I have been working hard on this. I have a question about the opening chords. You go from an A5 to a D7 that involves a jump with the hand. I have worked out a different way, with more economy of motion, and I would like your thoughts on it. It's easy for a teacher, I know, to say, "Whatever sounds good to you is what sounds good to you," but I would like to hear any feedback on why you do or don't like this approach. It has some (but not all) rootless voicings, and can therefore make some shapes do double duty, plus I toss in a sharped half-diminished chord at the end, why not:
    C-E-G-B: Am9
    C-E-F#-A: D9
    D-F#-G-B: Gmaj7
    C-E-G-B: CmaJ
    C-E-F#-A: F#m7#5
    B-D#-F#-A: B7
    B-D-E-G: Em7
    B-D-F-G#: E#min7#5
Is it considered bad form to have one shape be a rootless chord and a rooted chord shortly afterward? The C-E-G-B for example.

I agree. Maybe we have a couple versions of Les Feuilles Mortes in our ear, that are also free of any jazzy sounds. Well, from now on everybody will associate Germany with this song.

jonny mercer ? I thought it was by Joseph Kosma [music] and Jacques Prevert [lyrics -careful how you spell that surname ] and was originally called ''Les Feuilles Mortes '' [''Dead Leaves ''-so glad that was changed to ''Autumn'' ] . But who cares ? this is the best arrangement I have ever heard : simple but hauntingly beautiful . I cannot resist inserting a couple of ascending scales on the first page -to signify the leaves falling [old habits die hard ] but otherwise playing it exactly as written. Definitely a masterpiece . Perhaps you will do ''Autumn in New York '' someday ? I like the Al Haig version but slower than he plays it . Thankyou for this lovely rendition .
