Sharing a slightly different kind of video comprising some photographic moments as well as a train departure video captured at a beautiful station named Tufanganj Railway Station situated in Coochbehar district of West Bengal near the West Bengal-Assam interstate border. Technically, this is the last station of West Bengal in its north-eastern margins located on the branch line connecting New Coochbehar (West Bengal) and Fakiragram Junction (Assam) via Dhubri. Note that, the Boxirhat station frequently identified as the last station of West Bengal is in the geographical territory of Assam making Tufanganj (TFGN), the station en-route to Dhubri. A total of 6 trains (3 pairs) serve this station. The 75741/42 Siliguri Jn.-Dhubri DEMU (daily) via New Malbazar-Alipurduar Junction, 07525/26 Siliguri Jn.-New Bongaigaon DEMU Special (daily) via Maynaguri Road are the regular mainstays for the common passengers. The 15417/18 Alipurduar Jn.-Silghat Town-Alipurduar Jn. Rajya Rani Express (runs with ICF Utkrisht rake) connects this station with major cities/towns like Alipurduar, Coochbehar, Guwahati, Bongaigaon and Dhubri on a tri-weekly basis. Freight movements are comparatively lesser in this section unlike other main-line or branch line sections of NF Railway. The station is well connected to the town Tufanganj (3-4 Km. away from the town center) by means of E-rickshaws or cars/vehicles.
The 15417 Alipurduar Jn.-Silghat Town Rajya Rani Express has been spotted departing the Tufanganj station behind regular New Guwahati based ALCo links; here it was an ALCo WDM3D 11557. Watch the 07525 Siliguri Jn.-New Bongaigaon DEMU departing from Tufanganj here at:

About Tufanganj: Tufanganj is an important municipal and commercial town in Cocchbehar/Koch Bihar district of West Bengal. The town is a sub-divisional headquarter including two community development blocks namely-Tufanganj-I and II. According to the 2011 census of India, the town had a population of 20,998. Photographs and videos were taken in between 4 & 5 March, 2020.

More trains should be diverted via tufanganj line to fakiragram bypassing new alipurduar

Yes that is needed but it looks difficult as after electrification more and more trains will get e-locos and there are yet no news of electrification of the Tufanganj branch line is in public. Besides, the distance between NCB-FKM via TFGN-DBB is about 145 Km. while it is only 88 Km. via NOQ. However, I think that some new/additional trains such as express/intercity express/shuttle services should be introduced via Tufanganj so that some more revenue can be earned. Infrastructure should be developed at the first phase like doubling, electrification, better amenities at stations en-route. Lets hope for the best. Thanks a lot for watching and the suggestion.
