Flags can represent empires, countries, states, county, town, neighborhood, clan, buildings, families, schools. You can basically have a flag for anything

(9:00) Since emoji uses flags based on ISO 3166, and since Puerto Rico has a code right now, I don't see them removing the code just because Puerto Rico becomes a state. For example, French overseas territories have codes (and therefore flags in emoji) despite being an integral part of France. But emoji also supports subdivisions too. So the normal flag for USA is 🇺🇸 (US) but there's also an emoji for Texas: 🏴 (🏴USTX✦) and Puerto Rico actually has two flags in emoji 🇵🇷 (PR) and 🏴 (🏴USPR✦), so if the former is removed, the latter can be used.
Now an issue is that these regional flags aren't normally supported so you're likely just seeing invalid flags or black flags, but these are valid codes that are just waiting for implementation.

(0:10) I didn't see a comment on it, but the UK flag has rotational symmetry. You can rotate it 90°, 180° and 270° and the diagonal lines will be correct regardless. What it doesn't have is mirrored symmetry, so when you flip it vertically it will be wrong.
This also means that when the Australian flag is flown vertically with the canton still top left, the Union Jack will be mirrored, which isn't the case for the real UK flag flown vertically.

I think german towns have flags too, it's kinda fun if you grew up in a small village and found out you had a flag! Edit: my village doesn't have a flag, just an coat of arms, but the municipality it belongs to has a flag. It's rlly boring tho, just the already sorta boring emblem of the municipality and white and green. The nearest town has a rlly cool flag tho!

(3:15) The Klingon flag is based on the Nаzі flag. But the Nаzі flag, from a purely vexillological viewpoint, is a good flag with good use of colour. It's just such a shame the symbols is ruined by the Nаzіs for their evil actions.

Flying the UK flag upside down although rare can be used as a distress signal. It was used in the Boer War in the late 18th century.
I get that it’s not symmetrical and doesn’t have rotational symmetry but why isn’t it the same when upside down? Whenever I try to look it is the same upside down.
Edit: or do you mean flipped from left to right, since that does change it.
Edit: Oh, it means flipped so that the front bottom is the back top, not just upside down as in rotated 180 degrees.

But the UK flag is rotationally symmetric.
It's off center to the left on top, and to the right on the bottom.
When rotated 180° this cancels out. This is the difference between horizontal/vertical symmetry (Which the UK flag isn't) and rotational symmetry.
This means the flag in the tweet is flipped vertically.

0:12 thats still the right way up, you rotated it and the union jack has rotational symmetry.
What the union jack doesn't have is vertical and horizontal symmetry. So flip it upside down rather than rotate it, so red saltire of Ireland is above the white saltire of Scotland in canton (top left corner). Thats how it can be upside down.
