We had the Beausoleil French Carp and Cats lake netted just before Christmas to remove silver fish and small catfish. The operation was a great success and it was wonderful to see all our fish in one go and a great experience for us. We then added 22 new carp to the lake. Here's a video of the whole experience. www.frenchcarpandcats.com
Wow thanks matt real insight to what goes on other than videos trying to sell you the next gimmick one of the best TH-cam channel every thought of doing a video in to bait making or other how it's made sort of stuff
Hi Matt, does the water from the lake drain into a river and does the quality of the lake water have to be inspected before you are granted permission to drain ?
Hi Tim, so in France every time you do a drain down you need authorization from the water board. They decide when and if you can drain down. Our lake drains into a small stream that flows into other lakes. They’ve never tested our water, maybe they do in other areas of France. It’s more a case of how your water will affect those downstream from you. Cheers, Matt.
Hi Liam, still going through the archives 💪 So we’ve got 80 carp to 48lbs, with average carp size of 35lbs, and a dozen cats from 50 to 100lbs+ and current lake record at 125lbs.
No, they're not. Professional fish farmers do these nettings across many lakes over the winter period and they’re fully equipped to deal with this amount of fish on their premises. After the netting, the fish are sorted, graded, put into holding tanks or ponds for resale.
Great fish care going in.NOT. just whacking them in the sorting nets or leaving them in boats with bigger fish on top. Would have expected better from you. Also whats happened to the smaller cats and silvers?
This is the reality of nettings sometimes. The fish farmer and his team are professionals but they ran out of cages, we had to improvise with the rowing boat. Nettings are tricky and this first one was a massive learning curve, we are better prepared now. We did our best to look after the fish. The fish farmer took the smaller cats and the silvers.

Were any of the fish killed by the fish farmer do you think? After he took them, its alot to care for.
