Famous tourist destination, Aharbal in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, may emerge as the oldest and diverse fossil site in Kashmir.
The exact site which is barely 2 km from the famous Aharbal waterfall along the Kunghwatan route, has been discovered by Dr Rouf Hamza and Manzoor Javaid, hailing from Dooru and Achabal areas of Anantnag district.
Both are lecturers by profession in school education department and are associated with School Herbal Gardens as nodal officers.

One more thing,,, Houen Heng is one of the topest mountain in kulgam,,On 7th February 1966 a Fokker F 27 IA aircraft veered 12 miles off its course, crashing straight into the mountain, claiming all 37 lives on board.
District kulgam was formed in 2008. Kulgam district formed from district Anantnag.

Birth of sufi saint Hazrat sheikh ul alam r.a. was predicted before his birth. prophet saw came to hazrate hussain simnan r.a. in a dream and asked him to visit SAR e HIND (means head of hind now referred to as Kashmir)
LAL ded and Parents of sheikul alam r.a. embraced islam when he visited.
Sheikul aalam r.a and Lal ded r.a both personalities are of Kashmir origin.Sheikul alam r.a laid the foundation of Reshi order in kashmir and Lal ded was the first poetess of Kashmir.Hazrat Amir kabir r.a came to kashmir from HaMDaN by his own will.HE was not invited by anyone.
