I used to walk this Theater early 2024 , it's still there , I don't know how many famous bands played there. Echo & the Bunnymen played there many times I believe. Last time was Mon 25 Mar and Tue 26 Mar 2024.
I was at this concert , great memories of this, Kate Bush, squeeze and stiff little fingers all at the Liverpool empire. I miss these kind of shows, concerts. Liverpool has changed so much since then.

I would have loved to have seen Queen, infact I’m surprised I didn’t if they played at the empire at that time. I consider myself very lucky to have seen some great artists at that venue.
Oh how wonderful. I will enjoy this. The 2nd May was my first ever concert and i have great memories of it. It remains my all time favourite gig and seeing them in Liverpool last year was a nice bookend to all the concerts on every tour inbetween. Thankyou.
@@richarddavies8496 how come genesis are never considered as rock “legends”? Also queen had enough ticket demand to sell out Wembley stadium for 6 nights in 1986. But they couldn’t rent the stadium for extra days because the stadium was being used for another purpose. That is why they added an extra show at knebworth park. Also pink flyod was doing stadiums in the 80s as well.
I loved Duchess on this tour. I was at the rescheduled (from Bournemouth) gig at Southampton Gaumont. All the green lights reflecting off the chrome of the drum hardware were superb. So much energy on this tour in proper venues. It was amazing.
Saw this tour in Blackpool, my introduction to live music I was 15 I'm 61 now and my life as revolved around music, fav band then and still to this day, great memories

Oh my. If that full 16mm ever reappears it’ll be overwhelming. Their best tour, imho (I saw them both nights in Birmingham), and despite understandable nostalgia for Pete and Steve (both of whom I saw), and despite the bigger productions of later tours, I think this was the pinnacle.
This was shot by Granada TV, they made a small docu about the band. I think the whole show was filmed, also the promo video for Dutchess was filmed in this theatre.

I saw this tour. I vividly remember the Deep In The Motherload opener. The baseline ran for a good while before the rest of the song kicked in and really got the crowd in anticipation. You knew you were in for something good.
On the 2nd box set 5 May 1980 version you can hear the In the Cage style clapping and the guy shouting "GET ON WITH IT!" I always wondered whether that was the same dude who screamed the same on the 1984 live NEC video before In The Cage.😂

It was about being kind and understanding that we can only influence, not control. RIP JERRY, ROBERT, and all who left us believing that we could help make the world a better place. There seem to be more challenges everyday, but I believe I am capable of making every person I meets day a bit better, and I refuse to believe doesn't matter.
Great to see footage from this tour. I saw them in Bradford City Hall after standing outside in a queue with 'new' university friends one cold November night. Wonderful times❤

I was at the second night in The Manchester Apollo, two weeks previous to this, on 19th April 1980. I'd absolutely love it if some video footage (or even just some audio) of that show surfaced here on TH-cam.....
@srirahulpremkumar1600 I don’t know the answer to your question but I can tell you that where I come from (Ireland), in the 1970’s Genesis wasn’t anywhere near as popular as many other bands eg - LZ, PF, YES, JT, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple…..etc. But that all changed after Duke.
This is when Phil Collins voice was at its best during Duke and abacab but my favorite album by them is Trick of the tail those are some of the best shows with Bill bruford on drums.... coming to you from Louisiana. And then there were three is pretty good too and I dig some of the stuff off the self-titled album from 83 but from 76 to 82 they were one of the best live bands you will ever see
I was at these shows, I'm sure there was a sunday afternoon matinee too? I virtually lived at The Liverpool Empire from '76-mid 80's, saw so many bands & all for less than £4.00, now my son 's band sell out the empire every year, crazy world!
My favourite concert from the empire was seeing Kate Bush on her tour of life opening up at the empire, I consider myself so very lucky to have seen that tour.
They also played Sheffield which must have been before Liverpool as Phil is wearing the red sneakers which he purchased from Sheffield on the afternoon of the show. Happy memories.

Hello David, no there is no way to prevent this. The only solution is to promote our work as soon as possible. He has very few views and will rarely show up in any YT search.
If you mean audio compression, we sometimes use a small amount in the upper-mids because it brings out the percussion (snare, cymbals, etc) in some older tapes that can sound muffled or dull. However, we make all of these projects to sound and look best to us, and may not match everyone's preferences. In addition, TH-cam uses low bitrates and high compression that can affect the results as well.

Saw this small scale show (still stunning!!) at Friars Aylesbury; March 1980- slept out all night in the old cattle market to get my ticket.

I was here on the 2nd - yellow shirt day - row 2 as I recall. They filmed a fair bit but not all of the concert.

Saw this in Toronto in June 1980. One of the two sold out shows of 17,000 each at Maple Leaf Gardens
Unfortunately I never got to see them live in person. All these concerts footage from throughout the years, more than makes up for it.

At 13:40 Phil drops a drumstick and, like a gunslinger, draws a replacement one in a blink of an eye, without any loss to the stuff he's playing.
If you look closely, he is seen examining the stick before he chucks it for a new one! Good spot!
