I think the Canon EOS R5 along with the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 lens would make an awesome portable combo for bird and wildlife photography. Relatively light weight, sharp, high resolution and very impressive stabilisation for both stills and video. Thanks for watching 🙏📸🦅🦋
Awesome video mate, you got some ripper shots. The closeups of the crimson rosellas & the footage of the king parrots right at the end were👍👍👍 R5 is a pretty good camera for wildlife for sure!
Thanks Peter. Yeah that R5 man o man, great camera for this type of photography. Do love that video it puts out too. So impressed by its performance. The great thing too it takes a standard CFE-B card and SD card so that's good in keeping costs down. Have a great weekend mate, cheers 🙏📸
Awesome work again Adrian. I'm guessing you'll be doing a comparison between all these cameras at some stage. It's hard to remember and compare what you said about the others ...!!!! All very good indeed.
You read my mind Richard. I was very lucky as fate would have it, I scored a camera overlap where I had both the Sony A1 and Canon R5 at the same time for a few days. So yes, there will be a comparison video coming out sometime. Thanks for watching mate, have an awesome weekend 🙏
Thank you very much for watching Ron. Much appreciated 🙏

Great collection of photographs on the Canon R5, video footage also very good. Thats some lens Adrian to carry around but some well detailed shots. Many thanks for sharing work and catch you next time :)
Wow, the amount of incredible shots in this video is amazing. Very sharp results. Looks like a fantastic camera for wildlife photography, but of course you can't forget the talented photographer behind the lens! One image that stood out to me in particular was the dragonfly shot at 7:05. Very cool watching your journey in testing these cameras out.
Thanks for watching Courtney. Watching through the viewfinder and seeing the R5 track dragonflies in flight is insanely good. Glad you enjoyed the pics, enjoy your week 🙏📸
Thanks for watching Richard. It would be nice to test a Z9 on my channel. But I pretty much know I won't be getting a Z9 due to its weight being greater than that of my current D850. That is one of the main reasons why I wanted a mirrorless camera in the first place, less weight for long hikes into mountains and huge national parks we have here in Australia. Enjoy your week 🙏📸
Thanks so much for watching Leo. Next week I have a great little vlogging camera to review, then it's back to the good ol D850 and D750 for me (for a little anyways 😉) Enjoy your weekend 🙏
Oh my gosh those pictures and video out of the Canon were amazing! So crisp and being able to see every little hair on the head of a butterfly or the feather detail on the birds. Wow! How funny was the dishevelled young osprey? Like a teenager with messy hair. Ha ha. Another brilliant video. Amazing to watch.
Thanks so much for watching!! Yeah that juvenile Osprey is one of three up there that were flying around and learning to fish that day. They were hilarious to watch, that kept missing their food, but made a hell of a splash in the water. Unfortunately they were a tad too far our to photograph 🙏📸
Hi Adrian, oh wow - you got out so many outstanding results :) Really well done, and that's not only because of the camera. Although it looks definitely after a good one. Thank you for sharing and nice greetings, Christian
Thanks so much Christian! 😊 Glad you enjoyed the video. Oh yes the R5 is an amazing camera. I enjoyed it very much. Hope you have a great weekend my friend, take care 🙏📸
Thanks for watching Andy. Indeed the R5 is very impressive. I'm so amazed at the images both in stills and video that comes from it. Have a great week mate, cheers 👍📸🙏
Great video Adrian! Just some amazing shots in this one. The in-flight shots at 4:19 and 8:14 (among others) are just incredible! The image quality, even the ones at ISO 3000 looks outstanding! Sony, Nikon, Canon...seems like you have a tough choice on your hands but I hardly think you can go wrong with whatever you decide. Normally I skip product reviews unless I'm in the market for something, but I found this whole series really well done with some amazing photos. Great stuff mate. Have a wonderful weekend down there!
Thanks Paul for watching. You are exactly right. It doesn't matter what camera you go with, you'e on a winner which ever way. That's the thing about cameras today we're spoilt for choice and the competition is fierce between manufacturers. No camera is perfect, it's about getting the perfect camera that suits you and your type of photography. Have an awesome weekend mate and take care 👍🙏📸
Great video my friend! You sold me with the R5 I am amazed with the eye tracking that just make all the difference. Regarding the 45 mega pixels it really gives you the option when cropping a photo another option is that you can still use EF lenses we can only hope Canon will lower the cost to those RF lenses 😉. Hope you had a great weekend. 🦃🙏🏼
Thank you so much for watching my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes absolutely you can use Canon EF lenses on the R5 with the adaptor with no issues. However I would not advise using EF-S lenses (crop sensor lenses) and I have done a video on the reasons why and will be released in the future on my channel. Have a great week and take care 📸🙏
Thanks for watching. I think the ISO is on par with each other to be honest. However, in focusing in low light like at Lamington National Park with birds in dark shadows, I found the A1 was a bit better at finding them and locking on. Have a great weekend cheers 👍🙏📸
It's going to be a tough decision as all cameras have been amazing. Some fantastic bird images! That R5 auto focus plus the ability to crop with detail is a big plus👌 Great vlog and review mate 👍
Thanks Colin. Yes all the cameras I've tested have been truly amazing. I'd be happy with any of them to be honest. The R5 is such a good all rounder. Enjoy your weekend mate, cheers 🙏📸
Wow - even without the RF lens you got some great shots. I haven't used the R5 with the 100-500mm specifically for wildlife, I think now you've convinced me to make it a dedicated outing.
Thanks Russ. Yes you have a very powerful wildlife and bird combo on your hands there. Definitely worth going out and using it to its full potential. Enjoy your weekend 🙏
You captured some beautiful images Adrian . I especially loved that Osprey at around 3:40 and that dragonfly - wow 👏 The colors are absolutely gorgeous as well. That R5 is a tough one to beat. Perhaps someday you'll have the opportunity to try out some native glass as well :) Cheers and enjoy your week!
Many thanks for watching Rob. The R5 is pretty amazing for this type of photography. For objects close up like bees, butterflies and dragonflies, (especially flying ones) the R5 focus is second to none. Good all round camera. Have an awesome week my friend, take care 📸🙏👍
Thanks for watching. I have contacted Nikon to try and get a Z9 to show on my channel. Have had no response. Both Sony and Canon were very kind to send me their cameras. Besides the Z9 is too heavy for the type of photography and hiking I want to do in the future, even Nigel Danson, a Nikon "sponsored" photographer said that too.
Thanks for the great video Adrian. Wondering how was the battery life performance and does the battery percentage noticeably affect camera performance? Also wondering what the buffer performance is like when shooting bursts. Thanks for the great content ☺️
Thanks for watching Ben. Battery power was very good. One battery easily lasted me the day out doing bird photography. The buffer too was very good. The swallow flying sequence I shot at the end of the video was done by setting up and I started firing away while my wife walked over near it and spooked it away off the railing. The buffer cleared pretty quickly, but I was using a fast CFE-B card.
Thank you very much Scott. Hard choice indeed. All truly amazing cameras. The R5 is just so good at doing everything really. Glad you enjoyed the vid mate. Enjoy your weekend. 👍🙏📸 PS. Sounds like an A7RIII has got a new home in the Tilley house?
Thanks for watching David. I would rate the R5 is very close to the '"Canon" D850 mirrorless equivalent, only with better auto focus in video. In terms of dynamic range however I think the D850 has it in that department. So for things like landscape I would prefer my current D850. However, for everything else I would prefer the Canon R5. Especially for bird and wildlife shots. In the end all are brilliant cameras, you're on a winner with any of them 👍🙏📸
@@adrianalfordphotography Thanks Adrian. I think I'm sold on the D850 for now and for wildlife until some of the mirrorless cameras resolve some of their issues such as blackout and battery. I do like the R5 but think the D850 is more for me. Looking forward to seeing your next round of videos. Stay safe. David 🙏😊🙏
You have a tough choice to make, but my money is on the R5 as of right now… unless you can get a Z9 as it is the only Z camera that can compete with your D850… this is a tough one. 👍📸
Exactly right David. It's a tough one. The R5 is so good. It ticks all the boxes. The Z9 is just too heavy for the type of run and gun bird and wildlife photography I like to do. Even hiking into landscape situations too heavy. So I'm not considering it. Sony have a great range of E mount lenses already available and easy to purchase , but Canon are closing in. Nikon have still yet to release their Z versions 200-600mm, 400 and 600 primes. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend, take care 📸🙏🍂
I have two RF telephoto lenses (100-500 and 800F11) and two EF telephoto lenses (400F4DOM2 and 500F4M2). For stills, I cannot say that the R5 performs better with RF lenses compared to EF lenses. For video, it is a slightly different story as being able to get stable video at 800 mm is a hard thing to believe, except after you have done it with the R5. I can't even do that with EF lenses. :) Both RF lenses are incredibly lightweight, though. All of them are razor sharp. Nice vid.
I can 100% confirm it is an awesome combo 🙂
good camera
I like how you point out interesting scenes and moments in wildlife. Thanks 👍😊
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
Great stuff as always, Adrian! Thanks for giving the Canon a go. See ya next week. 🍻
Thanks for watching Phil. Really appreciated, cheers 🍻🤙🙏
