Love these two bands but I agree with you that this song does not showcase the best of them. I'd love to see Babymetal collaborate with Polysics (I recall Wave used to like this band a lot), Maximum the Hormone, and many other Japanese bands, but it's funny that they haven't collaborated with any Japanese artists yet, to the extent like Bring Me the Horizon/Joakim Brodén/Electric Callboy (please correct me if I'm wrong).
@@3menThere us a simple reason. They are not big enough in Japan. In Europpe and the USA, they are big , but in Japan there is about Factor 10 to the Leaders.
@@3men They have collabed with an japanese artist called Tak Matsumoto on the song DA DA DANCE. Tak is the guitarist for Japanese band called the B'z. Which is literally one of the biggest bands ever in japan. Like X Japan levels of popularity:D. So yeah that collab was pretty big deal. Edit. Okay I misremembered. B'z has sold the MOST albums in Japan ever (86 million albums sold overall). So I guess they are even bigger than X Japan.
@@3men Their very first collab was with a Japanese punk-pop (I think) band called Kiba of Akiba. They released a joint EP where each band also covered one of the other band's songs. Kiba of Akiba covered 'Doki Doki Morning', BABYMETAL covered 'Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai'
Actually this song is released back in Babymetal's Metal Galaxy album in 2019. The original studio version of this song featured Tim Henson and Scott LePage guitars, but when Babymetal performed this song live it had always been the Kami band playing the guitar parts. This is the video where Babymetal, Tim and Scott finally performed this song live together. Been waiting for this live performance for very long ever since I heard this song hahaha. But better late than never they finally performed this live together!! 🎉❤
Great reaction. 'Brand New Day' was on the Light Side of the Metal Galaxy album in 2019. I recall Moa saying in an interview when talking about the album and the songs and influences on it that she even wondered was BND even metal? Fox-Fest was the very first time they had the chance to play live together.
What kind of question is this? If Su develops a raste for classical instrumenets we can insure her that this is, or at least was metal, there are many smaller Orchesters whobsurvive with this stuff.
This was Polyphia guesting on a Babymetal song. Tim Hensen gave an interview last week, and said that the next Polyphia album would feature collaborations and many artists have been asked, he also mentioned that Babymetal has already accepted and is onboard with guesting on a Polyphia song. That is cool.
I like the way su's voice cuts through the "wall of metal". But there is a downside to that in that the musical detail is lost in the storm and without detail polyphia is only half present.
It's funny how you still hadn't heard this song eventhough Alan told you about it like 100 times when you still did the Gaijin Guys podcast. Like everytime you talked about babymetal collabs he mentioned it:D
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this at the venue (2 times on Day-1 & 2). What a bliss!! Soothing and exquisite performance by 5 elegant figures in the center 😍. Classy support by our Kami Band on both sides (4 guitars in total) ❤. The applause at the end was much much much bigger than that recorded in this video.
This is the 1st time played live with Polyphia guitarists at the FoxFest this year. The song was on the Metal Galaxy album. They are discussing doing another collab. You have to remember the kami band has to be able to play this.
I dont know about the American guys, although they have played this song once. But the Japanese guys plays this song without any hiccup. Like we are talking about Takayoshi, Leda and Isao here. They will literally play anything.
Brand New Day / BABYMETAL Lyrics : MK-METAL (Miki Watanabe), Music Composed & Arranged by MEGMETAL(MEG), Produced by KOBA METAL (Kei Kobayashi) The guitar solo part of this song was performed by two members of Polyphia (Tim Henson and Scott LePag) in collaboration with BABYMETAL on their third album "Metal Galaxy"(2019).
Sad to hear Wave not really wibing with this song, but I guess I'm not surprised since this has always been one of the most underrated BM songs. Some of the most interesting and rhythmically inovative riffs in the whole BM discography.
Polyphia said at download festival they had written another track for Babymetal and they want Babymetal to write a track for them. When Rock Sound interviewed Polyphia at download they said they want to tour with Babymetal, as did Barbie Thug, The Offspring, Alpha Wolf, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnskes, Enter Shikari plus others!
👍 👍 Easily one of my top 5 BABYMETAL songs. For me though the 2021 performance of this song remains my favorite because of the sound production and atmosphere.
Great reaction and better late than never :D - this was at the Fox Festival this year, the same show where Electric Callboy played with Babymetal. I believe that Polyphia also had a show at this festival (same venue as this video).
Brand New Day is a beautiful song to experience live. You have to see it performed in person with a huge live sound setup and a jumbo screen. It’s magical because the song makes you feel like they took you somewhere you've never been. Fox_Fest was the best. We saw BABYMETAL perform with Polyphia and Electric Callboy live on the same night. It was the most jam-packed BABYMETAL concert I've ever seen. What a lavish experience it was!🤘🦊🤘
Wave you are driving me crazy (lovingly of course) but this collab was brought up at least three times on the GG podcast. Each time you said "How haven´t I heard this song yet". I really thought you were trolling duing the intro lol
Isn't 'expect the unexpected' the MO of both groups? Mission accomplished. Studio version has far more going on. Can't believe you've not heard it or seen the previous live versions. Clearly we have been slacking in our suggestions for the live streams.
I believe Koba has said in an interview that this song is an homage to City Pop, a style of music popular in Japan in the 70s and 80s. It was (and is as it is experiencing a surge in popularity again) a sophisticated, light style of pop music. Takeuchi Mariya and her song Plastic Love (40m views on TH-cam) is one of the most popular artists of this genre. This of course is a bit harder and more rock than most City Pop songs, it is Babymetal after all.
(joking of course) An other fake fan who didn't know the song existed 🙂 Seriously... it's not a hype song or mind blowing collab as it could have been.
What do YOU think of this collab?!

Yes! I love Polysics! My first real exposure to Japanese music. That would be awesome!

👍 👍
Easily one of my top 5 BABYMETAL songs.

Imagine a world tour that has BabyMetal, Sabaton, BMTH, Electric Callboy, Polyphia, Tom Morello, BodySlam, F Hero, Dragonforce.
Also Lil uzi vert😸
