    Those abandoned buildings are Federal government property and cannot be used by the Lagos state government without the Federal government permission! The president's accomodation in lagos is a personal property because he used to be governor of Lagos and one of the richest men in Nigeria! Area boys are usually young guys usually local to the area and unemployed. I agree that Nigeria doesn't take tourism seriously which is sad because Nigeria has quite a bunch of tourist sites but spread out in different states!

    • @the_traveling_miss
      @the_traveling_miss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And yet Nigeria has so much potential for tourism. If only it could be fully exploited, it would create a lot of job opportunities for many people.
      As for the buildings, after all those years,both governments should come together and decide what happens to them because the disuse only makes them deteriorate and unusable over time.

      Nigeria has 36 states and a federal capital. But each state has its own peculiarities. Next time if you want to come to Nigeria and enjoy your stay in Nigeria then you need to familiarize yourself with the indigenous people that knows the terrain. Then they can tell you more about each state. You also need them to tell you about where to get things at a cheaper rate so you don't get extorted. Lagosians especialy might want to extort you if they know you are a foreigner and you don't understand how things work.😂

    West Africa is not for tourism. West Africa is for work, while East Africa is for tourism. If you want to make money go to West Africa. If you want to spend your money and relax, go to East Africa.
    If you look at the european colonization pattern in Africa you'll understand this.

    • @ekinematics

      @@the_traveling_miss I never said East Africa does not have money. However there are certain parameters that both regions shine in. West Africa has more natural wealth as compared to East Africa that's more of Agriculture.
      Natural resources(petroleum, Gold etc) vs Tourism(wildlife). Majority of people going to West Africa go there to work, while those going to East go there to rest. Overall there is more money in West Africa than East Africa.
      Each region is focusing on their strength. East got tourism so they put more in it, while the west got natural resources and they put more in that.

      There used to be same public transportation in Abuja like it is in Lagos. Then the government banned all mini busses, okadas and Keke. Only taxies and luxurious buses are allowed to work in the metropolis. Thus, due to shortage in transportation, you have private cars doing taxi but they won't paint their cars to taxi colours because they only do the taxi business occasionally.
