Thanks for the review. I’ll try it out. Never used one, but use my iPad almost daily when sketching. I love your studio, some beautiful stuff on the walls!!!
Plastic is better than wood…? Haha I also strongly disagree. Those little legs are gonna snap in half so fast. I agree, sketchslate is the best built and looking and the same cost as this lol
sketchslate studio sucks. there not even space to use the sleep wake button on the ipad without taking it out. plus it’s hard to get the pencil out too. ergonomically it’s inferior in every single way. just because it’s made of wood doesn’t make it a better product. it could be made of diamonds and it will still suck
Received mine and just realized that no one thought about making speaker cutouts while designing this thing, and as I see other similar products suffer from the same problem. Also because of how middle leg sockets are not in the middle, when you flip the whole thing upside down there is an additional angle of 38° which is kinda nice, not sure if that was planned
@@BeeJayDeL I didn’t notice I had. I guess it is official….I am now old enough to tell corny mom jokes without consciously trying. LOL. Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks for the review. I have the 1st version so I am thinking on purchasing the 2nd version because the 1st version is AMAZING for my wrists and arm gestures as I draw. The size is a little big which was never a problem for me but if I’m on the plane it could help to decrease someone else’s discomfort on the sides which your video demonstrates the shaved off space. I think I want to wait until the 13’’ space is available as I will upgrade my iPad here soon. Thanks for the video. REally helpful!!
I never had a board so was in the market for one of these because i just got a new ipad so i had pre ordered it weeks ago, after seeing this vid i'm glad i went with the newer model.
Just used your code to get the new one since I don’t have one. I like drawing on my iPad but would love to have that extra drawing space. Thanks for sharing
Oh fantastic, this was the first kickstarter project I ever bought from and love it, only issue I had is I’m in the uk so the cost of replacing the iPad inserts became crazy high once shipping was added. I know there is a uk store now but the prices are much higher and it has a smaller selection of inserts, the US store offers multiple inserts for iPad Pro 12.9 eg gen1-2, gen 3-4 and gen 5-6, the uk offers gen 1 and iPad Pro 12.9 when I emailed for advise they couldn’t confirm it would fit my model :/ Also bummed that I live in the uk because I wanted the pencil grip from when you first announced it and it’s on the us Amazon store not uk
I seen that the sketchboard pro 2 has a floor or desk mount option and says that the “vesa support requires additional adapter sold separately (coming soon)” will you be doing a review of this? If so cant wait! Great review btw
I don't begrudge anyone who purchases one, To those who have it I do hope you're enjoying it.but in my opinion it is not for everyone, try it out immediately so if you do not like it you can return it. I waited too long to take it out to try it, it can be awkward to draw on and could be better adjustment mechanics.
Ohhh so awesome they sent you one early so we can see your review 👀 just ordered mine! I love v1 - it's a total game changer. BUT... it's so big and heavy it's actually a bit of a deterrent to pull it out. Just can't find a storage solution that leaves it in reach of my desk. The biggest factor is the promised vesa mount kit though. If I can mount on an arm I'll be in heaven.
Glad you found it helpful! They already contacted me and said I’ll get my hands on the VESA kit closer to launch, so keep an eye out for that video (don’t have a timeframe…just the promise that it is coming!)
Hi. Left message on your Gekko video. Why when I add a clipping mask and start doing shadows the shadow colour also goes over the black outline of layer below?
Bee Jay, I've been trying to get info on how the Pro-Draw grip works with the new Apple Pencil Pro. I'm very eager to get a good grip like the one you designed. but worried that the double tap, squeeze gesture & haptic feedback won't work with the large Pro-Draw grip. Could you please address this issue? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for this review, BeeJay. :) Much appreciated! Gosh, I'm torn. I like that the cable is easier to plug in on the 2nd model, but I like the larger surface area of the first. (I don't have either, so I want to make sure I spend my $$ wisely). You've given me a lot to think about. Thank you!
That definitely works for drawing at an incline, but the key thing that’s missing there is you don’t get the extended flat surface for resting your hand (the main selling point like I mentioned in the video.)
@BeeJayDeL I think you mean to say that it is flush as in level. Because you can rest your hand on a portable drafting table. I will concede that at this moment, a portable drafting table is more expensive than these items.
Wondered that myself. I guess its the Nomatic/Gomatic Peter McKinnon Camera Pack ( e.g. th-cam.com/video/QozLKjbe65w/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUZcGV0ZXIgbWNraW5ub24gY2FtZXJhIGJhZw%3D%3D )
I kept seeing other artists with their iPads inserted into accessories like this and thought to myself - I need something like this to make drawing on my iPad a bit easier and comfortable. Kept meaning to look into this stuff and then I saw your video. I’m sold. PLUS it felt like it was meant from the beginning for me given my user name and the product’s name. 😂 THANK YOU for the review. I sub’d. Going to put my preorder through when I get a chance. 🙌🏼
$129 is pretty fair for a relatively “niche” product like this (especially from a small company.) I can tell you from experience that bringing a product to market is a lot more expensive than most people could even imagine.
1st layer - sturdy plastic 2nd layer - soft hardened plastic sits inside 1st layer 3d layer - metal square which is inside 2nd layer. Because of it, you can expect a not so tight fit.
Losing them….definitely a possibility. Not sure if they thought of that or will offer a solution. Definitely don’t have to worry about breaking though…made of metal and super solid (can’t come close to bending bare-handed.)
This review made me grab one, should be arriving this month. I’m surprised you’re still the only review for this on TH-cam that I can find!
Thanks for the review. I’ll try it out. Never used one, but use my iPad almost daily when sketching. I love your studio, some beautiful stuff on the walls!!!
I still love the Sketchslate studio way more, looks like they took a bunch of ideas from it. Plus it’s the same price but made from solid wood.
Being solid wood actually sounds like a drawback…and they definitely knocked off the overall concept/design from Sketchboard to begin with.

The wood does look cool but the Sketchboard Pro inserts have been a big plus for me.

So glad there is more incline options. Never purchased version 1 because of that. Now I am feeling more inclined to buy this.
Hahaha! I see what you did there 😉👍

Great, I just ordered. Sidenote, how are you the only person who has this thing so far?

Preordered one thanks to you! The code worked very well and saved me a few bucks! Thank you!
Glad I could help! Enjoy!
I have already the Sketchboard Pro 1 and your pro-draw, and it is so nice to work with both. 👍
They make a great combo!
Thanks for the code!
I love your Pro Draw grip! What will be the next product you come out with? Whatever it is, you can be sure I’m ordering it!
So great to hear! Still in the R&D stages now, so can’t say too much. Stay tuned!

The joys of international shipping! (We did offer UK shipping for a bit with pro-draw, but it just turned into a major headache.)

Yup…the people behind Sketchboard already reached out to me and I’ll get to try the VESA mount out when it’s ready….stay tuned!
Saw a review 2024 may 09. Your review has similar favorable about steadiness and leg positions.

Should I buy this as a beginner digital artist or should I just get the Astropad compact stand?

Just lean it against a wall and get over your neatnik mindset.
Hi. Left message on your Gekko video. Why when I add a clipping mask and start doing shadows the shadow colour also goes over the black outline of layer below?
Sounds like you have the line work and the color flats on the same layer- they should be separate as in the video.
Does the new iPad Pro 13" fit?
Yes…check out my newest video review of the nano texture…I show it/ cover it there!
I like the dimensions of the first one! Don’t want it to be smaller!
Stick with the first one then
A bit of a trade off for sure, but not a massive difference in use.
Thank you for the review. I would love this.

Do you know if the Sketchboard is compatible with the 12.9" iPad Pro first gen? The pencil probably isn't, but I wouldn't be concerned about that.
Can they make a sleeve fit for Samsung S9 fe+ ?
You can always put your ipad on a drafting table or a portable drafting table, if you have one.
That definitely works for drawing at an incline, but the key thing that’s missing there is you don’t get the extended flat surface for resting your hand (the main selling point like I mentioned in the video.)

I want to get one of these for my M1 12.9 but I am upgrading to the M3 next year and I am not sure if the M3 13" will fit.
Not even announced yet, so hard to say (but that’s definitely what the upgrade kits are for.)
What backpack is that?

For once I am glad I never got around to buying a sketch board for the ipad pro. I am SO getting this but I have to finish my xmas shopping first. 😤
Right on! I know buyer’s remorse can be tough when a new product gets announced, but it sounds like it worked out in your favor holding off!

Ummmmm…not sure how my comment could be construed as condescending, but ok.
It's the part about not being able to imagine. @@BeeJayDeL
Today received pro2 and it's a shit.
Cant properly hold an ipad m4. With a screen protector its above 1mm and I cant lower it.
Scam, nothing more.
$130 for a plastic board with magnets 😐
Metal on metal at the back?
1st layer - sturdy plastic
2nd layer - soft hardened plastic sits inside 1st layer
3d layer - metal square which is inside 2nd layer.
Because of it, you can expect a not so tight fit.
not much of a upgrade..
Inches ! ! !! ahhhhhh stone age!
Or American
I didn't know that it existed, I thought I'd make one with cardboard.
I wonder how much money they expect to make, selling replacement legs.

It's aud $2-300..
ARE YOU KIDDING LOL? 😂😂😂🤡
Way too much for something that should cost $25.00
$25? Hahaha! You wildly underestimate the costs of production in 2023!
Not a single moment I regretted the purchase of the original one. Makes drawing so much more natural!
