    3 questions, What's the highest speed you've ever been on a bicycle? What's the highest speed you've ever pushed yourself to on fairly flat land? What's the highest watts you've ever recorded for yourself? Hope all is well with you! I cant ride so much due to freezing cold temperatures but I still enjoy the few rides I get here and there!

    To put the disc vs rim brake debate to and end….in last year’s TDF, TP put up the best Watts / kilo and record times on climbs on a disc bike. If TP doesn’t need a rim bike neither do we.

  • @wesleyooms
    @wesleyooms 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Another metric I find useful is power per beats per minute of heartrate. Because your heartrate has a limited range. So if you can output 2.2 watts per beats per minute, you can in the end achieve a higher absolute power than when you're around 2.0 or 1.8 w/bpm. On an average day, I do 250 watt at 125bpm, but on a strong day, I can do for example 330 at 150 bpm. when I'm completely exhausted, this number can go down to 1.8 or 1.7 w/bpm. It shows me how tired I am and how close to the limit I'm riding during a race.

    • @swites
      @swites 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      What's your max HR btw? As 250w at 125bpm sounds pretty strong. As a more average rider, my power at that HR is about 170w's (my max is 188).

    • @wesleyooms
      @wesleyooms 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@swites Right now my max HR is around 185. It can get a little higher when I train less or lower when I'm tired but generally after a sprint at the end of a hard race it will stay below 185 right now. I did Flammerouge racing series last week and during the TT I held 342 watt for almost an hour. During that TT, my hr slowly creeped up to 175 bpm.

    • @swites
      @swites 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@wesleyooms Similar to my max then. 342 is really good power for that long! Well done!

    Hey, I'm around 90 kg (1,93) male, I ride on a mechanical disc brake road bike (though in my opinion it's more an all road bike) but after every ride I get the disc brake rub, and I'm considering buying another road bike (cheapest entry level Trek/Giant), do you think going with rim brakes would be a good idea? I'm not really into weight savings, I'm still getting fitter, losing weight, I would like the bike to serve as my commuter/city cruiser. I don't need a top tier groupset though I would prefer to get a new bike since it has a warranty.

    'How fast do average cyclist change? 0:42 there are so many variables which affect speed, all these things contribute to speed, only time average speed matter is vledrome, what really matter , how much power you can put at end of race, want power as high possible , always want focus on power, tricky part is getting weight down 2 : 00'

    N.Z is real small And I get to see the odd high end rider about. I chatted to a promising young rider and his father few months back and took a punt on politely calling them out on having a kinda arrogant and elitist attitude...Now they wave, say hi and joke a little, Its awesome!. I don't care how fkn fast you are, if your a kunt your anti cycling. You can be a fast kunt....or a kunt that happens to be fast.

      Check if your pressure is correct. You can use silica tire pressure calculator. Use latex innertubes for maximum speed. The rest comes down to how you ride. Take the weight off over really rough patches and clean your tires with your hand while riding, when you ride through dirt.

      He was doing 90/5/5 during his peak cycling fitness, circa 2012. I think the more "pro" you get as a cyclist, the longer your rides get, and the more calories you burn, the more you need to focus on refuelling, so the carbs have to go up and you'll get closer to the 90/5/5 or even higher. If you're on an easy day and don't need to "fuel" as much, 80/10/10 will probably be quite a normal diet for most
