Love the line "I've made more mistakes than any man woman or child" because it really gives you a feel for how wise Ozpin is. He's doesn't know better than people because he's some kind of super genius, he's fallible, but it's because he's made so many mistakes that he can guide the younger generations to great things
Yup. Experience is best teacher and you will fail along the way. Hopefully you learn from mistakes but not always. Sometimes it takes multiple “failures” 🙂🤗
The speech that Headmaster Ozpin and Professor Port give is such a strong and amazing way to be better with yourself. One of my favourite motivational moments, that truly shows that these two care and want to see everyone succeed.
The thing you start to notice here about Weiss is she is naturally kind person deep down, but her upbringing instilled her with alot of negative personality traits that she believes is how she should act, but now she is out in the real world, and as they say, the cure to ignorance is to travel.
Fun Facts: Episode 9: Fact 1: On the commentaries, Monty mentions that Ninjas of Love is a "call-out" to a similar joke (the Icha Icha series) from Naruto. Fact 2: When JNPR is peering outside their door while standing on top of each other, Miles and Kerry describe it as their "Scooby Doo" moment. Fact 3: Early in the episode, a poster of the "Achieve Men" can be seen on the wall. This is a reference to Rooster Teeth's gaming members called the Achievement Hunters. This also references Geoff Ramsey's original name for the website which would have been "Achieve Men". The poster and poses are from the "Boy Band" poster that is sold on Rooster Teeth's online store. Fact 4: Among the items Yang Xiao Long is carrying from 1:37-1:44 are items belonging to several other characters, namely Ruby's headphones and corgi dog pillow, Professor Oobleck's thermos, called Antiquity's Roast, Pyrrha Nikos' shield Akoúo̱ (albeit smaller), Nora Valkyrie's hairbrush, the candles Blake used in "The Shining Beacon, Pt.2", Weiss' "Dust For Dummies" pamphlet, and white queen and black knight chess pieces. Fact 5: Among the things that fall out of Blake's suitcase, a Shi-nee Toothpaste container is seen. Fact 6: The student who shouts "EEEE-YUUP!" in the classroom is a reference to Andrew Blanchard's catchphrase from the Internet Box Podcast, which several cast and crew members of RWBY also work on. However, the voice was provided by Kerry Shawcross. Fact 7: The shouted line "Banzai!" followed by Ruby, Blake, and Yang turning at an angle on their hips with their arms held high (followed by a musical "whump" noise) is a reference to Samurai Champloo, when the main characters did the same thing after finding a bag of gold in the river. Episode 10: Fact 1: Some of the text in Ruby's book is the same text from Blake's book in "The Shining Beacon, Pt.2". Fact 2: Many fans claim that Port capturing live Grimm and keeping them in cages is a reference to his voice actor, Ryan Haywood, keeping a cow named Edgar trapped under his house in Minecraft. However, as Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross have said, this episode was written long before Ryan captured Edgar. This parallel between Port and Ryan was merely coincidence.
Once you learn more about Weiss and her family and upbringing, her behavior makes much more sense. Having watched RWBY multiple times now, seeing Weiss' character growth is so satisfying
With Weiss it's a little less 'I want to be the best' and more 'I *have* to be the best'. No spoilers, but as she is an heiress, she is expected to perform far above everyone around her, which is where that entitled mindset comes from.
Don’t worry. The bunk beds only look unstable. Fun fact: Each of the types of Grimm have different names. Bears - Ursa Wolves - Beowolves Scorpion - Deathstalkers Ravens - Nevermore Boars - Boarbatusk Two headed Snake - King Taijitu
Deathstalkers is the coolest grim name. Though like how the Bears are named after the constellation, which is the Latin name but still feels like it was inspired from the constellation 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 The world of Remnant have their own constellations based off of Grimm that you are going to eventually see in later Volumes I'll tell you them when they end up getting introduce.
Yeah, it’ll take a little longer for Weiss to completely open up, but she’s making great progress. And Ruby…seriously, I would love to have a “bestie” like her. Or even just a sister. Of course, Yang comes as part of *that* package deal, but that’s cool too. Just got to avoid pissing her off. No problem…right?

I've realized when something, emotional, or deep happens and Bethany is quiet she cooking up a very well put synopsis in her head for the end of the video lol.
Weiss assumes she should assume leadership based on her social standing and skills, but in the case of JNPR and RWBY, it's clear both leaders were chosen for their ability to think on their feet and come up with battle plans on the fly.
In case you guys didn't know: Juane Arc is based on Joan of Arc, Nora Valkari is based on Thor, Pyrrha Nikos is based on Akillies, and Ren is based on Mulan. The theme is people who've disguised themselves as the opposite gender.
*INTRODUCING* - Professor Peter Port (Peter & the Wolf) *WEAPONS* - Professor Port's Blowhard (blunderbuss + axe) *TERMS* - Kingdoms: Vale, Haven, Atlas, and Vacuo - the capitals of Remnant's four nations, and the greater strongholds against threats like the Grimm. *MY COMMENTS* - You could barely see it, but the Grimm that Weiss killed was disintegrating - that's what happens to any dead Grimm. All of Port's Grimm trophies are merely facsimiles of Grimm that he defeated.
Hi there DnD, Nicely done on the reaction, and understanding all of the viewpoints of everyone within the class and the lessons afterwards. Looking forward to the next reaction. Take care.
You don't know it yet but the line Ozpin said, "Ruby, I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child on the face of this planet." Is honestly a good bit of foreshadowing
I cant stand Portman's consitant...ah-ha and I am a teacher and was a powerful warrior in my days....but surprisingly gives great advise when push comes to shove
Also during professor ports class he's telling the story of him fighting a Beowulf, which I've seen is an allusion to another story, but I can't help but see the similarities to the real book Beowulf which we don't actually have the entire original story of. You noticed all the "blah blah blah" sections of his story. I believe that's purposeful. Probably just me though because I'm the only one I ever see mention it lol.
Continuing on through RWBY, yay!!! The meat is still coming, these episodes were quite good though, really started hitting the emotional core of the story and characters. Can't wait for more. Cheers!
The thing is whilst she doesn't say it in an acceptable way, Weiss is actually right, for the first part of the series ruby puts herself and others in danger because she's caught up in the romance of the job, whilst it's easy to agree with ruby and side with her because she is a nicer person it doesn't necessarily put her in the right. Professer ozpin understood that which is why he tells her what he does. This scene was about both of them learning to be better. Weiss learning to be a better person, rwby learning to be a better leader.
It would be interesting to see a reaction to Ice Queendom after either catching up with the series as a whole or getting through Volume 2 as its an anime retelling of Volume 1 with added bits to make more sense of the more hanky parts as it goes through the first volume in a couple episodes and then tells a new side story for the time between Volumes 1 and 2 that goes more into the different backgrounds of the four characters.
So far there is no explanation on why Ozpin give the leadership to Ruby or Jaune but in the old days most people think it was because in the figth of the Nevermore while Yang plan didn't work Ruby did so does Jaune with the Deathstalker
Another thing you kinda didn't mention, but probably noticed... After the talk, see how Ruby is taking her studying seriously... She even stuck at it until she fell asleep... That or she goofed off and left it until the last minute or maybe was just really bad at it lol... I choose to believe she was taking things seriously though ^_^; Also, I find it interesting what the two teachers say... Ozpin: I've made more mistakes than everyone on this planet... Port: Ozpin has never lead me astray! Even with just the Ozpin part, it seems unlikely, even if he's reasonably old, but add to that what Port says, Ozpin must have had a busy life if he made all those mistakes and then did well for many years... Possibly Ozpin is older than he seems? Maybe he's just exaggerating... Still, I find it intriguing... Almost as intriguing as the contents of Ninjas of Love lol.
Love love love the advice from ozpin and port. I actually use it myself. And it turns out, when you are your best person in a workplace that needs it, people see you differently. Now I just need to recruit for my coup, progress is slow so far! xD

Loving watching these reactions, you guys have some interesting thoughts on the show ^^ A little thing I learned much later, due to some study on the subject, that I think would benefit you to notice now rather than later like most, is that Ruby is lonely. It has yet to be confirmed in normal canon and was just recently confirmed in the spin-off series Ice Queendom, but after looking back through the series I notice a good amount of easily missed signs. She exhibits two signs of a deep loneliness this early in the series, obsession with inanimate objects and speaking too much when given the chance of someone that will listen. I hope this helps you understand Ruby's point of view a little better throughout the series.
Weiss is essentially the Vegeta of RWBY. She tries a lot but her own arrogance and self perpetuated high headed mentality is more often than not her own downfall. To put that into perspective, Yang is like the Goku to her, and Ruby is like the Gohan. Theres potential, but Ruby is still incredibly green despite her natural talent.
12:06 everyone else is asleep so its probably the middle of the night. Instead of seeing that ruby was making an effort and letting her sleep (maybe moving her stuff out of the way) she gets her coffee so she can stay up the rest of the night studying and be dog tired the next day XD I love Weiss but that's messed up lol I'm not saying she's trying to exhaust her but anyone that's pulled an all nighter knows how heavy your body feels the next day.
HOW DID I NOT KNOW YALL WERE WATCHING RWBY, This show is what lead me to get into anime in the first place. Its One of my favorites. Alot of Great times and scenes in this show! cant wait for more :D

Ports wink towards Yang is so much creepier now than it was back in 2013. If anyone has been following the comings and goings of rooster teeth the last few years knows why.
Great pair of episodes as the teams get settled into their school life. Professor Port (When it mattters...) & Ozpin both showed their wisdom very well. Now, this won't be the first bump in the road for Weiss & Ruby..... But, it is a good start to a great friendship.... Hopefully!! LOL 😎👍🌹❄👏
Surely Weiss must need to have a bit of more fun life with her elegance, her being in a team would work effectively for she is skilled alone. Weiss needs to open up and she can help others. Ruby she can be a leader, she may be underestimated even she needs some guidance, at least she livens up the team.
So no spoilers but when you finish the seires go back and rewatch episode 8 and pay close attention to one character, you'll know which when you reach the end of the volume.
I'm not sure if it's really as obvious as I might think it is, but imo Weiss hates that people think of her... how she presents herself! She doesn't like to be called bossy, or princess. When an adult, an esteemed hunter and teacher, tells her how people are seeing her, she reflects immediately. Even corrects herself! "Not entirely true."
