  • Celeriac is a great vegetable to make soup with. Very aromatic, a little bit sweet and available the whole year round - make sure to get your hands on some celeriac! So today, a healthy soup with celeriac and MSC certified sustainable caught smoked mackerel. Enjoy!

    Should come down to the Florida gulf. The king mackerel have been in large schools this year.

    I've never heard about celeriac. Guess I'll have to grow my own because it looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.

    That celeriac soup looks lush. I usually throw some halibut in my cream soup kind of poaching it but I've not tried mackerel . See ya next Fishy Friday and happy Easter

    Amazing dish Bart! Definitely going to make this one. Would you add a chilli or flakes for some spice?

      I often add paprika, cayenne pepper and/or nutmeg to my celeriac soup (never tried with mackerel though).

    Hey bart! I love this recipe, soups are my favourite things to make! However a lot of my friends and family are not fond of mackerel, is there another kind of delicious seafood you'd recommend?

    Beautiful recipe Chef. Very well done. I wish Celeriac was more readily available here in my area, also chervil is not easy to find. I am always looking to experiment with new ingredients and have yet to use those 2.

    If I can't get a celeriac, which veg would be a good substitution ?

    • @IanLoughead
      @IanLoughead 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically potatoes would work. Different flavour, but similar starchiness.

    Speaking of salt...I've noticed that you use ordinary Morton's table salt in the majority of your videos. The question is; Why do all the other cooking chefs use Kosher, Sea, Himalayan pink and even Hawaiian volcanic black? Is there such a dramatic difference between them to warrant the additional cost?

    • @leighburville2717
      @leighburville2717 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With my family and friends we are totally sold on Himalayan pink looking salt for its mineral profile. After a Saturday night of movies and copious bowls of sslted, buttery popcorn we old folks with the high blood pressure don't feel the least bit crappy the next morning... whereas in the previous years of using Morton's normal table salt we always woke up the next morning feeling kinda wonky, like all worn out.. . and we all feel a bit better after any kind of salty comfort food. So try it. It's not all that expensive anymore. Make sure it has the seals of organic certification on the package which means you'll be getting the real deal and not some cheap fake.

    Celeriac with crushed coriander seeds roasted in the oven before using it in the recipe.👍🏻

      What is your question Hermann?

    • @hermiheadbarbiq1306
      @hermiheadbarbiq1306 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you think, how long can I keep fish in the freezer? I have some self caught fish there, vacuum and -18-20 degrees...and I am not sure, what to do with it...

    • @Bartsfishtales
      @Bartsfishtales  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Hermann, that would depend. Fat fish like salmon, tuna or mackerel will keep for approximately 2-3 months while lean fish like cod will keep for longer, up to 6 months.
