GREAT quality for 2004, and such an UNDERRATED GREAT game from 2004 between TWO EVENTUAL HoF qb players. it's just a SHAME that they NEVER faced off in the SUPER BOWL
You are my favorite person. All these classic Steelers games. I remember this like the back of my hand. So many times I'd record the Steelers from the 90s through 2000s and tape over it, thinking I wouldn't watch it again and then years later wishing I had each and every game.
They were lucky to even reach the AFC Championship game that season, they should have lost to the NY Jets the week prior. And no rookie QB ever made a SB. This season set the foundation for the next few years of success!
Maybe the only game in NFL history were opposing rookie quarterbacks drilled their own left tackle in the back of the head with a pass, Elias needs to check on that.
They hardly play each other more than once every four years. But as a Steelers fan I can honestly say I was a Giants fan for the two times they beat the Pats in the Superbowl. :)
@jnyfumare I think Ben's worst season was 8-8. Eli was a total LOSER from 2012 to 2019. That stated: the Patriots losing one of those SBs is understandable, but 2 is just PUTRID, even though NFL Parity affects all teams and it's inescapable.
As steelers fan I always loved faceoff giants. Giants are awesome team I hope they make a great comeback and put dallas in last place. You giants rock from the heart of steelers fan myself❤🏈🤲🙌🙂
Got to say, I've always had a soft spot for the Giants. Plus the Giants REALLY endeared themselves to me when you all beat the Patriots twice in the big game, and when they had a perfect record, no less. Eli was a great playoff QB. The higher the stakes, the better he played. HOF'er in my book.
@@joeruiz4010 , I was a die hard Steelers fan before you were born. There's nothing wrong with respecting a team. I can assure you that I root for the Steelers over any other team, but I respect the Giants for TWICE beating the Patriots and Brady in Suoerbowls. For that, I have a soft spot for them.
@davidgraham2673 Don't give 'em (Giants) a "soft spot". You sounded more like a Flip-Flopping Jets Fan dude. 😂😂😂. The Steelers will win a Championship or 2 before NE gets anywhere near the ability to sniff a Superbowl for the next 20 years. No need to fear their garbage anymore. The Giants have become a mediocre Dumpster Fire like the Jets too. You just scared me a bit. 😂😂😂. I meant no foul to you.
As a Giants fan, this is one of the great losses I loved watching. Week 17 2007 Vs Patriots being the other. This was 5-8 NYG vs 12-1 Pitt? ROOKIE Eli; vs The 2004 Steelers #1 defense? With Eli getting 7.9 Yards Per Attempt? I was like, here we go, greatness is around the corner! 3 entire seasons of Eli mediocrity followed; including 20 INT 6.3 Yards Per attempt 2007 reg season, all the way until Week 17 of 2007 the 38-35 thriller vs Patriots.
Back in 2004 there were no smart phones, no apps, no Stub Hub, no Vivid Tickets etc…..all ticket access was either by calling or going to the box office….how prehistoric
What are you talking about there were most definitely StubHub type reselling sites in 2004 - I don’t think I’ve ever bought a ticket directly from a team
Consider: 2007 Eli Manning: 6.3 Yards Per Attempt, 20 INTs, straight up BAD. Jameis Winston 8.1 Yards PER ATTEMPT Brady same scheme 2020 is 7.8 YPA. He gets all this shit..because of leading the league in 30 INTs, Jameis career is 7.7 YPA; Brady's is 7.5, Brees is 7.6. I'm dying to see Jameis in a Sean Payton offense; actually, anywhere at all, 7.7 YPA is exciting shit; AND it was through 3 different schemes in Tampa. Dude never had Eli's continuity same Gilbride scheme for 8 seasons.
Touchdowns/Field Goal:
0:25 NYG: Ponder 91-yd kick ret
11:15 PIT: Haynes 10-yd rec from Randle El
15:30 NYG: Shockey 2-yd rec from Manning
35:20 PIT: Randle El 35-yd rec from Roethlisberger
1:05:50 NYG: Rivers 1-yd rec from Manning
1:11:40 PIT: Reed 28-yd FG
1:15:35 NYG: Barber 1-yd rush
1:20:45 PIT: Bettis GW 1-yd rush
Key Stats:
PIT:
Ben Roethlisberger 18/28 pass, 316 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT
Antwaan Randle El 5 rec, 149 rec yds, 1 TD, 1/1 pass, 10 pass yds, 1 TD
Jerome Bettis 36 car, 140 yds, 1 TD
Hines Ward 9 rec (14 targets), 134 yds
Larry Foote 11 tackles
NYG:
Tiki Barber 18 car, 76 rush yds, 1 TD, 5 rec, 38 rec yds
Nick Greisen 1 sack, 15 tackles
Osi Umenyiora 1 sack, 13 tackles
Carlos Emmons 11 tackles
Thank you!
GREAT quality for 2004, and such an UNDERRATED GREAT game from 2004 between TWO EVENTUAL HoF qb players. it's just a SHAME that they NEVER faced off in the SUPER BOWL
And a couple others. Alan Faneca, Jerome Bettis went to the hall. So will Hines Ward and Tiki Barber eventually.
You can thank the cheatriots for that!
This was a great game. I remember as a kid in grade school, use to love the late december saturday afternoon games
As a old school unbiased Steelers fan, Big Ben vs Eli was one of my favorite matchups of all-time. Both are in my opinion first ballot HOF.
I feel there's players to win major awards, many pro bowls and all pros and aren't in
Eli may get in but not first ballot
@@troylee4196but did those players win at least 1 SB?
Wow thanks for the HQ version of this
Greatest rookie QB matchup of all time.

This is your best quality for a 2004 game yet. Thanks for posting the Classic Games version.
This game was played on 12-18-04. I'm not sure why the broadcast listed 12-22-04 as the date.
2004 NFL season was great for the Steelers, 15-1, it ending with a nightmare loss to the Patriots
That's what happens when you play a cheating team
They were lucky to even reach the AFC Championship game that season, they should have lost to the NY Jets the week prior. And no rookie QB ever made a SB. This season set the foundation for the next few years of success!
I was looking forever for this game.
Great run blocking all day by the Steelers.
Defense was not on point that game, but that's Eli at times. The guy was fearless.
Duce Staley stayed on the sidelines in gray sweats 😆
The battle of the 2004 quarterback draft class
Troy haters better relish that opening play, you don’t see that often
Do you have their 1994 and 2000 meetings?
Eli Manning's 1st good solid game.
No Way man. Thanks dude
Please tell me this was going to be like Patriots at Giants 2007 game
You got Titans vs Rams HD SuperBowl 1999?
Maybe the only game in NFL history were opposing rookie quarterbacks drilled their own left tackle in the back of the head with a pass, Elias needs to check on that.
Can you please post Saints Redskins 2017?
Steelers love beating the Giants
They hardly play each other more than once every four years. But as a Steelers fan I can honestly say I was a Giants fan for the two times they beat the Pats in the Superbowl. :)
@@wraith1117 AGREED!!!
@jnyfumare Ben is better than Eli though. Don't let anyone say not👍👍. Ben never had a losing season and had a better overall career.
@@joeruiz4010 Ben much much better than Eli no doubt about it.. but Ben did have 6 wins seasons..

The Mara Bowl ..
#87 for the giants is a real life McCringleberry😆😁😆😁😆
No, that wasn't pass interference on Willie. That was two men going for the ball and one man getting it.
It’s a shame one of these teams had to lose this game! Let’s go Giants!

They will clash tonight!
Eli was 1-6 Vs Ben and Rivers
What was Rivers' record in the super bowl? Oh wait...
@@paulkelly8232Rivers owns Eli. That's the point. Drew Brees and Russell Wilson own Peyton Manning too, for that matter.
Putting trophies in the case is what counts.
@paulkelly8232 Totality of career matters most, and Championships are the biggest factor. That said, Ben > Eli, IMHO.
@@joeruiz4010 Fair enough, but Ben wouldn't have survived the rape allegations in NYC.
Its doesnt even look like 2004... Thats crazy man😳😳😳
I mean some people had it, hell for some reason my grandparents had HD by 2004 even though my family didn’t
2004 was "advancing" already.
