I have the original T5 Koa premium that I acquired shortly after the T5 was first introduced. It is a beautiful instrument. As a hybrid, I much prefer it to the Fender Acoustisonic; it is a 'real' instrument vs a computer model in a guitar frame. I was impressed/sold on the instrument by Mark Seal's performance at the Taylor Road show introduction at the down town Alamo Music Center store. However, I can't say I have bonded with it as I have my acoustic Taylors or Fender Strats and JM. The reason why is that it is an OK acoustic, but true Taylor acoustics are better. It is an OK electric, but Fender Electrics Strats/Gibson LP or ES are better (plus it doesn't have the advantage of the electric bridge system/ligher strings that a Strat/JM or Gibson LP can run). So it is good instrument and has a niche for someone who wants/needs to have a single instrument to cover all the bases. But it can't completely replace a true acoustic or a true electric, IMO. YMMV.
I think most people with common sense pretty much got that figured out. I mean I totally realize the hybrids never going to achieve the sound of the absolute acoustic or electric. That's like saying the car that can go in the lake for a little Drive, is nothing like a car on the road or a full-blown boat
ALAMOOOOO! Guys I have this guitar and need to get back into looping and gigging. I normally use a Martin JR (Ed Sheeran but not ed Sheeran edition lol) because of its great percussions, but need a new effects pedal. I used a GT100 with it and was wondering would a GT1 suffice for the acoustic usage and electric? I may add another Martin JR to pair with my T5z for fuller acoustic settings or a Breedlove but I need to make the most out of my T5z.
The Custom has a gloss finish, binding and gold hardware. It might have a higher grade top, but I’m not sure about that. Everything else should be exactly the same.
They need to get rid of the huge plastic thing on the back. Make it out of wood or something. Every time I see that I think why haven't they changed that yet. Really cool guitar with a huge piece of early 80s style plastic on the back. Great video and cool instrument.
I’ve been looking at these for a while and I value your opinions. I mean, y’all helped me decide on my Big Baby Taylor, so I know you’ll be helpful. I mainly play acoustic at our church. Would this be better suited in an electric type setting for praise and worship or would it meet the need as a slightly more unique sounding acoustic electric? Thanks for your help.
So I'm assuming one of the biggest things is the strings are a lot easier to press and play, because it's based on the electric? I suffer with trying to learn my freaking acoustic because I can't play it for more than 10 minutes without my fingertips getting shredded
8:19 for the playing
They love the sound of their own voices. Drives me nuts
Cooper! Great playing!

Agreed. Same here as well.

Those are slick!
Appreciate it!

Beautiful guitars!
Many thanks for this video, which is probably my only chance to see and listen to them...! 🤣
You are very welcome!
You guys so ROCK!!! What a cool guitar. And Cooper can really play.
Thanks! Coop really is a WIZ!
Cooper is a beast and could make a $79 guitar sound like it came from a boutique..
True true
Hey thank you!
I was just sitting here in awe of how great he plays. Your comment is still spot on. Even 2 years later.
Great video!
Could you make one comparing the T5z Classic Koa with the T5z Classic Rosewood?
How does it compare with the T5z custom Koa? It sells for $1,000 more? I play mine thru a Fender acoustic 200 and. Blues Junior 3. Amazing.
From what I see..the binding is the main difference

Beautiful guitar!
Great video, did you guys ever do a comparison video of the Classic series with the different tops? Or the T5z series in general?
Plug amp cord in and the LED light goes on. UNTIL YOU UNPLUG IT. Runs the battery down. Battery box cover can buzz a bit.
Otherwise love my T5z Koa!

Awesome guitar! Now if I could just play like Cooper. . .
Go for it!
Gorgeous guitars, I much prefer this to any Acoustasonic, but that's me.
Nice.
Wish I had the budget.

What amp and mic was this played through?
nice guitar!
Thanks!
Hi Chris, can this T5z be plug into AER Amps (Compact Mobile)? I know the Compact Mobile is only compatible with acoustic instruments.

Have you guys heard of a classical guitar by mano 201 any information appreciated thanks
Has anyone tried the entry level T5z Mahogany edition guitar ?
I’ll email you guys once my kidney is sold.
Awesome sauce! We'll be waiting!
I have the Koa T5z custom...what's the difference between this and that?.. anyone
Did you listen? He mentions the differences at around 6:35.
Still like the acoustics better that I've bought from you guys.
You're the best Tex! Always love your comments!
My but Mr. Greenberg does play nicely ... my, my my ...
Why did Taylor Guitars change the size of these? The T5 was bigger, and in my opinion, sounded better.
They changed the size to be closer to electric guitars..so you get acoustic sounds from something that feels like a les paul..
I wonder if that guy has a USB connection in his brain stem... I want all that talent, but it's like Burger King... My way right away 😜
those lights in the back are hard on the eyes....
I really want to get me a girlfriend who carea about me enough to buy me one...
