Derek, looks like a successful fix for the cush drive rubbers. This is one of the reasons that I like my old Goldwings (GL1500 & GL1100) as they have low maintenance shaft drives. I did remove the rear wheel on my 1977 Kawasaki Z1000 and the cush rubbers were in surprisingly good condition saying they are well over 40 years old. Need to carry out a few maintenance tasks on my bike prior to the start of the riding season, trouble is the garage is rather cold at the moment. A few years ago I used to heat my garage but the increase in energy costs as made that no longer possible. Ride safe Sir.
The rubbers on the H1 look brand new, which makes me suspect that they're aftermarket items. Probably explains the poor fit 😬 I know what you mean about cold garages. I was thinking of installing a wood burner in mine. Was impressed by the amount of heat they chuck out. 🔥
At least your bike has a front disc, so your braking anxiety will be a bit less than mine. What condition is the bike in? Hopefully you'll enjoy the Kawasaki triple experience 😄 Thanks for watching my videos 👍
I have an important tip from one H1 owner to another. Never roll the bike backwards in gear with the clutch pulled in (i.e. always roll it backwards in neutral). Due to a design fault, the internal kick start spring can sometimes engage, leading to a mangled spring and a non-functioning kick start. This then requires an engine strip to fix. I learned this from 1st hand experience!
@@derekb2765 I'm not sure about the KH's (neutral between 1st and 2nd), but I'm pretty sure it is an issue with all the other H1's. Here's an interesting video that explains it: th-cam.com/video/FLpFrrzak9U/w-d-xo.html
That seemed to do the trick, Derek. I work in my shed dressed in a t shirt, sweat shirt, boilersuit, and fleece! I have an oil filled radiator, too. I'm cleaning and preparing an engine for my FZR1000 Genesis, it's painted Black, but peeling badly, well it's front 1988!
It could be bad prep or a bad substrate. My CB750 tank needs repainting because of bad primer 🙄 You'll have to retune the bike with the Higgys. And remove the centre stand 😬
@@derekb2765 I got the center stand off already and the pipes on. Waiting on the rubber mounts I ordered to rubber mount the rear of the pipes. Can’t wait to ride her and tune her this summer. Right now it’s taking 4-7 kicks to fire up in this freezing winter weather with old fuel. New vid on it out next Saturday.
Fuel quality makes a difference. I put new fuel in my S2A, and it was starting after only a couple of kicks. But then I discovered a problem that I will be covering in subsequent videos!!! 😯
What a clever fix. Thanks for sharing
Cheers mate! 👍🏿 But I can't take full credit for it 😉

Great work Derek! A lot cleaner than the olive oil suggestion I gave. 🙂
Thanks! 👍🏿 I can't take all the credit though. The initial idea came from one of my viewers 😀
Dessie my man! I am in the process of buying a H1F and I'm watching your videos to get an idea of what I am letting myself in for...

I have the exact bike , I rode it last night, it never gets old!!! The 1975-H2 -750 is also phenomenal
Thanks for watching the video 👍 The 1969s are rare. I've never seen another one in the wild 😯 My H2 is a 1974.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip! ☺️
Did that affect all 1969 to 1975 models? 🤔

That was an interesting watch. Cheers! 👍🏿

Yeah, hopefully it's sorted the problem, and for minimal cost! 😀
Like you, I try to get jobs done despite the cold. 🥶
That’s a good tip
Thanks mate!
I see you've got a couple more mods to make to your KH500 🤔
@@derekb2765 it’ll also be needing a repaint in the future. All the panels paint is bubbled from bad prep.

Good tip, but why the really annoying music?
I like to add a touch of musical nostalgia now and then! 😉
Thanks for watching the video 👍
