@Mizco Thats great! I'm considering jumping into your course but want to know if / when you will roll out any updated that include the the latest Config updates? Once purchashed how will updates be rolled out?
@@kimnellans The next update to this course will be an entire 2.0 version. Only because they've changed the entire UI. To re-film everything is going to take a little longer but it's definitely on my roadmap.
@@robertjones4907 Hey Robert, you will maintain access to the Figma Course v.1 but I'll also make sure all existing students receive a great deal when 2.0 and other major updates happen.
Panel resizing should have been there straight from the start. Seriously, I've been scaling UI elements since forever in almost all applications I'm using and Figma finally got around to it in 2024! It's like a car manufacturer introducing the airbag 😂
😂 was not ready for the "let me know what you had for breakfast." I had a high protein meal from WholeFoods before leaving from SF back to LA. Excellent video, will be sharing it on LinkedIn!
Love how you covered this, thanks for saving me an hour! Definitely hear you on Adobe messing up their roadmap, maybe better for the future of the product (it'll feel more integrated). P.S. Had some eggs and toast with a killer homemade latte!
The CEO did mention that you eventually will be able to have your prompt generated designs use components from your own design system. He didn't give a timeline but it sounds like it's already in the works. Super cool but possibly the kiss of death for large design teams?
I'm just tired of AI everywhere. I've been using it, and it's not what people think... It's barely useful while I design and I'm not even talking about how it is "trained"😮💨
It's amazing and saves time. ANd if you dont like it you can simply not use it, it hasnt replaced any tools... you seem like a 'in my day' whiner type 😂
It largely depends on how you use it. But yeah, I think we're all tired of companies and clueless people overhyping it and telling us professionals how we're going to be replaced by AI. It's not even new tech - voice assistants? video game NPCs? Even when AI will be able to somewhat replace a junior, it's gonna take years for people to integrate AI into their company and actually start replacing people. Not to mention it's usually people with very replaceable jobs telling us (designers/coders) we're going to get replaced soon lmao. AI/ML is already a very good productivity tool and will only get better. Rephrasing text, layer renaming, analyzing spreadsheets/files, etc.. Of course it's not as good as "mediocre people" (mediocre in design, development, copywriting, etc.) think it is, but that's how all things start. Large scale adoption is required for technologies to seriously evolve. AI/ML should be seen as a supplement, not a replacement to a healthy diet.
Despite all the bells and whistles my impression is that developers don't even bother with Devmode. The "meh" reaction is more common than not. Sad but true. After I returned to Zeplin the handover process is smoother. It's more connected to markup in a rapid manner.
dude why do you think that's how it is? am facing the same problem at work. its stupid. people don't use dev mode which basically gives out exactly what they need for their flebox but they sitting and eye-balling shit with the designs. every single time. So pissing off.
I have been waiting for the slides feature since forever. Hopefully in the future we could see some sort of interplay with powerpoint like generating PPTX.
I'm just curious to see how original or creative this A.I. could be. lol, We should always remember that human minds come before matters. The reason I am not over excited with new tech (tool) in general.
.the ai is all just gimmick. Framer tried to make Ai templates too, for websites. its barely usable in real context. It's the same with this. Even the make prototype function. Majority of the times people don't layer stuff well and the feature is not gonna work that well. IMO Removing background, renaming layers and slides are the hot releases . The pure AI ones are just there coz of/for investors' money.
Nothing! Doing 16-hour fasting these days! Can recommend if you're able to skip breakfast! Anyway, thanks for the nice overview Mizko! Your videos are always appreciated.
It is so strange because just yesterday I was day dreaming that if you lined up your frames correctly you should be able to just make a prototype then VOILA! 😂
great review- I agree. I like the new features but I was more excited last year. Why have they not addressed issues in Dev mode? For example I have to unclip every prototype for my developer to be able to click into each component to view the code!? Ridiculous.
@@shawnrobertson9618 Ohhhh wow, that's interesting. I never thought of having granola with milk... I have it with greek yoghurt. I need to try it next week
Designers who are worried they will be replaced are probably dribble designers... No hate for them but when you are a "Product Designer" designing screens is.... well not your first job. There is so much more involved. User research, market analysis, business goals, legal aspects - regulations, and when you work on a real product, the information architecture. All of this has to be finalized before the first rectangle is drawn. I mean people don't realize how technical this role is. Simple example: As AI models broke through it became pretty clear there is a vast difference between natural human speech and what AI generates. The same will be the case here. Professionals and experienced designers in the field know the intricacies involved in the process. A great helping tool to visualize and wireframe but when it comes to actual design human designers will lead the way
Bro, do you think it can't replaced tell me when AI can do lots of things that you need to do in lots of time now AI can do in less time what do you think it is a new opportunity or time to find another job?
Figma Slides could potentially compete with Microsoft PPT if they allow edibility to "viewers" so that designers (owners) can share decks with marketing and marketing can still go in and tweak. text and things afterward. This is the big barrier that will cause businesses to not want to invest in Figma Slides. Marketing doesn't want slides they can't edit themselves, it's a pain point that can be somewhat alleviated if Figma slides has a different pay wall than normal Figma.
I specifically mentioned the make design using custom/existing design system, and the Figma VP of engineering replied "very high on our priorities". So... its coming. It's an obvious feature. - No breakfast yet :/
It seems like Figma is trying to eliminate jobs and help corporation over the community, I'm curious about your take in weather it's time to get out of this industry?
