I am working on an ‘83 7.5 sea king with a very similar idle problem as what you were facing. So adjusting the low speed mixture screw was all it took to fix the idle?
Hello! You want to fiddle with the throttle screw and the low speed mixture. I used this video to help guide me: th-cam.com/video/6bTsQC0zDIc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=chrysleroutboarddude . The main issue I had at first was that I was only running on one cylinder. Make SURE you aren't running on one cylinder because that gave me a big heart/headache!
@@bebeslife4519 thanks for the reply man I am about 90% sure it’s running on both cylinders because at WOT it’s got plenty of power and it’s running flawlessly at WOT, I also checked both compression and spark. I messed with the idle adjustment screw when cleaning the carb and forgot to check how far out it was before removing it so I think that’s it.
@@Hensleytheultimatehoundsman For the carb screw, it’s recommended to screw all the way in, (don’t try to tighten) and turn back out from there 1 1/4 turns. Maybe you can upload a video/short on your motor when you finish? And your welcome!
@@bebeslife4519 alright traced down the problem and it’s not carb related at all. I saw a small hairline crack on the fuel pump intake side and I thought maybe it was causing an air leak keeping gas from getting to the carb. I gravity fed gas directly to the carb and it idles all day long just fine now so all I need is a new fuel pump housing.
I have the same motor 15 horsepower and 7 1/2 I have the same problem with both of them when I test them at home they seem to have power and run good but when I go in the water I can't plain on 10ft dingy
@@1zizko The 15 should definitely plane on a 10 ft empty dinghy. You likely are running on one cylinder. When they’re running try to carefully remove each spark plug boot at a time and see if the engine stumbles
@@bebeslife4519 I will check it out as soon as I find sometime I also have a 4 horsepower got it for cheap from a guy that probably found it on the bottom of the river it was it was filled with mud I cleaned it up and everything is running like a champ
