    Well done folks! Good explanation. Actually the Italian bit sounds a bit complex, but still reasonable. The US and sometimes the German admin can be monsters from time to time too. The Japanese marriage is very light touch based on my marriage experience and also on your explanation. I'm Hungarian, so I was also lucky in the sense that getting recognition for our marriage was very easy: only one form and the copy of the passport were needed. Now prepping for a visa status switch.

      The Japanese ways I hear a lot that changing from tourist visa to spouse visa in one trip is really hard, and that it’s better to have your spouse apply for the COE on your behalf, then apply for the spouse visa at the Japan Embassy or consulate in your home country. Is this true?

    • @thejapaneseways2103
      @thejapaneseways2103  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beau J Hi beau, yes is true I suggest to do that, but in my case when I applied the visa in the immigration office they gave a permission to stay more in case the visa was delaying so in this case I didn’t need to leave the country (but anyway I was just on time for 2 weeks before my 3 months visa expired)
      Is a risk, if you can apply the CEO before come to Japan is better

    Lovely story and actually went really quick!
    So you could do everything while being on a tourist visa.
    In my case now, my work visa is ending and the documents in Germany won't be here in time. So I probably have to go to Korea for a few days. I just wonder immigration doesn't mind if I re-enter the country for the purpose of marriage.

    Hello their!
    So I have a question for you two!!
    When you came to Japan did you bring any of the documentation with you? Also, when you applied for the visa was it without the COE or With COE. I know the COE is nessasary but I believe there are two options, as I listed before. I plan on doing something similar when I return to Japan.
    Also, did you have a ceremony for your wedding or did you do it on a later date once everything was In order with your visa?
    Thanks for the very informative video.

    • @thejapaneseways2103
      @thejapaneseways2103  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Rougeln, I appreciate the comments,
      So, when I come to japan I bring the documents from Italy which confirm that I am not married/single on my status,
      When I applied for the visa I did with the COE, and about the ceremony we don’t after the visa, but you need to prove with picture that your relationship is true
      I hope this info are helpful for you, if you have questions don’t hesitate to ask, I wish you good luck 😉

    Hey, I am writing from Italy! This video is very useful since I am planning to get married with my japanese boyfriend who is in Japan now. If I am not wrong, you just need to get married in Japan to ask for the Japanese spouse visa. You don't need to get married also in Italy for it, am I right? You didn't mention any italian marriage certification within the documents required by immigration office.. Thanks!

    hey thanks for video, I would like to know
    if you got the nationality by marriage in japan ( in case of possible ) , can you still work on getting a visa through work while you have the mariage citizens ?
    because let's imagine you're maried for 8 years, and suddenly you divorce and you worked 8years, it would be weird to have to work 10 years from now to get the visa ?
    thanks for the answer ! have a great day !!

    Hi you two! Nice that it all went so well for you! :)
    I'm going to the immigration office in the next few days and it's about filling out these papers now.
    And I'm stuck with the financial part ("Method of support"), money is no problem for us, but I don't know what they wanna hear...
    So I assume the "Guarantor" would be my wife, but there's an extra field for "supporter" which would be a third party (but not necessary I guess?).
    You mentioned that a confirmation document about the income (in my case my wife's) should be added as well, right?
    Did you prove also personal savings?
    Was the tax document no problem? As you lived in Australia before and my wife was the previous year with me in New Zealand...
    Thanks in advance and have a nice day :)

      Hello beerus, sorry for the late reply, but I am very busy in this days....

    Hello, congratulations on your marriage! I can imagine how happy you are, since i'm applying for the same visa next month. I would like to ask some questions if you don't mind.
    - From what I read on the Immigration website, one should apply for a COE first before having the visa issued, and it takes from 1 to up to 3 months, but in your case it took 2 weeks as you said. How is that possible?
    I've been already twice to Japan to marry at the city hall and then to get the marriage recognised in my country embassy (portugal) so next step will be applying for the visa. I would really save a lot of time and struggle if I could get it in 2 weeks...
    Cheers for the new half couple!

      @thejapaneseways2103  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you, Julio,
      And congratulation to you too.
      Yes, True I have been very lucky, What I Can suggest to you if you didn't go to the immigration office yet, you might want to prepare all the photo of your relationship and the I.d. (you can do it in 7eleven) and you wife might need to ask the tax certification in her town hall, so you might want to save some time with the application.
      In my case, when I applied they put me in kind of bridge visa, so in the case, if the visa was not ready I didn't need to leave the country...
      Then for everyone is different for the time process
      Let me know if you have more questions, I hope this was helpful and I wish good luck!

      LOL they talked about their experience, yours is completely different. I suggest you call up immigration office and ask them. As they mentioned and also from my experience, it will depend on what city(prefecture) you are in/you want to live in.
      Do your search mate.
