Excellent review. I'm 100% sold now with your demonstrations. You're the first reviewer I've seen cover this bass and not have every "tone demo" be distorted into oblivion. I'm gonna save up for a 5 string version as soon as I do some Holiday shopping
This is an amazing review. Hard to find someone playing very different styles on a Dingwall. Been looking for something that can do a MM sound with out extreme sizzle and I think I found it. Thanks!
I was pleasantly surprised by the secret MM sauce on this bass! Tone knob was at 100% in all the pieces so you can subtract even more sizzle if that’s what you like.
@@AmosHeller I'm pleasantly surprised by this bass. I have a combustion but it's a little too 'hifi' for the indie band I'm playing in right now but this one sits just right. This might do the trick.
Ok, I was just expecting to hear some good tones, but I ended up hearing some effing amazing tones and got a few good laughs too! Amos is spot-on - this really does sound like a P bass, Stingray, and dirty modern metal bass all in one. I'm sold!
I wish I would be able to afford a Dingwall and be able to play it well. Hopefully one day, in the far away future I would have the skill to play well enough to justify getting one. I love the tones from all these basses.
I dont think I have all the skills to deserve it. but got a combustion anyway. Its plays great. I say go for it because it can enhance your playing even if you arent an amazing player. Then when you really deserve it upgrade to a 5k Dingwall
Amazing chops, this dude us up there with Nate Navarro for killer demo riffage. Fantastic work. My combustion has VERY distinct P bass, J bass and stingray tones with a click. Even weirder? The active/passive switch has the volume very well balanced between the two settings. So active or passive is another on the fly tone choice. I prefer passive and for sure would have gotten a D-roc had they been in stock when I was ready. Combustions do passive juuuuust fine as well, but it IS kinda cool to be able to use the more "focused" active tone during bridges and such with a flick of a switch.
Excellent summation on the closing. Yes it's not inexpensive but this bass will always have value and will omit having to buy more basses in the long run, which makes it cost effective.
5 string vintage burst version coming tomorrow, got it around 1900 tx in black fry deal =) My first fan fret. I wonder how it'll compare to my old euro 5 lx. Cheers!
I'm fighting against the thought that I need this Dingwall, to accompany my Spector Euro lx5. I didn't like the shape of the body earlier but now it looks very sexy to me. And the sound, everything I could ever need from the bass 🤙🤙
I have an Epiphone Non Reverse Thunderbird bass and reaching the first fret or trying to tune it is a pain. I really have to stretch my arm like crazy to reach. Does this Dingwall have the same issue or is it way easier?
I suppose it depends on where you wear it (as well as arm length). The Low F on the E is a bit of a journey, but the small headstock will make tuning more comfy. I’ve played a T Bird and found this to be much more comfortable.
Looking at it, from the TH-cam videos I’ve seen -although it has a Stingray punch and a P bass tone -it seems under powered -it doesn’t have enough omph. I guess, I could supplement that with my pedal-board, but it just doesn’t seem to have the power-of maybe a Thunderbird with the Gibson pick ups, in my opinion. And it’s not like you can experience it at your local guitar store. Thanks.
guitarist from my band has one of these in sunburst color and while it's build quality is just top notch, really flawless, I can't help but to me this neck feels cheap for some reason. Idk why, but I don't like neck profile and finish, it feels like 200-300€ Ibanez bass.
The click of the knobs as a part of the mix when switching for section to section... *chef's kiss*

Those basslines are beyond amazingly superb !!
I really enjoyed your playing and perspective on the bass Amos. Top notch!
Wow thanks Sheldon! It’s a great bass!
Exceptional demo! Makes me want one!….👏👌🤩🤘🎶
I tried on of these without plugging it in and was impressed how nice it was to play.
Same
That middle pickup slap tone is what dreams are made of.
Each time I pick out my favorite configuration, the next tone comes and also sounds good
Great playing and I love the illustration split screen showing the pickups in motion. Very easy to understand !
I keep coming back for the fingerstyle demo - that riff is mesmerising ❤
Yes! Same….😎👌🎶🤘

Great finger style which is uncommon in reviews..Awesome playing..🤙🏾

Dang, that's one of the nicest slap tones I've heard!
I was surprised too!
@@AmosHeller great playing in the video!
I tried 3 different dingwall a few days ago. The D-roc 4 was my favorite!!!
One of the best, if not the best, D-Roc demo on TH-cam !
Well done! I’m so glad you showed that this bass is sooo much more than just a heavy metal machine.

Great review, picked one up a few weeks ago, loving it. So easy to get used to the fan fret and the light weight is a plus.

Thanks for the review. Dingwall with pick just sounds so tasty.

I have an ng2 but really want one of these, setup AEAD Listening to this with good headphones has convinced me
cant wait to get the 5 string version of this i ordered one in blue/purple colorshift :)
When you watch a demo like this it really illustrates why Amos has the biggest gig in the world.
Great review, great sounding and looking bass 👍💪
I've been checking these out, great review. 7.1lbs, wow, I think I need one.
That's such an awesome bass! I wish they would make a lefty version of this though...
Can you share your signal chain? I bought this bass because I love the tones you got and am having a really hard time replicating them. Thanks!
When in doubt, can't go wrong with a Sansamp. Try the BOD plug-in with no cab sim and go from there

it sounds really good but i would prefer more overtones..it sounds great dont get me wrong but a bit more brilliance and it will be good
I love your playing man.
Anyone know what bass was played on the background track!? It sounds AMAZING
wow, thanks for this review my friend, i was so tired of the same technical Djent BS. You sell me this bass
great tone and nice jam

I think its kinda the same tbh
Did you find the Dingwall more comfy for the plucking arm? Rather than a TBird? I struggle with hard edges on my forearm. Thanks.
Now that I think on it, I did. The body profile is very thin, and the center assembly is a bit raised and the angles are comfy.
Where can I find tabs/video of how to play that intro?

First thing I do is replacing the bridge only position to bridge and neck in parallel
It does everything outstanding 🤯
You really care what you do ... best features, 🤟🍷
But how does it compare to a combustion?
Awesome!
Thanks Maurice!
The pickup on custom are fdv no ??
The song at the beginning needs to be a grunge hit with vocals!!
Awesome basses right there
this bass is sick
this guy plays sooooooo god
What strings did you use?
He is using Dingwall strings
@@DingwallGuitars Thanks

Fuck, Ben Stiller can play
Bit pricey for a Chinese made bass. Looks badass.
Built in china but still better qc than american fenders so doesnt matter much
lol amos is such a G
1등은못참지
It’s hard to tell but I wonder if this cuts through better than NGs.
