Thanks for sharing! My very first bike was a (new) '75 CB400F, so this one is pretty special to me. What an absolutely gorgeous machine!

The exhaust had an odd profile. If you pop into 6th gear it's super quiet, even with a faring on it. I miss this bike, it was a nice comfortable light cruiser.

Had a cherry coloured one in1977. Nice to hear the cam chain rattle. which was a characteristic of he model!

This is almost almost identical to my 400 Four (which was Blue) It was a superb bike.

Wow, they made 5 different color models of these bikes in the 3 yrs of production.

Mine was blue, also. I really liked the contrast of the red lettering. That was certainly my favorite color combination.

Got mine in 1977 .had ace bars on it dresda Barcelona fairing, yoshimara 460 reborn and exhaust. Many camping holidays on it. Shame it had the same forks and wheels as CB 250 g5 always under braked although not so much traffic. Have Yamaha Fazer 600 now.

Looks lovely, never a great fan of the 400 back in the day bit too small, jumped straight onto a 550 supers port but would love a 500 four now, they revelled out to oblivion 😂, ps is that rattle at idle the timing chain?

Yes, the timing chains on the 400f and 750f sounded like noisy sewing machines

pillion pegs on the swing arm suggest an earlier '75 or '76 model but you've got the '77 Canary yellow livery. Nice to see the engine casings and fork lowers aren't highly polished.

I have two 1977 bike's. My footpegs are also on the swing arm. I also thought that was not correct for the 77 model. However, I now stand corrected (at least for the US model)

Camchain rattles! and needs carb balance, new camchain and tensioner.

Timing chain shouldn't be rattling so much.

Also that gas cap does not look stock.

These 400f’s were notorious for timing chain rattle. Cb750 is too. Gas cap is stock for that model year. Earlier models had a chrome cap.
