When I did the Audi mod I used a step down converter for the 12v signal when the brakes are pressed and put it down to about 7.8v IIRC. If you run that signal to the blue wire you cut the triangle part will still light up when the brakes are pressed. I think it grabs attention more when you brake and still retains the OEM area that is lit up. Good work on everything else!
Do you have a video detailing this? That is the step up I would like to have for mine. I like the Audi mod but would like the triangle to light up with the brake is pressed.
@@LAAO369 I might have a really old vid somewhere of it, but not currently on YT. Basically you take the 12v from the harness in the trunk to step down the voltage so you dont over power the LEDs and run it to the blue wire that was just cut. Most people don't care enough to want to do that which is why I never posted anything.
Great video and cool mod! Pro tip with sealant: 1) mask off your line 2) wet your finger with soapy water, "scrubs in a bucket", or even spit and lightly rub over your sealant bead to get it smooth.
First step should be dechroming. Home diy can use Easy-Off Oven cleaner. THEN sand and and prep. Also, install the lower led board, aka the 'audi strip' first, then the smaller triangle. Won't have to fight getting the lower audi strip tab under the triangle tab. With the audi strip wires cut, extend the wires from the triangle so they can be hooked to a 12v to a 5v regulator (can buy them off of amazon, ebay, etc for a few $$) and hook it to the turn signal. Add a resistor as well to stop hyper flash. Now the wire positive wire that was coming from the oem turn signal, extend it and hook it to the reverse. Add in a white 1156 bulb in the old turn signal area. Bam, triangle signal and quad reverse. Another mod I did back in 2013 when some big names down south couldn't do it. Its also much easier to have the black housing sitting up right to drop the actual inside assembly into it and lock it in place. Never place your freshly painted bezel face down on anything. especially since you didn't dechrome it or prime it. The back housing doesn't need to be washed out unless you had it rolling in dirt.It is open vented and gets crap in there anyways from the trunk. Seen some nasty spiders and bugs in there many times. Simple wipe and blow it out is plenty good enough. I used to use that silicone when i started doing those tails like 7-8 years ago (starting with bk1) years ago when they came out. There is much better silicones available (Like from GE) that dry a lot quicker and ready to be installed much sooner.
@@ansleypierceorencia4816 a few have. It's not hard. But I am 1 of very few who turned the triangle into the signal. There is 1 guy who has gone a big step further and turned the entire tail into a fully programmable setup. But that's a whole other story lol
MrDaavee is there any way you could link me to the stuff I need to make the triangle a signal light? Im on IG too if you wanna talk over there. @4nsleypierc3
I have this done with tail as turn signal. I just noticed that when i brake and have my blinker on, the passenger side blinks but drivers side doesnt. As soon as i let go of the brake, it starts blinking again. I thought maybe its the tail as turn module so i swapped the passenger side to the drivers side but still it didnt work. So what could be the problem??
@@jperez967903 you can splice the blue wire back together if you ever wanted to turn back. It might be a little hard because the wire looks pretty short, but it can be done.
I'm pretty sure I've seen tutorials for this somewhere it involve using some mosfet sort of thing to connect the tail light to the blue wire there's also a tail as turn things that you can buy from I think diode Dynamics but I think it only does the whole tail light and makes it blink
so glad u made this video, gonna be doing this soon. do you know how to just take the glass off instead of cutting into the housing? when you find out can you please make a video on that

@@Weekend_Garage do you have a part number for the converter or a link

@Weekend_Garage hey u got a video yet and or a picture
I just did this and wow you made this look so much easier than what it was for me lol

MrDaavee hmm I kinda wanna do this Blackout + Audi mod & quad reverse lights. For the quad reverse lights Has anybody done it aside from you?

I’m thinking of blacking out the front headlights
Hey, on the chrome pieces cant you just soak them in super strong degreaser to remove the chrome?
Man that looks way better
Is there a way to remove the red tinting from the lens?
Yo bro i love it wanna do it so bad what exact brand did u use for paint
Love that man 👌
would rubber butyl tape work for sealing it back

You should get the BK2
would it be the same if I just use normal scissors for the wire
yo how much do you charge
do you NEED to use temperature resistant paint? or could I just use regular spray paint?
Damn that looks sick!
what glue did you use on it?
If only there was a way to get rid of the red on the plastic lens :(
If there a way to get rid of the red outer layer? I want it to be completely blacked out lmao
What kind of spray can did u use ??
Does anybody know is blacking out your tail light like this is street legal??
completely legal
That looks great man 👍
What if I just wanted to do the Audi mod only on stock bk2 taillights, all I do is just cut that blue wire ?
But does the other LED (triangles) EVER turn back on?

Price please ,do not have dm or insta.
why did you cut it open can you not put it in oven to release the lenses like you do with the front Headlights
Only on the front headlights. The taillights use a hard epoxy from what i understand
Man how can i make the the round led part my turn signal?!
