Why did you label the capacities at the demand and supply node net supply? Why did you also make the demand nodes a negative number when you didn’t do same in the transportation problem in the previous problem? Please reply. Thank you
No I do not, but you can check this statcan page: www144.statcan.gc.ca/tdih-cdit/index-eng.htm Or contact the owner of blogs like this blog.enterprisedna.co/power-bi-sample-dashboard-using-logistics-data/
@@joshemman The changing variables from plant to warehouse is not changing after applying limit contraint for the warehouses. If possible, could you please share your email so that I can share the question(has few more constraints) & my excel ? Thanks!
If you use ≤ for Supply, you only need dummy if Demand is greater than Supply. But if you use = for all constraints, you will need dummy whenever Supply ≠ Demand.
@@joshemman The problem is worded as follows: Now imagine that management decides that shunting is not allowed. Management’s new objective is to satisfy the demand with a minimum total number of trains (under the assumption that a single train can contain any number of rail cars).
@@dirk6908 It sounds like you want to minimize the number of arcs (branches) used. Since each arc is associated with a decision variable, say Xi, then a binary model could work with objective like: Min ∑Xi where each X= 0 or 1.

I like the format how you solve the problem. It is neat and clear! :)
We are six people from HA Esbjerg That really liked your video :)
Glad to hear. 🙏

Thanks Emmanuel great video, do you have a dataset on transport data, that can help create dashboards and do transshipment analysis?

Joshua- How to solve the problem if WH1 & WH2 has a pre-defined storage capacity in the contraint?
Suppose WH1 is constrained to handle no more than 500 units.
In Solver, Click Add,
For the LHS, select the cell G6 (see 0:59)
For the sign, select “

hi, in unbalanced transshipment problem, can u explain why not putting dummy?

Dear Joshua, how could you minimize the amount of shipments being made in this situation if transshipment is not allowed and demand is being met?
Is your objective to minimize shipments?
@@joshemman Yes it is
@@dirk6908 if transshipment is not allowed, then you might have a basic transportation problem. How exactly is the problem worded?
