- A Review of the Awesome 2017 Volvo V40 R Design Pro T3 Petrol.
I have Reviewed the Exciting new Volvo V40 R design Pro edition T3 Petrol, which is new for 2017 and the same for 2018..... Volvo has added a Pro model to the R-Design range for model year 2017 & 2018.
This new Volvo V40 is in the C segment category, so it's up against the Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf, Audi A3, Bmw 1 Series and Mercedes a Class...... !!!
We All love cars, especially hatchbacks and this is one exciting Volvo! This is my first review so go easy on me.. I hope you find this review helpful and informative. Please feel feel to ask me any questions about the car should you have any..
The V40 R-design Pro T3 in this video is a 2017 model and was provided by Volvo. 2018 model are the same.

Finally a review that covers headlight quality, cars are used at night as well so why is it never covered. One of my biggest disappointment with the face lift is that the media screen is still not touch screen and that is a poor choice by Volvo to not upgrade. My local dealership only had diesels to try which is not what I was after so again finding a petrol review is really helpful.

Hi HE76, I'm glad you enjoyed the review! I try to be as detailed as possible without being boring;-) I guess car reviewers are limited to how much they can show you about a car without making the video too long.
The headlight are great it really makes driving at night stress free, especially on unlit dark roads. The only negative we found was the lights are aimed really low from factory.. We did adjust them and the beam performed good with very strong light output and really good width.. Also the high-beams are amazing too!! The video actually doesn't show just how good these light are.
In terms of media, I would say the system is OK to use, although it's not the best system on the market, but you got to remember the car was first launched 4 years ago. Volvo have no plans to upgrade the system until the next redesign. But I totally agree with you it would be nice if they upgraded it to a touch screen, as we are all now use to smart phone and tablets. We have a full review of the Sensus system coming soon, so stay tuned!!
We had great fun with the Petrol engine it's smooth, quiet and just all round more refined than the diesel engine. It also has good pulling power to.. However MPG does drop off sharply though if you have a heavy right foot;-)

It’s not a R-Design Pro it’s just a R-Design because the R-Design Pros wheels are bigger and have a different design and also comes with the winter pack as standard which has heated seats
TheEpicGamer X01. When these cars get delivered to us they come with a spec sheet as to what model it is and what it has. Please remember that Volvo and other manufacturers change vehicle specification and standard equipment on their cars from time to time. The V40 LED headlights are amazing, very bright with good illumination of the road and the high-beams are great! Directional and corning lights are not available on the V40 model. But the light are really good either way. Remember to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE.
thx for your fast response. Glad that i choose the right version :) . In France, for the MY2018, the directional headlight is an option on the V40. My dear C30 have Xenon headlights which are damn good at night time.
The LED lights are much better than the HID lights.. The only thing I would say is that the LEDs are aimed really low from factory so you should aim them a little higher, which we did on the test car, and the light performed very well.
My xenon on my C30 are pretty low too from factory, but the mandatory check says nothing to report about that, but the beam is really good !
Marco S - The spec has changed a lot since this review and the latest (last ever) version of the R-Design has the active bending LED headlights as standard along with many other items such as privacy glass, adjustable boot floor, headlight washers etc, etc that were previously extras.
Is sat nav standerd on the r design.. And does it really do 50mpg
Mike Fallon - SatNav standard yes but 50 mpg? You’ll be lucky to get 35 mpg overall and that’s driving it like a vicar. One of the thirstiest 1.5 litre engines I’ve ever come across. It’s a really great car and this review really does it justice but ... the fuel economy will just make you cry.
Sounds about right lol. Saying that iv got a astra gtc 1.4 turbo atm that's only putting out 28 mpg.

How is the suspension ? Is it too hard for london roads ?
It's actually very good to drive around town... The setup is a lot softer than BMW or Mercs. Thanks for watching!
Waqs2109 - Many reviews say the suspension is too firm but as the reviewer rightly says, it’s fine and not harsh at all. I wish car reviews from the big guys on the scene were as accurate and unbiased as this one.
