I just love your videos! The ladies that I teach are going to LOVE this project to make gifts for their friends and family. Living in a domestic violence/sexual assault shelter truly limits their income and their ability to just go out and shop, things we take for granted! I have a couple of churches that are always willing to help me with supplies for my classes…so helpful because I would literally spend everything I have on these ladies and their kiddos lol
Adding a piece of wood to the underside of your canvas makes it burnish easier and prevents the “give” in the canvas. I use this trick when painting. I love your tutorial. I’m looking to buy either a Cricut, silhouette or scan n cut so I’m searching TH-cam for videos. Glad I found you.
You are the Best! I love watching your tutorials and I appreciate how you explain what you are using before and during and what products to use. I also appreciate and love how you test out products to see what works best for you. Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I am an acrylic pour artist who got a cricut for Chriatmas. This reverse stencil method is exactly what I was looking to do on my paint pours. Thanks for the inspiration.
LOVE that you started with the wine! I bashed that Subscribe button after that! I'm hooked...think I'm gonna binge watch a bunch of these and go back later...many times.
I absolutely loved this!! I can't wait to try this new way of painting. I' Love your flower paint box is Amazing!! That will be the next project & of course with wine thankyou Jennifer Maker you make the cricut world so much easier for us Newbies
LOVE THIS TUTORIAL! Just a helpful hint, put something behind your canvas, like a sturdy pillow form so you don't bind or push your canvas through! Hope that helps for future canvas projects!😉💜
I loooove this idea!!! I used the vinyl this year on canvases for our Christmas gifts from our toddler tonour family members. I let her paint the canvas then I didn’t do the reverse idea, but I just used vinyl lettering and made cute signs for them to hang up. They were a hit. But I won’t lie... getting the vinyl to stick to the canvas was quite rough.... but it did in the end! They were super fun!
Very cool. I do dirty pours and want to incorporate that into this method. I've seen other crafters use mod podge first on a stencil, let it dry, then paint as you normally would. This prevents bleeding. Thanks for the tutorial, you do a great job!
Hello Jennifer ! I am new to your videos. I was in a craft store last week and I was talking to a lady who I never met before. We started talking about the different projects that we wanted to make with our cricut and easy press 2. She told me that I needed to watch your videos because they were amazing and great information. I am glad that I ran into her because I have really enjoyed watching your videos. You make it look so easy and fun. I love your craft room as well. Thank you for sharing.
@@JenniferMaker I'm in the process to move out of state, I'm moving to Florida in 10 days, i haven't be able to craft at all for the past 2 months 🥺 everything is packed, but as soon I find my dream house you craft room will be the role model for mine ❤. Thank you for everything ❤
April Bowers I was wondering why people didn’t use spray paint. It seems like it would give better coverage. When I do wooden signs I always used spray paint with no problems.
Thank you sooo much! You just gave me a great idea :). Love the touch of wine, cheers to you and I appreciate what you bring to the community of crafters.
What a beautiful project. Thank you soooo much for taking the time to show all of us how to do this. Your time is so valuable this time of year. I know that for sure because I love cardmaking videos and and am way behind in the Christmas department. I don’t even have a tree up yet but it’s party due to my other half. The older I get the slower I get. Thanks again Jennifer. Merry Christmas to you and yours. God Bless. Hugz!
I have watched other tutorials for this process and have to say yours is the best. I tried it once and it was horrible (with other tutorials). Going to try again now that I've watched yours. Thanks!
I love these! I may use this idea for our Mom's 80th birthday. We're looking for something that people can write on, yet simple. This is perfect. As for weeding, it's not my favorite thing either. I use a lint roller to keep my "weeding waste" out of the way. It works for me. Thanks for the idea!
Thank you for showing us how to do the hot mess canvas. I am going to try one with a silhouette of my dog Smidget (2003-2019) that I created for one of your courses
what amazing, I'm learning a lot from you.. now I'm very interested to do more creations. and your craft room was awesome, I liked it very much, and love your tutorials, video, technics etc
i tried this hot mess canvas and i used a sampler packet of permanent vinyl from cricut and it worked perfectly!! and i used a foam brush and it turned out amazing!!!!
Love this idea. Have to try it, it will take more out of my comfort zone/OCD. lol Weeding, I'M one of those who love to weed. I got a pin pen and it makes getting the very small pieces and inside letters soo much easier!! I have a small tissue box to put pieces in, or when I take the excess off, I fold it so sticky side is up, and stick pieces to it too. Love your ideas, sooo talented!
I was curious if you played with other colors besides white? For instance red for the Christmas tree? Just wondering your thoughts and results if you did that. Thanks!
I have been binge watching your videos and I absolutely love your teaching style!!!!! I can't wait to start making ALL the things you have shown! Although I have to admit, even tho I do like the projects in this video, I doubt this style is something I will try. It just seems like it's too much hassle...buying all the paint and brushes, painting the board and then waiting so long for it to dry, then the vinyl, then another coat if paint and then waiting hours for that coat to dry...it's def not something you would be able to do in an afternoon craft session. BUT, this would probably be a really good project to do with vinyl scraps! I could definitely see myself saving all the scraps that I would probably throw away and instead I would lay then out on my cutting mat, fitting them together like a puzzle, and then cutting out the project and just placing it on the board as if it were a single sheet on vinyl.
Love your storage flower! Very clever! Also it seems to me that using a brayer for the white paint might be a good technique, maybe faster too. I'll have to try it.
The OraTape (from Oracal) is really nice to work with also. The only Cricut transfer tape I'm ok with is their strong grip, the rest of the line, not so much.
“… admire the beauty of what I make and not obsess about the faults” 💕 Well said!
Thank you! 😊
I need to hear that this very second. I see every error and it gets the best if me.
the wine is a great touch, and i think a good cold drink my help with creativity.... well that's my story
That's MY story, too, Beth, and I'm sticking to it!!! 😍

That is wonderful of you! I really love this project and I think they will too. ❤️
I honestly like the colorful painted background with the white letters 😊 without going over with the white paint
It does look good that way too! 😊
I agree Jennifer, they both were nice without painting around everything! I loved seeing more of your background.
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching!😊🌻

I love, love, love this tutorial! Not only are your projects amazing, but your style of teaching is so much fun! So glad I subscribed!
Thank you so much, Melissa!

Jennifer, you’re truly a breath of fresh air! I so love your videos...and that you craft with wine.🍷
Haha! Thank you! You know, you've got to do what you can to help you get through! ;-)
So jealous of your craft room, love how you are so detailed and direct. I admire your creativity. You are far the best. Love your tutorials.
I absolutely love the weeding part It’s relaxing to me
Glad you enjoy it, Paula! It is NOT relaxing for me!!! 😂
Jennifer, I just found you! I am so happy! You are a joy to watch and your instructions are so clear. Thank you!!!
I really enjoy your Chanel you don’t talk too fast and you are very complete
I appreciate that feedback, Marsha! Thank you! 😍
Wow the difference between the foam brush and the stencil brush is amazing! TYSM for sharing this video! :D
LOVE that you started with the wine! I bashed that Subscribe button after that! I'm hooked...think I'm gonna binge watch a bunch of these and go back later...many times.

You are so welcome, Kim! Wine makes everything, especially crafting, better! In moderation, of course! 😉
That paint storage flower is amazing!!!!😱
Thanks! I have a tutorial for it here: jennifermaker.com/craft-paint-storage-organizer/
LOVE THIS TUTORIAL! Just a helpful hint, put something behind your canvas, like a sturdy pillow form so you don't bind or push your canvas through! Hope that helps for future canvas projects!😉💜
the wine took me out! your the best. ive learned so much from you in the last 6 weeks that ive had my cricut!
So glad to hear that! 😃

So glad you like it! 💕
Paint and wine sounds like a great combination to me!
I love your set up for storing your paints! So love too yr fun looking art studio. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials. What a cool hot mess idea!
Thank you so much, Debbie! 😍

That is awesome! I'm so happy to have you here, crafting with me!
love your videos--wine and crafts, my two favorite things!!
Wow.... that craft room is a dream 😍
I can not wait to have my own. Thank you for your inspiration Jennifer
Thanks so much, Maddalena! You don't have to start with one like mine! Most of my craft spaces have been much smaller! 😊🥰
@@JenniferMaker I'm in the process to move out of state, I'm moving to Florida in 10 days, i haven't be able to craft at all for the past 2 months 🥺 everything is packed, but as soon I find my dream house you craft room will be the role model for mine ❤.

Omg!!! Your paint storage ❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness I totally love them both. They are amazing
Thanks so much! 😃💜
More beautiful ideas to learn. Thanks 😊
My pleasure 😊
When I do Hot Mess Canvas I use spray paint as my top layer. And it works wonderfully!
April Bowers I was wondering why people didn’t use spray paint. It seems like it would give better coverage. When I do wooden signs I always used spray paint with no problems.
April Bowers, just to confirm is spray paint better then?
How to long do you wait after applying spray paint to remove the vinyl
I am so glad that I found your videos yesterday!
Ha! Feeling the same but I found her today!
I really dislike weeding, I wish I was one of those people that finds it relaxing! Beautiful projects
You and me both, Kelly! Weeding is just not something I love! 😂
Vinyl never wants to stick to canvas, you can use a blow dryer real quick over the vinyl to help it stick better. Great video 🙂
In my humble opinion😉.... i think its more-so the transfer tape you use and how sticky it is
Love love love your videos. Was your creativity enhance with the wine. So happy I found your videos
Haha! Always! ;-)
Thank you sooo much! You just gave me a great idea :). Love the touch of wine, cheers to you and I appreciate what you bring to the community of crafters.
Awwww..thank you for crafting with me!

Great job, Jennifer! I enjoyed and learned from your video!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so happy you're here crafting with us! 😊🌻
This was so fun! I made 2 construction theme ones in a reverse canvas for my son’s birthday
This is my first exposure to hot mess canvas. Your projects look great!
Margaret Ball doesn’t it look amazing I like the Christmas 🎄
Love this! And so jelly of your craft room! 😍😍
Great idea for the Christmas Tree I am definitely going to try it for gifts to give out prior to Christmas.
Spray paint for the cover color coat works really well too! No brush strokes or bleeding
Love the look of your craftroom!!!
I use a coat of Mod Podge on the canvas and let it dry, then out the vinyl on it.
is the ModPodge for the vinyl to stick?
Ilse, I did this a while ago, but I do believe Mod Podge ensures a better adhesion than the vinyl by itself.
Nice! Always clear and "real". Thanks a million.
I never have used my cricut for stenciling, you make it look so easy.
Such a cool idea. Will have to try. Love your craft room.
Please do! And I'm happy you love my craft room - I do, too! 😍
I have watched other tutorials for this process and have to say yours is the best. I tried it once and it was horrible (with other tutorials). Going to try again now that I've watched yours. Thanks!
OH MY! That paint flower is amazing!!! I need one. LOL
I was trying to find it on her channel since she said she had a tutorial, but I cannot find it. Were you able to find it?
I use contact paper from the dollar store instead of cricut transfer ...the vinyl sticks awesome to it.
Perfect! 😊

That's a great idea! Go for it! 😃💜
absolutely fantastic you are so clever thanks for sharing x
Thanks so much 😊
I did this, and did two projects like a testing. One canvas with iron on, the other with permanent vinyl. I found I prefer the iron on.
Iron-on works great!
Thank you for showing us how to do the hot mess canvas. I am going to try one with a silhouette of my dog Smidget (2003-2019) that I created for one of your courses
Glad it was helpful, Fiona! What a great idea!!! I'll be waiting to see it! 🥰
Can't wait to try this! You have such wonderful creative ideas!

Glad it was helpful, Rosella! 😊
I really like the Christmas Tree. I also like a stencil brush to paint stencils.
Thank you so much! I like a stencil brush for some applications too! :)

You are so welcome, Colleen! Yes, there are days I have a totally different translation of "hot mess", also! 😂
Love your videos I'm a newbie and I'm learning so much from you. Thank you
Love the paint flower
Me too! 😁
Thank you for explaining this technique. I have an idea of a project to try it on.
Go for it, Denise! 😍
What a beautiful job keep the videos coming
i tried this hot mess canvas and i used a sampler packet of permanent vinyl from cricut and it worked perfectly!! and i used a foam brush and it turned out amazing!!!!
Kinda late but just getting into hot mess technique. Love your paint holder.

Thanks for the great tips. Now I know what to do with some of the Oracal 651 in my stash.
Awesome thank you sharing I’m gonna make them looks so easy and of course I won’t forget the 🍷 WINE🤗
Neat decoration idea!
Thank you, Kara! 😊
Can’t wait to try this
Best of luck! It's a lot of fun! :)
Very cool technique, I will be trying out soon❤️
Have fun, Amber!😍
I love you craft room.
Thanks so much! 🥰
I love your craft room
Thanks, Christenna!
Where is the tutorial for the paint fower? It is genius. I need this so badly.
This looks fun! I’m going to try it. Recommend Moscato.
Love your storage flower! Very clever! Also it seems to me that using a brayer for the white paint might be a good technique, maybe faster too. I'll have to try it.

Jennifer these are absolutely beautiful! Can't wait to try! 💖

As somebody who doesn’t even own a Cricut yet, (hopefully soon😩💖) I love your videos and find them very informative!
Maybe one day!
love the Christmas Tree!
