We realize not everyone is looking to 'invest' in Costa Rica or start a business in Costa Rica BUT if you are, La Fortuna is the place to consider. La Fortuna is a top destination for tourists. Almost everyone stops by La Fortuna for at least 2 nights, more likely 3, to enjoy all the adventures and beauty that are found in La Fortuna and the surrounding area. And it's starting. More business are popping up, land for sale, folks building and the prices, although they can be expensive depending, there's still so much land, businesses and houses reasonably price. The truth is, many locals can own a lot of land here but due to the corona, they are in need of cash.
Foreigners do not need residency to own property in Costa Rica.
Property Ownership: Foreigners have the same property rights as Costa Rican citizens. They can own titled land, condominiums, and houses outright, without the need for local partners or legal complications.
Legal Requirements: It is essential to hire a reputable attorney who specializes in real estate transactions to guide you through the purchasing process. They will ensure that all legal requirements are met, titles are clear, and contracts are properly drafted.
Property Taxes and Fees: As a property owner, you will be responsible for annual property taxes, which are relatively low compared to other countries. Additionally, there will be closing costs, legal fees, and transfer taxes associated with the purchase.
*Remember 'BUYER BEWARE'. Make sure you have a competent real estate agent and lawyer who have done the due diligence on ANY property, business, house etc you are interested in. And please check out our other playlists and videos to make sure Costa Rica is right for you or not. Before moving and making a life in Costa Rica, you should have already spent at at least 6 months to a year living in Costa Rica and actually, I would advise at least 2 years... but I understand everybody's situation is different and you have to do what's best for you and your family. Just please, don't buy anything in Costa Rica until you are absolutely sure you want to make a life in Costa Rica. Renting before buying can save you thousands.
