  • On an informative episode of Jersey Digs, Chris the Silver Sniffer dives deep into frequency in hopes to teach you a little something! Frequency is a great thing, am I right? Good thing The Legend offers 10 different frequency options. Which one should you use? M1? 4kHz? MW?? Tune in to find out. Hope you enjoy the watch.

      Hello spent 4 hours today using my new legend on the beach. When in MD mode it would excessively pop off, but in MW it calmed down. I was using it in dry sand, sensitivity 26, recovery 1. MD mode was not practical for use with those settings. Any suggestions?

      @@4High4Low Hey. So I've ran into similar situations with MD and because of that I almost always run it in MW or switch to another mode where I can access other frequencies in the dry. Wish I had a better answer for ya but that's my workaround

    Good work. I’m kind of surprised how often this machine is recommended to a beginner. Looks like it could easily overwhelm them.

      I totally agree. I came from the simplex+ and it is still taking me time to really wrap my head around it. The only time I recommend it to a beginner is when they're searching for a multi frequency machine, primarily beach hunting, for a reasonable price. Thanks for the view and happy hunting

    I read that some people with this machine use field mode in park areas and vice versa. What is the benefit or why do people prefer to use field mode on house type properties?

    • @JerseyDigs

      Haven't heard that one! I run field in areas with little trash, park otherwise. The only difference I've noted is a slight VDI differential in the low numbers. Maybe they do so when the area is less saturated with signals?

    Not sure if you’ll see this since the video is so old. One thing I cannot find an explanation for- does the “frequency shift” function which can automatically try to work around EMI, does it actually slightly tweak those selected frequencies? I’m not sure what it’s changing when it’s selecting a more stable number.

      @@brianwolf9647 hey Brian, little late on the reply here! I believe it does slightly change the frequency in order to eliminate emi. Wish I had a more detailed answer for you but from what I gather that's what's happening. - Chris

  • @digginggopher

    Good video, this was my understanding too from what I've read around the last year
    What I don't get is what does changing the channel do when you noise cancle, on the simplex plus it was called frequency and you had three choices on the simplex plus, and on the legend there is 12 or something
    Do they slightly offset the frequency, like on the deus?? It always confused me

    • @JerseyDigs

      I'm not exactly sure. So as far as I'm aware, changing the channel will help eliminate EMI. I use it when we both hunt together so we don't interfere with each other's detectors. I dont do much in the way of noise cancelling.

      Hi, so I managed to translate your comment. M3 will definitely be able to find gold.

  • @TSiriusz

    Someone once said that single freq can be used on the beach for gold and such, but when I use it on the beach it tends to be very chattery. However, chattery is better than falsing if there's heavy EMI, so i'll have to try it out at those locations where there's always heavy emi but potential for good finds. I just wish the beach mode for the legend had single freq options cause on wet, the emi in certain places is just too much.

    • @digginggopher

      I've used single frequency in park on fresh water beaches, no clue what I'd do on a salt water beach but there's none near me

    • @JerseyDigs

      Yeah, single will be a hassle to use on the beach. I came from the simplex+ and always had to lower my sensitivity a ton for it to steady out since no multi. I like the way they set the beach mode, but it would have been nice to offer 1 single freq. Thanks for the view!
