Nice work with the mods, DJ, and really neat to see the Fairchild and NABU joysticks side by side like that. I've got a Fairchild in box but I've never tried to start it up.

Hey Dj I’ve loved your robots been watching since your wallie build. I just had a quick question I’m about to start a big project however will have to pay the subscription for ARC. If I sub to it for a year am I right in saying I can then use the free version to run my robot? Or do I have to keep paying to run the poor fella 😅 cheers

Happy new year :) nah once you’re done programming use the Runtime edition to run your existing robot program for ever. Thanks for supporting us!

Such great memories! I had an Atari VCS and my friend had a Channel F so we used to bring them to eachothers house every weekend and just play a ton of games!
Robot Wars is a great game where, as you noticed, you have to trick the robots to hit the blue squares (mines) so that they die. When a robot catches you one of the blue mines disappear and the robot respawn. This goes on until you either kill all robots and you win or all the blue squares are gone (which is the same as you no longer have any means of killing the robots) and you lose!

A week a go I saw a working NABU at a MSX retro fair in the Netherlands. It was shown because the NABU system was similar to a MSX1 computer. Same Z80 processor, same video chip and same sound generator. The owner showed the possibilities of the system and played some old games from Konami (maybe ported from the original MSX cartridge).

Maybe we'll see these Fairchild games ported to the NABU soon...?

Maybe will see a Pi inside emulating a Nabu, running CP/M to launch an Fairchild game !

Do you still have the pong cart? You could always dump the ROM from the cart chips, and add the file to the emulator... :)

What’s more rare, the Fairchild joystick or the NABU one…
