Melvo did a fantastic set. For a young man his age, that was quite impressive. When I was mixing back in the days NYC-Paradise Garage, the DJ booth was a sacred spot. No one was to interrupt the DJ. In fact the DJ booth had security at the entrance. Only a selective few were allowed to enter. I see people screaming at Melvo, grabbing him from behind. The drunk bird with the drink. People, DJ’s do not like to be disturbed when they’re deep in the mix. Again great job Melve!!! ❤️❤️❤️ We need a Print Works in NYC.💃💃
Yes, clearly he has heard recordings of some of the sets from back then - no way he plays like this naturally... I enjoyed all of it! I think he definitely could play NYC, North Jersey, Philly and Chicago back then....

PEOPLE ,as hot as this set was - this would have been a typical Friday or Saturday night (even Sunday night) back in the day (late 70's, 80's, 90's) in NYC, Newark NJ, Philly (underground), Baltimore (B-more), Chicago...some of the records were newer (obviously), but this style of play, the tempo, etc - was normal back then. I wouldn't be surprised if Melvo had recordings of some of those clubs and Dj's from that era (They're too many to name and many are Legends now).
Great set. 56.30, the drunk bird on his left is getting a bit carried away so he tells her to keep her drink away from the equipment lol. It's nice for VIP guests to be up there but they need to let him get on with his job. He does well to concentrate when they keep grabbing his shoulder and talking in his ear when he's trying to mix. Give the man some space to do his work!
@12:16 torn when people get all the way up front while the DJ is playing. I get it, intimate feeling, fun crowd, etc. But are they there vibing, or just using it as an opportunity to get into the limelight and wail around for insta shots?
Melvo you are a brilliant DJ but you have to take all of those people that are in the box, to me a DJ should be heard not seen as it's about the music x great set and your mixes are brilliant 👌x ✌🎺✊ xxx
Shame about the next level melters up in the booth! It’s unwatchable! Get over yourselves, your not the entertainment. Complete wreck the buzz. Should have been fucked out. Maybe I’m old school but the booth should be hidden in the corner and people can buzz on the vibe and no one should ever be allowed in the booth. I get this is a festival but it’s gone of the reservation for attention seeking and craving to get likes and relevancy on social media! DJ +tunes +base + vibes = Buzz . This was a great set, but don't get that shit twisted, this set was what you heard every weekend in NYC, Newark, NJ, Philly underground, Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore back in the 80's, 90's...I don't even have to mention the Clubs or DJ's... I wouldn't be surprised if Melvo had a collection of recordings from back then...this wasn't a "European EDM" style of play + this was strictly old skool, Easy Coast underground club and House set...this was our "norm" back then!
