Thanks! Great instructions... i found pieces of metal mesh and chopper blade in the dishwasher today when I heard the dishwasher making a grindy-buzzing noise during the wash cycle...
Thank you for the video. For anyone that comes after me, I’ve completed this repair and here are my tips. (1) Seating the pump support arm correctly and completely is important to not having the pump sit on the floor and cause extra noise…really make sure it is in there and that there is clearance from the pump to the floor when you put the dishwasher back up right. (2) That pipe clamp that had to be removed is narrow…like 5/16” wide or so. Because the pipe fitting itself is …. and I didn’t measure but about 1-1 1/4” in diameter …. you have to find a pipe clamp for that diameter but is narrow. These pipe clamps aren’t sitting around at my local Home Depot, Lowe’s, or O’Reilly auto parts. You can find them online, but they aren’t “everywhere” as the video says. I tried a standard 1/2” and it didn’t put pressure in the right place and I had water just about everywhere. Good luck!!
I appreciate the in depth content in this vid of replacing the chopper on this particular pump/dishwasher but I'm curious what the common failure mode of the chopper is in the first place? blades breaking from FOD? corrosion? the pump in this vid had a chopper that was corroded asymmetrically on one or two of the four blades. just curious about the details so I could troubleshoot my dishwashers loud humming that suddenly started. said differently was this chopper replaced because the dishwasher was humming? if so because the bearing was bad? thanks again for the content, great video format and production quality👍
It can fail due to usage, food or something can get caught in there and cause the chopper to stop working. Are you getting water coming into the machine? When does it start to hum?
Thank you, the clamp part number is W10789434. You can place the order through the website, or you can call us at 1-877-477-7278 to place the order over the phone.
