    Does the Martingale System really Work? www.financial-spread-betting.c... PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! This betting system originates from the casino. So you bet $1 on black and it comes red - next you bet $2 if you lose the bet again you double up again to $4. Now you have lost $7. So you next bet $8. You are literally doubling your bet size each time with the expect result that eventually you're be right and you'll recover back your original $1 stake.
    1,2,4,8,16,32,64 - see how quickly your stake size has to increase...This is why you have table limits at casinos. Does this system work? Unlikely, the risk is too high - eventually chances are you will end up being wiped out. The risk of ruin is just too high. Do you have an experience with martingale trading system? If so let us know by commenting on this video.

    i did this without knowing what it was , or that it had a name, when i was a little kid. We used to bet marbles. I used to bet 1, if i lost bet 2, bet 4 and then when i win, go back to 1. I also felt it was failsafe. until i lost like 8 or 9 times in a row and lost everything. I felt heartbroken as a little kid then, specially cuz i was really good at maths as a kid. but that moment was crucial to teach me to stay away from gambling for the rest of my life. So that fanny pack full of marbles i had as a kid saved me thousands in the long run.
    This system is basically running a system for ages to learn a fraction of what you have at each cycle. the problem is that with a 50/50 toss, in order to double your money, theres as much chances of eventually to draw all the loses to lose it all as there is to "slowly double" your money. (assuming no house cut)

    I have been using martingale type strategies in different ways in various trading strategies. It is a beautiful idea when applied correctly to manage losses. The biggest difference between the example above when applied to roulette is that the casinos have the odds on their side but in the markets YOU should have the odds on your side assuming your strategy is good

    Martingale: you always win until you lose everything (streaks are just a matter of time)
    Good money management: you risk small... some days wining some days losing but in the long term you’re positive.
    What do you prefer... risk small to gain more or risk big only to recover losses

    Using the martingale since a year with an indicator from market. Basically I use 0.01 lots for every 1000$ I invested. Yes I hear that you tell me that I dont make too much profit with this. I earn a stable and stressless 2-4% of my equity every month. For me to be stopped out, the market should stay in a range for a month which is never possible.

    The way martingale works for me is I use it on games that don't normally lose more than 3 times in a row. I lose 20 out of 5 sessions. The two losers are canceled by the two winning sessions which leaves a total of one winning event. Can't win a whole lot but at least win in the long run.

    Let me say two things about martingale strategy... First if we take a buy order twice and it went against us ...the next we can also take a sell limit order instead of the buy order we have being taking....its not necessary to place only buy...orders in Forex ...the orders can be changed to a sell limit order if you observe that the tread have changed....another is ,it best to change you order after every three lose . it shows change it tread...to get back your loss. If studied and fine tuned...we can make great fortune through it....for beginner trader this is one of the greatest strategy...even if your strategy has a loss rate of 1 to 7...you can used martingale strategy to get it all working fine...please study it first and put spread and commissions to consideration before you try it...it also has its down parts.

    I use a martingale strategy but with a trailing stop and with a step multiplier and If it looses more than 100€ it closes all the trades also it has an advisor so it only opens trades when there is a higher chance it will succeed do you think it will fail?

    The Martindale EAs that Ive seen used to trade forex constantly move the TP closer to the breakeven price on each new opening trade that is of higher lot size then the previous one. This with enough leverage causes recovery of loss from a tiny move in direction that benefits the open positions. If you set up another EA to disable all trading EAs and close all open positions when a pre determined maximum margin used is reached.. Then this strategy i think will win more often then lose. It has for me in live trading.

    We have an advantage here . First one roulette have a 0 and 00 so the odds is not 50/50 but in trading you bet with the market direction and never against it. Check daily chart for trend direction and then back to the 15 min chart and trade between support and resistance lines in the market direction only. Keep your entry and exit 20% far from the support and resistance lines. Make sure stop loss and TP is set between the 60% range

    Im not a trader but a fundamental investor. The example at the end, buying parcels as its moving down makes great sense as there is an intrinsic support i.e the fundamentals of the company backing your investment. From a fundamental point of view, the risk vs reward increases greatly the lower a stock goes.

    Martingale and averaging down are two totally different concepts. Buying more as the market plummets is simply scaling in to a bigger position. Martingale is a draw down management technique. In other words, if your account is down 20%, martingale recovers all loses in one trade which is really nice because you don't have to "work hard" at trading your system. Obviously, martingale is not a strategy intended for gaining profits. So basically, you martingale to recover your losses. Once you recover them, stop martingale-ing i.e. taking on more risk. Why are people fucking up and misusing a beautiful concept? lol

      Totally agree with you man. Everyone talks about “oh trading is 50/50, either you lose or you win.”That’s true in a sense.. But people also forget that if you actually HAVE an edge in the market, it’s not 50/50. Everyone that talks about martingale in trading doesn’t know what they’re talking about. This isn’t a 50/50 coin flip or roulette table, find an edge people.

      Martingale's IS a profit gaining strategy in roulette from where it originates. You obviously do not understand it. In roulette you risk 1 to gain 1. If you loose you then risk 2 to recover the 1 lost AND TO GAIN 1. If you loose you risk 4 to recover the 3 lost AND TO GAIN 1. This 'AND TO GAIN 1' is always there.

    the way to do martingale is to record lots of statistics, and work out 95% distribution of number of trades before winnings; ie lose, lose, win, l, l, l, w and so on until you have 95% distribution. Then never go beyond the maximum number of loses, as per the 95% disctribution of normal luck.

    I use to martingale at the roulette table. I was successful for awhile, then wake up one day to bet on odd against 18 straight consecutive even numbers. I've seen this scenario more times then not. Even the most legit casinos are using pins in some of their wheels.. I was thinking of trying this with 1/3rd bets. This way, instead of doubling in, I can hedge my bets progressively. So, say I see 4 consecutive high numbers hit 25-36, and the next frequent hit set of numbers are midlle 13-24.. I'll bet on the middle set at $5, then hedge up to 10-15-20-30-50-75-110-170-245, etc. It adds up, but it's more affordable.

    What if you start with 0,1 lot size on a divergence entry point and doubling your lot size everytime there is another divergence pointing towards your target?
    I've been backtesting for month on a minute time frame using RSI divergence starting with 0,1 lot size. I would've won all trade. The lowest I got is 2,547$ which is not a lot considering you can have a bankroll of 250k or even more. I'll keep on backtesting since I'm still skeptical but everything indicate that it is doable with a certain approach and reasonable size bankroll.

    Martingale is great for averaging positions instead of going in just 1. For eg if the sl for the trade is 1000$ then we can layer the orders and keep doubling it to near the SL level. sum of those should not exceed 1000$ when hitting SL. We can scale the sl from 1-2% as sometimes it only take every few orders and go straight back up

    So, the smaller your base bet is, the higher chance you'll end up profitable in the long-term, correct? (since you have more chances to turn around the losing streak without it impacting your main account as quickly)
    For example:

    $0.00001132 per bet

    • @JivanPal
      @JivanPal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I got good results after 20 000 spins, house edge reduced to 1% and majority of time I was in profit but eventually lost it. Hovewer I think it could work on blackjack for profit sinxe house edge is smaller. If someone is able to simulate at least 10k hands with this strategy please do it and tell me the results.

    In the UK there are 5 Major Racecourses: Cheltenham , Doncaster etc. Statistics confirm, for the past 170 years at least one favourite has won in the 5 racecourses (fact). So what you do is bet on the first favourite if you lose double up on the next favourite .If you did that you would have won every Saturday for the past 170 years. The problem with the roulette system is that if you play for 2 or 3 hour it's possible to lose 7 times straight wiping out all your money and with a casino max bet limit you will never get it back. But with my Racecourse system you will always win, since statistics prove it.

    • @maltesepsycho
      @maltesepsycho 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the odds given on favourites are not high enough for martingale to work. You would need 1/1 odds minimum for it to work, not the usual 6/7 - 5/7 ish type odds (or even worse depending on horse) that you get by the bookies. You could adjust by the odds so eg. X 2.3 the original bet rater than X 2 to make up for non 1/1 odds. However this will increase the bet a lot faster.

    I would say your investing strategy is more like counting cards in black jack as you are incrementally increasing your bet within limits based on the odds improving when more low cards have been played. As you pointed out the reason casino's have table limits is you could just keep doubling until you eventually won. Problem is your potential loss is inccreasing exponentially while your return is linear. If that makes sense. The last problem is during this you have a huge stock market crash which is like the casino burning down along with your money. ;0]

    How about using in a system without leverage and such? Binary options platforms? It just seems it is not as straightforward with how much one wins back as in a regular system, it's only percentages so the formula of the Martingale would have to be scaled accordingly. The still have indicators though, so the chance should be better than 50% Not sure about maximum bet caps.

    A better new system is
    1 1
    2 2
    3 4
    6 8
    12 16
    24 vs 32
    48 64
    96 128
    192 256
    384 512
    768 1024
    both systems are better in certain bankroll systems (assuming 1 to be minimum bettable amount)
    6 -> new
    7-11 -> old
    12-14 -> new
    15-23 ->old
    24-30
    31-47
    basically the new system is used when it gives more chances with same bankroll
    and old one is used when both give equal number of chances, for e.g. a total bankroll = 20. because both are equally risky, but old system provides a profit instead of break even at end. (you save some money when you bust your bankroll in new system, which is pointless once you have lost 90-95% of your capital)

      Sure, but by doubling it requires only one win to return to breakeven+1, whereas by using a more benign progression it requires multiple wins. No matter what staking system you use, the overall net expectancy is always the same. Expectancy math doesn't lie.

    This actually works because you're using odds in your favor but you cannot do it indefinitely because then odds are not in your favor, if you do it until you win a couple of bucks odds are in your favor because in a 50-50% scenario its very hard for chips to fall in the same place 10-15 times, if you want to make a living with this it means odds of it falling 10-20 times in the same color or whatever will be much higher and eventually you will lose everything.

      I didnt know people call this a martingale system. However, I do think its different for trading. I use an averaging down strategy in accordance to my account size, however, my buys are not random and I can read the chart, so i wouldnt call this a martingale strategy because banks use this system. Its building a position with a profit price target in mind, not roulette. I win over 95% of the time in small caps.

    Mate, if you outline a 10 pip range (with horizontal lines) and use pending stops, above and below the range, martingale works. Only stupid traders will ''hope' for the market to move in their favor after they have doubled. Locking it in a range ensures that in no time you get a breakout that gets you into positive, combine this with the risk cap you spoke about and youre good to go.

    • @dakaodo
      @dakaodo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's totally solid -- if the breakout is valid. A trading plan on breakouts needs to have robust defenses for accepting and dealing with multiple failed breakouts, b/c that's what happens w the majority of new highs or new lows that try to breakout. They just push the boundaries of the overall range up and down a bit.
      I've traded breakouts from ranges of 2 pips (overnight markets) to 120 pips. All of them will mislead you sooner or later. :)
      Instead of a flat 10-pip range, you might consider an ATR-based range for your chosen timeframe(s). e.g. using a 2xATR on M15, your range for breakout might be around 20 pips. 10 pips can still be found, but is sometimes harder to spot; 10 pips is easily spotted on M5 though. As a counterexample, I can find some 4-5 pip ranges on M15 that featured nice breakouts with 20-30 pip ABCD moves (good RRR of 4+:1 even if your SL is equal to the original pre-breakout range).
      Good trades to you!

    Martingale strategy can work exceptionally well in macro uptrends, especially if you position trade weekly/monthly charts. Market structure is very important to note when using this strategy. If you keep buying to average down in a macro downtrend then you are asking for trouble.

    When at the casino you are against the dealer. When in the markets you are against the Hedgefunds. You need to make sure you know who you are up against. In casino, martingale can work but within a betting spread, structure and luck/timing. I say this because I have lost 7 hands in a row before. In the market, I have kept doubling up, until they rug pulled and it hit my stop loss. Therefore you need to be very careful. Stocks are better since you can hold in the long run and not sell for a loss and average down significantly. Games such as baccarat is good because you can just hit it and leave quick.

    I understand why, when you do the math, the Martingale system is not viable over time. Nothing you can do will make the game favor the player. BUT...I've been messing around on online play-for-fun American roulette trying the Martingale. Sat there for an hour doing it at $5 increments, ended up $1000 in the black. Screwing around with $20's, then moving to $100's once I had a few thousand cushion, and I'm up about $5000. Both with $1000 table limit and a $1000 player bank. If you do the big-brain math stuff it obviously is not a winning strategy, but actually doing it makes it APPEAR to work. I know intellectually it's not a winning strategy, but I think I'm gonna try it at the tables with $5 chips and a couple hundred and see how far I get; walking away if I make $50. Just to see for myself. EDIT: Is it possible it's ALWAYS working for me in these online play-for-fun tables because they're rigged to let you win so you'll pony up on moving to the real cash sites? Get your ass excited with fakes winnings to trick you into emptying your bank account? That just occurred to me and would explain a few things.

What I do is start at 0.25 and double from that until I win it will take a around 12 hours to win over a grand or two but you have a better change doing that .

    If you can retire at 65 with say 2.5 million US dollars in cash reserve, it makes perfect sense to just go to a casino every evening with 200 dollars, roulette table, double the bet every time until you win, usually it would take between 1 and 5 bets, leave as soon as you win 200, thats about 50k a year for just sitting at a table for less than an hour's time out of your day... just sayin... you do need a few million in reserve before adopting this retirement supplement though...

    Betting strategies do not work. In roulette, every spin is an independent event. The ball and the wheel have no memory. Losing streaks can and do occur; if this happens, you suffer catastrophic loss. Odds of winning are never 50/50, as green 0 (and 00 on American wheels) create house edge. Do not use Martingale or any betting strategy with an idea that it is a "guaranteed win." No such thing exists in the casino.
