I think a good tip is always ask for different sizes. You might be set on one size but then you realize you prefer a smaller or bigger size but it's already too late since you bought it. I was so set on the maxi classic flap because I'm 5'8 and tall, so I thought it would be good for me. Tried it on, and I was so sure, and also a little dazed because it's a Chanel store so you don't really think rationally, you're just giddy to get the bag you want. I didn't even ask for the jumbo. So now I've had my maxi for 6 months, and I carried my friend's jumbo and I realized the jumbo was much better size, in terms of the bag itself, and the chain length. The maxi has a short chain, but a really big bag. So it's such an awkward bag. No matter how many times you set yourself to a bag, especially in size, always try the other options in store because your body type is always different from the photos and videos you see while researching for the bag you want.

I live in the US. My local Chanel store keeps a detailed waiting list. The SAs are all so nice and helpful, I have never had to wait for help in the store and my personal SA has called me quicker than expected on my waitlist requests so far. This Chanel is inside Nordstrom, so I get a lot of Nordy Notes and points as well, when I buy a Chanel bag there.
My SA from Neiman’s in NC said be on the lookout for a Chanel price increase this month. Just received the turquoise blue Classic double-flap...beautiful and before the price increase! Great video!

Totally agree about the double flap! I bought a pre loved jumbo single flap years ago before I knew the difference and i so wish I got the double flap for the exact reason you mentioned, the top of the bag has lost that nice rounded shape :( The only way I can get it is when the bag is quite full but then it becomes uncomfortable to carry with so much weight on the chain strap. Double flap all the way!
Thoughtful video. I take exception to your comment that single flaps are not considered classic flaps. They are both considered classic flaps. Chanel stopped making the single flaps in 2010. But they are still considered classic flaps, and many actually prefer the single flap over the double flap.
Yes, in the US they will add you to a wait list. I am currently on a wait list for a mini rectangular. The sales associate told me he would work on getting one for me, but it could take from a couple of week to months. Those hard to get bags are basically sold behind the scenes, you will not see them on the floor. Sadly.
I bought a mini flap and the following week tried to buy the Med/large classic double flap and was declined by Chanel. Apparently there is a strict rule that you can’t purchase two classics in the same month. So my point is, Chanel considers the mini flap as a classic.
I am so obsessed w the chanel flap bags 😍 they are so beautiful. I own sooooo many similar looking bags from various more affordable brands who were obviously inspired by the chanel classic flap (bebe, guess ,etc. ) but the Chanel is like the queen of those types of bags. Thanks for the tips Amie!! I recently became obsessed with Chanel and have been very blessed to be able to obtain a very good amount this year. I do regret getting so many in such a short span of time. For one, I did NOT know about the possibility of "bad batches" of leather. When I went in to get my medium classic flap in caviar leather, I noticed the bag creasing before using. I went back to the boutique to exchange it only to find that the other bags brought out were not much better. I decided to keep it and went to a different Chanel boutique to try my luck only to be shocked that it was even worse... The leather of my medium is surprisingly A LOT softer than my jumbo (both in caviar).

Hello lovely! I have found them to be super nice - I shop at the one here in Dallas, and everyone has been amazing! I have not found that to be the case at LV or Gucci however - they always seem to be snobby here! ;) My SA is very helpful and educated me on the history of the pieces and always works with me to find the perfect ones for my collection and my style. You can ask to try on the different sizes - which I highly recommend! Many times they look different when you try them on than you expected! You can pay with a card or cash - I have done both and here in Dallas the counters are out in the open. They will wrap the bag up in front of you with all the pretty packaging! Don't be intimated - just walk in like you belong there! :) And if you don't click with your SA, find another one! A good one will never make you feel silly for asking questions and they will give you their honest opinion. Mine knows I have a very specific style and she always helps me find the pieces that fit in perfectly - not just trying to sell me something, simply for the sake of selling. Good luck!!! Great advice already! In the very busy stores, you now sometimes get added to an ipad waitlist until there's a SA ready to see you. That can take 10-20 minutes. In the quieter stores, you can just ask someone if they look free. They should let you see any bags you want and try them on as well. If you ask, most will let you take photos too :) In the Chanels I've been to, you get escorted to a sit down desk area to pay. They take the bag out of sight to package up and then someone else deals with your payment. Once you're done, your SA will come out with your packaged up bag. They definitely make buying an experience in store! :)
They are all nice! You just need to be patient because my store is always busy. Look around at the display cases while you wait but when an SA comes to assist you, tell them what you're looking for (example Boy Bag, deciding between small or medium and if you have a preference to caviar, lamb, or calf skin). They have goodies in the drawers and back closets that they can show you. You can try all of them on and inspect the bag before buying it

I was very lucky each time I went duty free shopping in T3 or T5, they had the minis in stock either in square or rectangular. Plus it probably helped the new collection was delivered on the day we was flying out. For me, I’d called Heathrow around 4-5ish just because the delivery would be delivered by 1ish then it would be unboxed during the off peak times between 2-4ish. Btw new cruise collection should be in the shop by Tuesday or Wednesday next week how exciting!!! I was travelling the same time last year when I’d turned down mini square for something else darn it I wish I’d should of just bought both bags 😅😅😅

yes. i grew up admiring these bags from afar. i was a little girl, like 9 years old! and then i grew up, advanced in my career and started pulling in some real money. and i did purchase things, but i could never bring myself to drop more than $2500 on a bag. i can afford to buy more but money is something i don't let run through my fingers anymore. i have children, and my husband and i would like to retire well off, without worry on rainy days. but whatever makes you happy. comfort and joy to all!

Great presentation! The first Chanel you have bought and has been very durable might be made with goat skin, not lamb skin. Goat skin has that kind of shine, thicker and much more durable than lamb skin. I have a goat skin vintage Chanel bag, it is much more durable and water resistant.
Curious... Aside from lambskin and caviar, Chanel classic flaps has patent leather as well... but how come the patent leather is not as popular as lambskin and caviar?
I have heard from a friend with one that they "squeak" / make a noise when opening and closing. Although, I ordered a pre-loved one and didn't find it to be too annoying, but because it wasn't in pristine condition, I ended up sending it back. I'm not sure I even remember the exact numbers but I have a whole video on investments bags (called 'Bags that don't hold their value' ) that gives some insight about how to tell which will hold their value. There are pretty standard rules, i.e. the classic designs from the very luxury brands that increase their prices a lot! HTH :)

She has a video comparing the WOC and mini. She ended up getting rid of her WOC. I think it depends on how much you carry or set up the inside of your bag. I personally like the WOC better. Mini square seems bigger but I think space runs out quicker because you need a wallet or wallets depending on how you carry your cards. I ended up returning my mini square even though I think it's a beautiful bag. check out her comparison videos though, very informative.
It depends on the specific color, leather type, and hardware -- some WOC combinations are very highly sought after and can sell for more than the original price, such as the black quilted caviar leather with gold hardware. Unclear if the Trendy CC WOC will hold its value better than the quilted leather WOC bc there's not as many of them so it's hard to evaluate the online resale price. Personally I like the rectangular mini over the square b/c of the longer chain that can go cross-body and over the WOC b/c there's slightly more space. The WOC is useful as a clutch and for travel.
Would you be able to do a video on how you pack your heels and other shoes for travel? I normally keep mine in their boxes when i travel by car, but I'm having to fly with a nice pair of heels this winter and I'm not sure how to pack them without packing the box (and talking up a good chunk of my carry on) they are silk with a detail on the toe and I don't want to risk snagging the material or doing something to cause the decoration to fall off. I have a dust bag for them but I don't know if that will be sufficient to protect them.
I use a dustbag for each shoe (important if they have embellishment!) and then wrap other clothing around them! This basically pads them out and helps protect the heel :)

I got a really nice lambskin vintage bag that is 25 years old and it is still in really good condition. I think the owner used it occasionally which is what I am going to do too. Its my first Chanel and I have no idea when I will get another one lol. Its on my Chanel

What’s it like going into the store? I’ve always been too intimidated to go in lol. Are you allowed to see and try on the actual bag you’re interested in buying? And how does paying work? Seems like all the counters are hidden! (Sorry, so many questions!!!).

Hello lovely! I have found them to be super nice - I shop at the one here in Dallas, and everyone has been amazing!
I have not found that to be the case at LV or Gucci however - they always seem to be snobby here! ;)
My SA is very helpful and educated me on the history of the pieces and always works with me to find the perfect ones for my collection and my style. You can ask to try on the different sizes - which I highly recommend! Many times they look different when you try them on than you expected!
You can pay with a card or cash - I have done both and here in Dallas the counters are out in the open. They will wrap the bag up in front of you with all the pretty packaging!
Don't be intimated - just walk in like you belong there! :) And if you don't click with your SA, find another one! A good one will never make you feel silly for asking questions and they will give you their honest opinion. Mine knows I have a very specific style and she always helps me find the pieces that fit in perfectly - not just trying to sell me something, simply for the sake of selling.

Great advice already! In the very busy stores, you now sometimes get added to an ipad waitlist until there's a SA ready to see you. That can take 10-20 minutes. In the quieter stores, you can just ask someone if they look free. They should let you see any bags you want and try them on as well. If you ask, most will let you take photos too :) In the Chanels I've been to, you get escorted to a sit down desk area to pay. They take the bag out of sight to package up and then someone else deals with your payment. Once you're done, your SA will come out with your packaged up bag. They definitely make buying an experience in store! :)
They are all nice! You just need to be patient because my store is always busy. Look around at the display cases while you wait but when an SA comes to assist you, tell them what you're looking for (example Boy Bag, deciding between small or medium and if you have a preference to caviar, lamb, or calf skin). They have goodies in the drawers and back closets that they can show you. You can try all of them on and inspect the bag before buying it

Great tip. There is a waiting list for Chanel from Harrod as well as Selfridge. I’ve been on waiting list for black chanel mini few months ago and Selfridge phone me a week after to collect it. Also I’m on waiting list for the burgundy mini that coming next next from Harrod. Have a great weekend

I was very lucky each time I went duty free shopping in T3 or T5, they had the minis in stock either in square or rectangular. Plus it probably helped the new collection was delivered on the day we was flying out. For me, I’d called Heathrow around 4-5ish just because the delivery would be delivered by 1ish then it would be unboxed during the off peak times between 2-4ish. Btw new cruise collection should be in the shop by Tuesday or Wednesday next week how exciting!!! I was travelling the same time last year when I’d turned down mini square for something else darn it I wish I’d should of just bought both bags 😅😅😅

I think I started watching these videos, general handbag videos, liking and admiring the bags, but the more I watch the more I wonder what kool-aid I was drinking. yes. i grew up admiring these bags from afar. i was a little girl, like 9 years old! and then i grew up, advanced in my career and started pulling in some real money. and i did purchase things, but i could never bring myself to drop more than $2500 on a bag. i can afford to buy more but money is something i don't let run through my fingers anymore. i have children, and my husband and i would like to retire well off, without worry on rainy days. but whatever makes you happy. comfort and joy to all!

Great presentation! The first Chanel you have bought and has been very durable might be made with goat skin, not lamb skin. Goat skin has that kind of shine, thicker and much more durable than lamb skin. I have a goat skin vintage Chanel bag, it is much more durable and water resistant.

Curious... Aside from lambskin and caviar, Chanel classic flaps has patent leather as well... but how come the patent leather is not as popular as lambskin and caviar?
I have heard from a friend with one that they "squeak" / make a noise when opening and closing. Although, I ordered a pre-loved one and didn't find it to be too annoying, but because it wasn't in pristine condition, I ended up sending it back. My SA has also said they are bad for color transfers - once something gets on it, it is pretty much on it and you can't get it off.

Do you happen to know any trusted online shops? Coz it's really difficult to get it here in Dubai brand new😔 The SA I am dealing with is helpful but the bags would usually come in lambskin or caviar but in chevron. I'm not sure I even remember the exact numbers but I have a whole video on investments bags (called 'Bags that don't hold their value' ) that gives some insight about how to tell which will hold their value. There are pretty standard rules, i.e. the classic designs from the very luxury brands that increase their prices a lot! HTH :)

She has a video comparing the WOC and mini. She ended up getting rid of her WOC. I think it depends on how much you carry or set up the inside of your bag. I personally like the WOC better. Mini square seems bigger but I think space runs out quicker because you need a wallet or wallets depending on how you carry your cards. I ended up returning my mini square even though I think it's a beautiful bag. check out her comparison videos though, very informative.
It depends on the specific color, leather type, and hardware -- some WOC combinations are very highly sought after and can sell for more than the original price, such as the black quilted caviar leather with gold hardware. Unclear if the Trendy CC WOC will hold its value better than the quilted leather WOC bc there's not as many of them so it's hard to evaluate the online resale price. Personally I like the rectangular mini over the square b/c of the longer chain that can go cross-body and over the WOC b/c there's slightly more space. The WOC is useful as a clutch and for travel.

Would you be able to do a video on how you pack your heels and other shoes for travel? I normally keep mine in their boxes when i travel by car, but I'm having to fly with a nice pair of heels this winter and I'm not sure how to pack them without packing the box (and talking up a good chunk of my carry on) they are silk with a detail on the toe and I don't want to risk snagging the material or doing something to cause the decoration to fall off. I have a dust bag for them but I don't know if that will be sufficient to protect them.
I use a dustbag for each shoe (important if they have embellishment!) and then wrap other clothing around them! This basically pads them out and helps protect the heel :)
