Vortex
Who Is Gonna Be The One
    Sleep Of The Righteous
    Call Me A Symbol
    Perennial
    Pisces
    On The Top
When you get to Homeback, suggest a double, the music video and the live here in LA. Music video because of the subject matter, and of course live is awesome.

Man, I so appreciate the info! Yeah, too late to add that playthrough so I'll have to do a separate video of it. Vlad is a beast! Can't pass that up. There are a few songs on that set list I didn't have on my list so thanks for that. I had just added Homeback on my list from another comment who suggested the live from LA version. I'll take your advice as well and do both the OMV and that live video together. Thank you, my friend! 🤘🤘

    Yes, Bill's back!
In this song, Tati is taking on the persona of a narcissist to illustrate how revolting it is.
My personal favourite live performance of this song is Jinjer _ Call Me A Symbol (Live) - Hellfest 2022. Do yourself a favour and check it out!
The drumming is fantastic in this song. I'd definitely be up for checking out your reaction to Vlad's drum playthrough.

Growling is not one of my favorite things. But, Tatiana has proved time and again that she has great clean vocals and she also has a tremendous stage presence. Add to that a band that are master musicians and I can deal with the growling.

    • @davidjames6036
      @davidjames6036 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Lol I feel sorry for your loss lil bro 😂😂........growling dynamics are usually the best parts of these songs while weaving through odd time signatures lol.

    • @BemusingBill

Not one of mine either. To me it's a skill that has it's place but if that was all she has it would be boring. Boring is not a word that goes anywhere near Tati! And those musicians! They blow my mind every time. ❤️

(With a few exceptions) I didn't used to be a huge fan of the whole growly-screamy thing. But I really dig Jinjer!!! Love & thanks to you & Nancy!!!❤❤

That's right! I instantly got Van Halen's Ice Cream Man in my head 🤣. If your not familiar, I highly recommend.
I am definitely not a fan of the growly-screamy stuff either. Gets boring to me. But Tati uses so many tools from her tool box that it makes it very interesting. All our love to you my dear friend! ❤️❤️

And I’ve always taken this song (which is prob my fav off Wallflowers) to be more of a sarcastic message to those who love the attention and idolation of being in the spotlight.
One last thing that I’ll mention then shut up, I really think you would love watching the “Audiotree from Nothing” special they did. An interview spliced in with 3 live recordings. Even if you split it up into 3 separate videos. I’d love to see what you think of it 😊

    • @BemusingBill
      @BemusingBill  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thank you, my friend! I was hoping to do a Roman playthrough on this one but no luck. Had I known about Vlad's playthrough I would have added it.
I can see that sarcasm in the meaning too, One of the best things about Jinjer is they let us decide what we take from the song.
I will take your advice on the Audiotree special. Thanks for the recommendation! I've added it (and found it on YT) so I'll give you a shout out when I do it. 🤘❤️🤘

you had it! Tati put out a quote about this song and said that she wishes she could be a self absorbed diva at least for one day life would be easier dealing with all the daily struggles with dealing with people but she can’t because she’s too reserved and introverted. that’s what she meant by saying the sickest fantasy coming to life vanity is my identity.

    • @BemusingBill
