Saw this fanfic quote a while ago and in one sentence they did a better job of describing what the show tried to do but ended up doing a few rushed segments of high school drama at the dinner table and it's also a better understanding of the opposite fortunes of our two queens than most of the video essays. Whoever wrote it has a future in fiction.

I mean, Sansa only told Tyrion, and he's supposed to be Dany's hand, so if the info becomes public, ask yourself why Dany's own followers outed her. 🤷🏾‍♀️
Tyrion and Varys are her advisors, you'd think they'd keep the secret, (like Arya, Sam and Bran) who have no love or loyalty for Dany.
Sansa telling Tyrion technically shouldn't matter. If Dany is all he claims, he and Varys would never let this affect her claim.
    But if she isn't...
Then Sansa is right not to trust her.
Folks stuck on "Sansa told a secret," but to me that's such a short sighted way of looking at things. Secrets are not always right to be kept.
Some may say it wasn't "morally" right to say anything after a swear, but when you're dealing with tyrants or potential tyrants, morality ain't always on the table, nor is it always the smart thing to do.
Ned is hardly someone to bring up considering he was betrayed and killed due to his rigid morality/honor. Jon was also killed for this.
Sansa learned not only from Cersei, Littlefinger and Margaery, but she also learned from her own families mistakes.

Pod's whole life is working to be a Knight through his skill and Honor.. Paying for sex or sleeping with prostitutes is not Honorable. His sexual reputation was built by Tyrion & Bronn based on assumptions of his sexual prowess i.e. S7E7 Bronn statement to Tyrion " You can suck his Magic Cock". But now that I think about it idk how they could pull that off without it turning into too much of a "happy ending" but I'm sure george could make it work. Unless he has other plans

Sansa has learned from Cersei & Littlefinger, she knows power hungry people when she sees them. The main reason she doesn’t like Dany is because she thinks she’s manipulating Jon… which Daenerys did try to do this episode. I know everyone was mad at Sansa for telling Tyrion but I’m not. She’s doing what she thinks is best for her family and her people. From the season 7 to now, Sansa has always looked out for her people. Whereas Jon was only concerned about the white walkers. And now that they’re gone he’s still not even thinking about his people. He’s only worried about Daenerys. Sansa told Tyrion about Jon because she, Arya and Bran don’t think she would be a good ruler. She’s scared that Jon will die if he goes to Kings Landing. Also, if Daenerys and Jon had listened to Sansa, Rhaegal & Missandei would still be alive. I’m know lots of people think Sansa wants the throne to herself but I don’t think so. She was happy that Jon was king and upset when he bent the knee. She just wants her family together & in some position of power because that’s the only way she’ll feel safe because after Ned was murdered her family has been executed left and right. Cersei & Daenerys use fear to rule. Sansa doesn’t, which is why the people love her and not the other two. Daenerys saw this when she saw the encounter between Sansa & Theon. He came to fight for the starks, not her, out of loyalty and love. Something Daenerys has always wanted but never got. Daenerys didn’t come to save Winterfell/Westeros, she came to take it. Which is why she made Jon bend the knee or else she wouldn’t help. Sansa is the peoples Queen and she’s better then Cersei & Dany. The crumbs have been laid for her since season 6/7 and farther foreshadowing since earlier seasons.

    • @Nesssssaaa
      @Nesssssaaa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      U speaking nothing but FACTS!!!!
Jon bent the knee AFTER Dany said she would fight for him when she saved his life. He felt he owed her after she lost her dragon. It was a singular decision. Then he gets upset at Sansa for not supporting him just giving up the ONE THING she had to convince him to fight for in the first place! I love Jon but he doesn’t have a right to be mad that Sansa won’t support a foreigner. He had the opportunity to go and meet with her and fall in love but Sansa didn’t and she not just anybody she’s a Stark!

All that aside, its crazy how Sansa is disliked for wanting a kingdom she literally aided in re-establishing. Even if that's ALL she wanted, was a throne or to be queen....wtf is the issue??? I can hear Margaery saying she wanted to be "THEE Queen," and no one batted an eye! If Sansa wants a crown- WHO F**CKING CARES!!!!! We've watched 8 seasons of this attitude from everyone else. Like, seriously.... a show called GAME OF THRONES, where almost EVERY MAIN CHARACTER is fighting for a throne....it is ABSURD! DISGRACEFUL EVEN!(😂😂) for Sansa to maneuver to get her RIGHTFUL home back (after Jon gave it away unncessarily). And her "betrayal" is literally telling the truth🙃
My goodness, I understand that people are attached to their fav characters and their desired outcomes/arcs, but out of all 8 seasons of betrayal and manipulation, you'd think that Sansa committed the most scandalous and heinous action of them all!🤣🤣🤣

Missandei's skill as an interpreter were not needed, she can't fight or ride either of the dragons, and she can't swim. Why is Missandei there, other than to be a potential hostage? This would have not been the first time Daenerys went to battle without Missandei, and it didn't make any sense for Missandei to be with the fleet and army this time. To me, a better story would have been Jamie (with Bron's help) kidnapping Missandei, and bringing her as an apology gift to his sister. Daenerys would have hastily flew to Kings Landing in order to take her best friend, confidant, back with a slightly improved motivation for revenge, feeling the recent betrayal of not just Cersai, but Jamie as well. From here on, I'd continue with the story as told, with Euron's surprise attack/murder of one of Daenerys' dragons, and the senseless, just plain mean, execution of Missandei.

Dany has been "liberating" cities by burning crucifying executing everyone who stood in her way since S2. Dany's unchecked revolutionary zeal and her authoritarianism was always meant to be her undoing. The lesson of the story was always "power without accountability can never truly liberate". There are no good tsars. How many "they can live in my new world or die in their old one" did we need for that to register? There's scene after scene of Jorah, Barristan, Hizdar, Tyrion all begging her to keep her worst impulses in check. Her taking the most extreme decisions and then getting bailed out by Muh Dragonz. None of the observations made in this episode about her mood and methods of ruling came out of the blue. They were all extensions of what was already said in previous seasons, no matter how in denial ppl got. The last of her disenchanted well wishers questioning her fitness to rule just puts a bow on it. Jaime was always written a tragic antihero. He was never gonna have a happy ending. His entire arc wasn't about becoming some cliche hashtag goodguy, it was him overturning the kingslayer legacy which he does at the very end. What he does is more honorable and more "redeeming" than any cringe happy ending with Brienne would've been. Jaime saying "until you and I are the only ones left" was the only constant of Game of Thrones from the third episode to The Bells. It wouldn't have fit a proud and unbowed Bloody Mary type character like Cersei to beg and grovel at Dany's feet for fan service. The less I'm reminded of the goofy Disney cringe fan theory of Arya wearing Jaime's mask, the better. No, the best out for her was to be crushed by the weight of her kingdom. The Valonqor does happen, but in a completely subversive way that the Big Brains never thought of. But the thing that makes fans most mad is being denied the chance to mindlessly cheer for clearly defined TeamGoodGuys in a sterile and romanticized war with no ethical quandary, over pizza and wings like it's superbowl sunday. That's why they get mad at the pangs of consicence they feel watching Tyrion and Jaime hug and cry. That part, is the most realistic depiction of war more than any cgi fight scene.

Damn, IT wasn't TEN MINUTES ago, more like 24-48 hours ago...PAY attention., She being shown totally conflicted also, Sansa's thinking of her house, family and the North's future, she want Jon on the throne over Danny, Sansa gave Tyrion a better and legitimate option and it's a smart move:
Jon was born in Westeros, son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, the south loved Rhaegar, the north loves Lyanna and the Starks, Jon was raised by one of the most honorable man in Westeros, a family whose name go back 8000 years , proven he can get different factions to work together, liked by many, knows the customs of the south, the north and the wildings and on top of that HE'S FAMILY !!!

Sansa had a point that the army needed to rest a bit, but Dany is so damn set on that throne - that she doesn't deserve, or she isn't the heir. She's done nothing in Westeros to prove that she's there for good reasons. This isn't the East.

How long did they take to build Shae and Tyrion or even Robb and Talissa. Dany saves Jon in 7x6. They make out in 7x7 and their world falls apart 3 episodes later. Jane Austen couldn't have made an emotional attachment out of a romance that rushed! I think with time and proper buildup there could've been a lot of mileage to that Dany Jon Sansa triangle. I don't think it was a forced conflict,I think it was a rushed conflict. The antagonism of North and South was always at the heart and soul of GoT. Their paths were always leading to this. But it did not feel organic cause it was an afterthought, sandwiched between two rushed storylines to serve as a bridge. The "isolation in foreign land" concept makes all the sense for someone who has always been insecure, not good at handling dissent, used to adulation. But they dumbed it down to showing close-ups of Dany's face to demonstrate "her descent into isolation and paranoia". When was the last time GoT relied on "voices in the head" trope to relay an important message? Never. But we hear Dario in the preview! Lazy narrative device. When Sam said "you gave up your crown, will she do the same?" that was spot on. I'm fascinated by the "good ruler who doesn't want to rule but has leadership forced upon him" premise. But it's mostly words shoved down in the span of a few episodes instead of showing by example. What we should've gotten was more of a contrast of Dany and Jon's leadership styles in Westeros, the "Targaryen heads & tails" in action. More of the politics, like giving Gendry Storm's End. A turn had to have happened. It would've never been as easy as Dany and Jon "ruling together" or some of the other simplistic outcomes people cry about. Maybe Sansa should've married Jon and betrayed him more explicitly for it to have worked. Maybe it could've been Tyrion betraying Dany, with Tyrion as a prototype of Richard III. But whatever it was, it needed time, a slower burn, and a less heavy handed "inciting incident". Instead we get jealous Dany serving Mean Girls looks at dinner. The execution of Last of the Starks is horrid. NOT because of the direction they go, but the lazy shit they cram in at breakneck speed to get there. *That scene of Dany pleading with Jon about Sansa would be an extremely compelling moment if it came at the end of a long arc and not a 3 episode relationship*

I think the biggest reason people get so down on the final season is the fact that it took almost 2 years between season seven and season eight, and we were promised hour and a half long movie like episodes, and really only episode three fit that bill. I just think it had too long of a period of time that allowed expectations to grow beyond reality, coupled with the fact that they had to tie up so many loose ends in one season.

The total running time of S8 is 7 hours and 10 minutes, as opposed to the usual nine hours and a change of the first six seasons. E3 is 82 minutes long, E4 and E5 are 78 minutes long and E6 is 80 minutes long. So you've got four episodes that could practically qualify for shorter feature films of, unprecedented for TV, cinematic quality. And all this done in 2 years. Methinks fans whinge too much.

This move of hers screams Littlefinger to me. She knew it would cause chaos, and chaos provides secondary characters with a chance to rise. And if John is King of the Seven Kingdoms, he can't be King of the North as well, so naturally the gig would be hers.

Just occurred to me that Tyrion's plea to Cersei probably didn't affect her because of more than just her being a monster and hating Tyrion, although she's both of those things as well. She had her future told to her, right? And everything she was told came true. Which means that she knows that no matter what, she's never going to have another child past the 3 that died. I believe she's been telling the truth about the pregnancy, but she doesn't actually think she's going to have the kid. She's just been using it as leverage to manipulate Jaime and Euron.

i have to believe that Jaime left Brienne in that way bc 1.) he doesn't think he deserves her. she's wholly good in his eyes and he's done so much wrong. 2.) he knows Cersei is a monster that he helped create and feels responsible/still loves her 3.) doesn't want Brienne to follow him to King's Landing. i have to believe that bc otherwise his character arc makes no goddamned sense.

To be fair… Sansa is playing the Game of Thrones… don’t forget she was essentially trained by Cersei and LittleFinger…. People seem to forget that in the game of Thrones there really is no loyalty….Sansa is looking out for herself and the North… PERIODT just like everyone else did in this show who attained and obtained POWER…… Also my I suggest that once you finish watching this season that you watch Leslie Jones live tweet of season 8. It’s hilarious and you will need some laughter after this season. Aleph F.Zero is the TH-camr who complied her live tweets and made them into a video. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Now tbh, I don't really blame Sansa for telling Tyrion about Jon's true heritage. She knows Dany isn't right for the throne, and Jon is the better option. Sansa wasn't being spiteful and selfish. She's really thinking about what's best for Westeros- and Danearys isn't it. We can clearly see that she's heading towards a dark road, and they don't need a ruler like that. Jon is way more level headed. But anyways, R.I.P Misande...Next up, The Bells😈😈🔥🔥🔥🔥

Sansa was 1000% thinking about herself, are you kidding me. She wants the North to be Independent from the Throne so she can be Lady of Winterfell, which wouldn't happen under Dany. She is using the lesson she learned from Littlefinger, chaos is a ladder.

Not because of who wins the throne, but because the legendary monster that's been waiting for thousands of years the most strong enemy looks weaker than Cersei!!! The finished him in the third episode i wish it was the last episode. And i wish that he reached kings landing and killed Cersei before he's gone!
And the other thing is the "prince who was promised" became Aria Stark for no good reason.. There is a reason but it is a bad one😂

Such a dark dark episode... The sad goodbyes ...Jamie. who's really a good guy, not able to fight his addiction. Another dragon dying...Gray Worm's only ever love murdered right after they made forever plans to go to Narth. Dany in one hour lost her friend...her child.. sees people cheering on her one threat to the throne (if she wins) and having to put up with listening to them praise Jon (for riding a dragon no less lol) She's at rock bottom and who knows what she's about to do. Everything is going wrong... And the episode had a few writing issues which people will always complain about... but WOW what a cliffhanger for a final battle. Every major character is faced with a decision now. So many things can go either way now and everyone can affect what happens.. This one was so frustrating but an incredible set up for the end.

There are three scenes I always check from each reactor: Ned's death, John & Master Aemon and Dany & Mirri Maz Durr.
The first is to see how tied they are to conventional narratives, i.e. how long will they be in denial that Ned will die even after Joffrey has given the order (some are in denial right up to the moment the axe strikes). Bonus points if they express some degree of concern even before Joffrey speaks.
The second is to see their reaction to the seemingly scandalous idea that 'love' should not be the surpreme driving force in a person, but duty.
The third is to see their sense of morality, i.e. how complex and nuanced it is. If they are all like 'Kill the witch!' I stop taking them seriously and stop following them, but if they offer a more measured take on the whole situation, I keep watching them.

I like the outcome, I don't think Missandei's death should be the straw that broke the camel's back at the end of the day she's Daenarys' friend, she has no significant strategic importance and Daenarys has a duty. I like the outcome of episode 5. It is the outcome the show and books have been building too its GRRM's vision, the showrunners did an awful job building to it.

My brother. Great review!!! I love your reactions. This episode was hard and deflated me. Cersei is horrible. I can’t believe Jamie is going back and left Brienne. I thought for a second that her love would keep him there, but no such luck. Arya put it on Gendry and he was whooped. It hurt losing another dragon and Misandi. I think Cersei pushed Dany over the top. I feel so bad for grey worm. Man the looks on your face when Brienne got naked had me rolling. Tormund was heart broken. It was shocking to see the arrows take the dragon down and sucker Euron was behind it. That fool has to get Merked as he want’s Cersei so bad and to have power. Not to mention that he got in her pants and totally has no respect for Jamie. It’s been a journey my brother. All that I can hope is that the new GOT is just as good or even better, if that is even possible.

In most shows the villains IQ drops to single digits when it's time for the final showdown and they lose despite being immensely overpowered.
In Game of Thrones, the main villain is at a decidedly disadvantageous situation due to her lack of dragons, yet time and time again finds ways to stymie the good guys.
This, among many other reasons, is why this is a show unlike any other.
