There are plenty of way worse things, like domestic abuse, different types of manipulation, and many other things that can truly harm you physically and mentally, but cheating is a selfish act, but often not meant to hurt someone, it’s just a weakness some people have, or they probably haven’t learned monogamy is not for them

And I don't understand why people think becoming polyamorous would be a solution for cheaters. Usually people don't cheat because they want to sleep with more people at the same time, they do it because they have some problem within their relationship and they don't have the courage, or the tools, to address that directly. Cheating is the symptom, not the illness. Cheating means breaking an implicit pact of mutual trust and respect. And that is something people can do in every kind of relationship, even poly ones.

i’ve been cheated on multiple times and it was actually traumatic in hindsight. i have severe trust issues, i worry about my partner constantly, the memories flash into my head at random, i can still picture everything vividly, and i breakdown whenever i think about it too much. it can be shattering for the person who was cheated on. i immediately blamed myself, thought i wasn’t good enough, felt i deserved it or could’ve done something to change things, and i lost a friendship from it. please don’t cheat on people. if you feel the need to do something with someone else, express that with your partner and if they’re not comfortable with that, break up.

I think if the cheating led to sexual activity (like you slept with somebody then slept with your partner after) then it 100% needs to be admitted to at least for health reasons, like putting aside the betrayal of trust that's also just putting the other person at risk of possible STIs. Or secondly - that’s most cheaters excuse for why they cheated …
They say to their partner you didn’t give me what I wanted or needed so you made me cheat 😂😂

@@barbarella.artist I think you’re right, the first reaction is to question why you (the person that got cheated on) is inadequate for your partner, but over time, you can realize that the other person has faults. If you got broken up with, you’d also question why you weren’t good enough. Learning that you’ve been cheated on still makes you question why you weren’t good enough, but gives you a reason to doubt the judgement of your partner. In the long run, knowing you’ve been cheated on is probably better than being confused why your relationship ended

If you’ve been with someone for a long time, you tend to be so attached that it’s not worth giving up on the relationship even for something so major. When couples communicate and overcome their issues, they often emerge even stronger. Cheating shouldn’t be what it takes to make a relationship stronger though

As a senior girl who goes to a "party school", there has never been one single moment where I considered cheating on my partner. You can go out without them, you can dress scandalously, you can have the full experience WITHOUT breaking the commitment that you made to them. There have been plenty of times that I've gotten a feeling that made me icky, and decided "nope, need to leave the situation because they're getting the wrong idea". You have full autonomy over your choices. Yes, this is 100% how people should be, talk to a person and tell them what you want and how you see things, sadly there are still people who think touching a pp automatically puts them in a monogamous relationship😞

"Sparing their feelings" by not confessing is most often mainly about sparing their own feelings & not having to go through seeing the damage they caused to unfold. Avoiding the guilt, the shame, the consequences, the tainted public image, all that.
Let's not pretend it's some selfless, "caring" act just because it delays the pain.
The truth comes out sooner or later anyways.
And keeping it a secret robs your partner of the ability to make an informed decision about their future. What kind of partner they have. Risking their health (STD-risk!). Wasting their time. Creating even bigger trust issues - just imagine them finding out one day & looking back on all the years they didn't have a clue & felt happy & trusting while their partner disrespected them left & right by cheating behind their back.

I hope everyone who's cheated can recognize the way that damages the other person. You've voluntarily chosen to traumatize another person, fuck with their ability to trust and that's fucking shameful. If your needs are being met, grow up and communicate that and if that means leaving the relationship, do that.

People always forget what it can mean for those that got cheated on. • @dataexpunged6969
    @dataexpunged6969 ปีที่แล้ว +409

I kind of disagree with her saying that you shouldn't tell someone that you've cheated on them (I do see where she's coming from though), because of a few things -
    1) If they find out by someone else or later on, they'll feel much more betrayed and hurt as opposed to being told directly.
    2) If they had doubts and suspicions about their partner cheating, but the partner never admits to it, it'll be low-key gaslighting and the person will not be able to trust their instinct again.
    3) This ties into point 2, but if the partner never admits, the person will never learn what the signs are, and might be oblivious next time too, if it were to happen.
    4) If there has been cheating, there's a good chance that the other person might be at risk of STDs if they were to engage in activities with the cheater, so it's paramount to know (Amazing point made by the commenter Kay [@K.TH-cam2])
So while yes, it's painful, I think it's very necessary.

Yep. In an open relationship, people have their main partner but can sleep with other people random outside of it and it's not a big deal. In a poly relationship, there are multiple genuine partners involved so everyone knows about everyone and organizes together. That's why cheating can still happen in poly relationships, if they sleep with someone outside the partners without them knowing.
