FANTASTIC CHANNEL!! Do you have any of the cut scenes from Spock's Brain?? Seriously, Id love to see those if you do. I know stuff was left on the cutting room floor from that one.
Thank you, Tracy. I will check, but I do not think there are any scenes from "Spock's Brain?" "Brain and brain, what is brain? It is the Controller, is it not?" If I do have it, I will upload it for you. Thank you for your comments, and these replies were funny also. 👍🖖
I like his cadence, the electronic modification used for the produced and aired version is too artificially low. Indeed, a retake where adding a little more subtle persuasion/menace would have nailed it. He comes close... But the produced version with the shimmering half-traslucent effect definitely hides the shower curtain robe.
I was fascinated by Melvin’s appearance when I was younger; now that I’ve lived a life, it seems kind of arbitrary. I can’t imagine any lawyer today doing this.
Belli was one of the first celebrity TV attorneys as well as some would argue the original "trial Lawyer" for liability claims, . I just always figured he had the goods on Roddenberry for something and he got cast to keep him quiet.
I just saw another clip that said the director and producer both hated Melvin Belli in this role. So why did they dress him up as a clown? Did they think that would HELP his performance? He looks like Clara-fkin-bel. I know some people get creeped out by clowns but for those of us unafraid of clowns, this costume is laughable.
Wasn't the intention to always have him overlaid, creating a translucent effect. A bright shimmering curtain would add to the effect leas expensively than more intricate optical effects and both seemed to be used. But as a plain scene without effects, it clearly fails.
Where are these coming from? Were they on a TOS dvd or blu ray set? Obviously these are being videod off of a tv screen. So what is the source of the videos?
@@alexxbaudwhyn7572 Ahh. I just looked it up and I'm going to bet you are correct. Plex lists the episodes from which they come and even lists Uhura's "Beyond Antares" which was just posted.
Perhaps the worst episode of the entire series. If not, it's tied with Turnabout Intruder, The Lights Of Zetar and Charlie X (season one) all of which I simply cannot watch. Let's face it Season Three had only three watchable episodes, The Enterprise Incident, Elan of Troyus and Specter of the Gun. I actually never watch season three, and only watch a handful of season two episodes. Season One had the most to offer, when it was more grounded and the storytelling was better.
@@JoseyWales44s no redeeming quality in THE ALTERNATIVE FACTOR. At least this episode showed new areas of the ship and had the security guards armed into space

All of that episode should be on that same floor.

I would love to see footage of the actors struggling to not burst out laughing during filming.
So this is how the attorney Belli really sounds-neat!
Hail hail, fire and snow!

G. Gordon Liddy would've nailed it.
I always enjoy Mr. Liddy on Miami Vice.
Johnny Cochran: If the costume don't fit you must acquit! Who told you to put the salve on?

They should have made the shower curtain cover his face as well. Skeezy lawyer, terrible actor. (But thanks for the clip!)
His voice was way too high, had to be lowered.

I like his performance better without the SFX
I actually dig this episode. It's been maligned unfairly over the years.
I like this episode 😎👍

Probably the Roddenberry Vault bluray set

All of these Star Trek scenes are from The Roddenberry Vault Blu-Ray Set (2016). 👍🖖

This was a lame episode.
Far worse than Spock's Brain. I don't care what anyone says.

Crappy character in TOS’ worst episode.

THE ALTERNATIVE FACTOR is the worst
@@kunserndsittizen2655 Not a great episode but miles better than some of the 3rd season clunkers, like this one.

@@kunserndsittizen2655 Well, to each, their own.
Not for me. My personal choice for worst episode is a tie between The Mark of Gideon/Turnabout Intruder.
