    Thanks Ayla.
I have been playing for 57 years.
Grew up outside Detroit, The ROCK and ROLL Capital.
I have lived outside Nashville for the last 32 years.
I have seen JIMI 6 times.
    Led Z. 8 times
    Jethro Tull, ect, ect.
I have spent my life always with a guitar close by.
Following the greats and supporting them.
I have been very blessed to have had the privilege to witness the greatest years of Rock and Soul.
I know this era is important to you and I want to thank you for keeping it alive in your own way.
I also want to thank the YOU-TUBE Guitar community. There are a lot of hard working young people out there.
Its a Wonderful thing that the Guitar is still KING

If someone cant stretch to do it then their not ready to be playing scales. This is a good guitar teacher however, she is very clear and makes it so a beginner can understand and that is crucial. I enjoy watchering her teaching she is always correct. Their are people on youtube giving bad advice . But she is good. I no , i been playing 37 years i wish i had someone teach me back when i started like her. I had no youtube then only books thst was confusing and was hard to understand.

Your teaching style makes it easy for students to understand and clear on what we should practice. I really appreciate these videos. Thank you for making them and sharing your knowledge.

I’m still very new, 3 weeks in, but one thing I’ve noticed with the basic chords was I practiced transitioning through them in the same order I learned them. It became easier and I thought I had them down. That was until I picked up songs that required different chord progressions.
So I learned them D-A-E… then I get a song that’s A-E-D. So going back and working on chords in different orders is helping me right now.

Well, according to this I'm already beyond beginner, but Ayla just explains things so damn good, clearly, with enough detail not to oversimplify it but not so much that it gets boring to a beginner. One of the best channels for people who are starting out.

  • @dbreardon
    @dbreardon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

As a less than one month beginner I have been working on the A minor pentatonic and I am seeing a number of patterns for mostly natural notes and where one note is in relation to another both up and down the neck as well as up and down the strings....B and C are right next to each other on fretboard....same with E and F, A+3 frets is a C, E+ 3 frets is a G, all other natural notes are just 2 frets away from each other. D is always above G, A is always above D, etc except when the #2(B string) is involved and then it shifts up the neck, G is above(Higher string number) and catty-corner to a C unless B string is involved for the C......and a number of others. So if I know which note I am pressing down on, I have a good frame of reference for a number of notes around that fret location.
Still a work in progress for me.

  • @larrypower8659
    @larrypower8659 ปีที่แล้ว +1

First off, I congratulate you on your tutorials. Really well done! As a guitar teacher myself and a professional musician for over 50 years, I really enjoy your presentation, content, and execution. Secondly, I’ve always felt that bringing up the CAGED system and Cycle of Fifths, etc., actually scares people. It can be confusing, even though the information is not really difficult in itself. The way you use CAGED as a practice and basic learning tool makes sense to me and I’m gonna steal it! Thirdly, I think the major pentatonic scale (and the major scale, in general) gets much less attention than it should. After all, the diatonic major scale is the building block of Western Music, and the major pentatonic scale is the skeleton of it. My friend Justin, a Phd in classical composition, says the greatest scale of all is the minor pentatonic because it sounds good with anything! And, its skeleton is really the shape of both minor AND major pentatonics. Keep up the good work; you’ll have many, many followers in short order.

  • @simontemplar3359

I have to say that of all the guitar teachers out there, your method and manner are so approachable and make it easy to understand. I think you made a great point about reciting the intervals as you play. The reason for that is once you know the patterns and relationships (i.e., the location of the 4 relative to the root was a big aha moment for me), it truly makes it easier to navigate. Once you know those intervals and you know how the scales and modes are really subtle variations of the major scale, man... all I can say is this:
it's 160 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes; it's dark; and we're wearing sunglasses.
    HIT IT!
I think the first thing I ever saw. was the cover of "since I've been Loving You," and I knew right there that you were a great player. I'm so grateful you share your knowledge and talent!

I taught my self the root notes on the E and A strings very early in my chord learning process because of neccessity. I was struggling with the open C chord so I used a bar instead. That opened up the fret board because I then had every note in only two bar fingering shapes.
Trick was understanding and locking in this fundamental A_BC_D_EF_G (_ means a fret between natural notes)
I mapped G and A on the E string and C and D on the A string because these fall on the dot frets... so easy to remember. Then using the fundamental, one can find any note/chord including sharps and flats when indicated.
    Hope that helps another learner.

Hello Ayla I would recommend ,Downloading and printing out A Guitar fretboard That only has the Natural Notes
I found it great for studying .and it was better to leave out the sharps and flats!.

Hi, great video. A few months back I saw you do a pentatonic scale video and as a beginner that indeed opens everything up. So thank you.

I know 2,3 minor pentatonic shapes, but when I play those notes it sounds boring after sometimes or may be I am playing the same stuff... but when I do the same with the backing track it feels like a magic! But I don't know how to make a delicious backing track...if you can talk about the making of backing track may be in your next video, that will be really helpful for me...Thanks... your videos are really helping me

I'm not sure where absolute beginner ends, but I'm one.
A., thanks! I have more than basic theory (from piano lessons); doubtless this helps, but buying a guitar has been a unique experience. No regrets! I saw stars ✨✨ when you did the pentatonic scale - but y'know, 10 mins later, the building blocks were down.
I've such a long way to go, but this is great! You're inspirational!

This is great. Thanks a lot. I was wondering instead of remembering the notes in the scale as root, flat 3rd, etc why can't we remember them by their names - A, C, D, E... Wouldn't that make more sense? Thanks.

I really loved your video and found it very helpful, I tried learning the guitar or at least getting started a couple times by now and always got discouraged by not knowing where to start and in the end I was frustrated.
But thanks to your video I think I have a solid daily practice routine now from where I can evolve better than before appreciate you a lot !
