I took the Steel Toe Tour today with JoAnn our guide who knew the operation inside and out. Walking around the plant you get a sense that this is more than a factory job for these employees. They put their heart and soul into building the bikes and this is evident by the high level of quality control and attention to every detail in each step of the operation. You come away with a new appreciation of what goes on behind the brand name on the bike. Thanks H-D and JoAnn!!!
Definitely on the bucket list for 2019 with my son. My son and I rode each our own H-D to the 115 from Montreal. What a dream come true. H-D build fine machines but mostly lifetime dreams come true.
If Harley brings back the Dynas, then I'll be glad to purchase one. No worries, I love the Low Rider, 48 Special, and Softail Deluxe. Great looking bikes. Thanks Harley-Davidson.
The CEO is a soyboy bean counter. Willing to bet Sportster is next on the chopping block. If that's the case, my next one will be a FTR1200. Currently on a 17 FXDLS.

This is not at all like it was when I worked there in 2002 and 2003. I was a college summer hire 3rd shift NO robots were doing the work like this. Sad. My mom was laid off along with over 1,000 others probably 2k but I can’t remember exactly. She worked with one partner to build bikes from the frame to completion every single day. It was hard work. Did she ever get a bike? Nope. We are grateful for the opportunity though. I miss the smell and the camaraderie of working there. Do not miss the heat! No a/c, metal particles and dust everywhere in the air, on clothes, floor, surfaces.. super hot inside 110° wearing steel toe boots and working on few hours sleep. ❤️ My jobs included carburetors, pulling gas tanks and fenders off the paint line and onto huge heavy carts bigger than me, walking them down the warehouse aisles trying to dodge the fast moving tow motors, Doing the electrical clips on fenders and connecting brake lights, adding/pressing the medallions on the 100 year anniversary tanks…it was interesting and paid me well for a high school graduate but a sweatshop for sure.
im guessing due to covid they lost some people but from what i hear they're hiring like shit in my area went on a tour while i was in job corps and fell in love with how these amazing bikes were made

tried to book the steel toe tour, but they closed off the entire middle of summer because of retooling. decided to get the walk in tour, because there was nothing else available. it was the most shit tour i have ever been on. 2 hr ride so i could watch a 10 minute propaganda video, see a fender stamping machine, and visit the gift shop. the highlight of the tour happened before i even entered the building. i saw an eagle carrying a 4' snake as i rode into the lot. i won't be going there again, and i won't be recommending it to my buddies. thanks for wasting one day of my vacation this summer. my buddy rode all the way from ontario for this. what a disappointment

The powder coat clear they use is very thick and very soft.
It’s dust collecting and being wiped off. Get a coating on it. It’s the nature of black in general.
