    IMHO, we do computational chemistry, ML, iOS, Android, complex math etc ... a CS degree is more valuable over your lifetime.

      Nothing of that was what i learned in my CS degree. I learned Smalltalk/Eiffel, Z-Formalization Specification Language and this brand new thing UML that will make programmers obsolete. And the AI was about MinMax algorithms to win games. Thats 30 years ago and i still have 20 years to work.
      So you need lifelong learning no matter if CS or bootcamp

      @llothar68 True & EE/CS degree had Advance math (3years), Advance physics(3years) and Chem / Bio / Solid State Physics / Complex System Design... it setups up the magic we build today. My point is that a bootcamp is only going to provide some basic Android coding ... We would happily hire you over someone from a bootcamp ...

    Next semester i'll write my Bachelorthesis. Looking back, I can say that we learned a lot, but not really how to program, even though we had projects as exams. So i would say, that you "need" both if you will start a career as a dev

      Hello bhaiya, I am from India. I am in 2nd year. Can you describe a little about bachelor thesis? I also have to do it

    I did both. School didn't teach me all i needed for my SPECIFIC language / tech stack. The bootcamp was more focused / specific. HOWEVER, id be very careful when it comes to bootcamps, theyre not all good especially if you have to pay/ sign 2 yr contract to do one

    Is it a good choice for a person who has just graduated from high school to enter a bootcamp rather than college because I don't work well with books and I'm more of a person who learns from practical teaching.
    Because I have this subject which I did in high-school called Computer Applications Technology (CAT). It is divided into two sections.
    Theory and Practical
    In the practical half, we didn't need to study, only practice. I excelled at that, I was the highest in the grade with practical, I even got 116/150 for the final exam
    However, on the theory side, I didn't do good, that requires you to read and study. I got 52/150, which pulled me to get to 56% for my final mark
    If it was only practical, I would have gotten 77%, but theory pulled me back
    University requires you to read and study
    However bootcamp, you just need to do the work directly which gets you job ready if I'm not mistaken

    does a bootcamp provide some form of credible certificate to help you get a job? or it's the same as self learning?

    • @vibovitold
      @vibovitold 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As an Android dev with 12 years of experience, conducting some tech interviews on the way, I'd tell you this - in my opinion nobody cares about any certificate, even if it were issued by Mr. Android himself ;)
      Any company worth applying to is going to face you off with a seasoned developer, and that person won't need long to figure out whether you truly know your stuff or not. That's what matters. "But boss, he's got a Credible Bootcamp Certificate, I've got a good feeling about this" is a phrase often heard in IT companies. Just not in our universe.

    You can learn to code anywhere. You can't learn to be a professional developer in a bootcamp. That's where you have an education for. That's an overlooked essential skill imo. Especially considering the average programmer's social skills. For everyone, don't just blindly follow this guy's opinion. Do your research.

    • @vibovitold
      @vibovitold 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A degree won't make you a professional developer either. You will be learning on the job either way.
      The curriculums are notoriously outdated, and only partially overlap with the know-how required by a real-world programming career.
      A computer scientist is simply not a software developer, just like being fluid dynamics physicist doesn't equate being a good plumber.
      Personally - if I were a beginner - I'd rather invest in a course from Philipp. Bootcamps are all the rage, but conversely their quality is often iffy, and a beginner is in no position to tell. "Do your research" sounds great, but doesn't really help a newbie much - what can they really do apart from just googling : )
      As an experienced Android dev, I often disagree with various opinions voiced by Philipp, but I can't deny he's got legit competence when it comes to the technicals.
