      @@chipcook5346 oh because it doesn’t have indoor plumbing? Lol. I lived in an old federal style 275 year old American house for 26 years. It didn’t have central heating except for the grate in the floor in the central hall fired by what had been a coal furnaces but was upgraded to natural gas. The dog and the cats spent most of their time on that grate when the fan went on until it got to hot to bear. Still a house with four bedrooms, living formal dining and cold as hell kitchen got pretty nippy in the winter in upstate New York. I only rented it so I couldn’t put in a wood stove but even with all the issues I still love old houses. Oh, and we did have indoor plumbing. Lol

    It seems that Joanna’s passing brought her spirit the insight she lacked in life.
    This is both a cautionary tale, and message of hope.
    I found your telling to be fascinating and enthralling, which was beyond my expectation. You’ve most certainly earned a new subscriber today.
    Greetings, and much appreciation, from flood-ravaged Far North Coast NSW.

      @@janettemccubbin8246 Yes, or " you never see a hearse pulling a Uhaul ". This life is like playing a video game with in game purchases. The minute you die, you're taken out of the game, and everything you bought while playing, stays behind. I think that's where ghosts come from ( maybe?); people who are so attached to the material 🌎 world, that when they realize they are dead ,instead of going to the light, they stay where their stuff is. Now, they are stuck in between; they can't go on to Heaven or the afterlife, and if they stay in the material world to be near their houses and stuff, most people can't see them. They can't really interact with people the same way anymore because they no longer have a body, and they can't use their things. So, someone new moves into their house, and they are still hanging around there, because they were too attached to leave.
      It seems to me that this is why there are two main kinds of NDEs ( excluding people who see hell, lol. Not that many people admit to that). You either leave your things, and go towards the light, which is where you see your loved ones waiting for you, or you refuse to accept that you are dead, and stay near your house and your body, trying to get people to see you or get their attention. They are usually the ones that say there was no afterlife, because they weren't willing to leave their body or house to go and see. Just my opinion. I've been reading books on this since the 70s, when Dr. Raymond Moody started writing books about people's experiences.

    The next of kin should've gotten her money, you can't just say, oh, I have her milk for a month, so her money is ours, how much money was there, oh, but you served gin and cake, yeah, with aunties money. Rose should've gotten her belongings, laws are there for a reason,her last wishes weren't give the money and belongings to you, auntie probably wanted the church to get it. By the way, I love the delivery and voicing of the story, I close my eyes and your voice takes me to the actual town and era. Thank you so much for enjoyable conveyance if this story. 🙏

      The next of kin was the wheelwrights wife so in effect she did inherit minus the money for the funeral and a donation to the church. I'm just annoyed that aunties death shroud wasn't made of the fine linen.

    Moral of the story: don’t steal from the dead! (Not that anyone should need a story to know this, basic respect if you ask me)

    • @wisdomoftheearlychristians2037
      @wisdomoftheearlychristians2037 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      yes, I agree; but I think people do need to be told. Maybe today more than ever, because people steal from the living and as long as they aren't caught, they don't see anything wrong with it. It's just finders keepers.
      I always feel weird when I hear about cemeteries being moved, or people opening Graves, mounds or pyramids and just taking things for themselves, putting them in museums or selling them to collectors. It's still someone's grave; I couldn't do it. I think the guilt would give me nightmares.

    • @lillipopswitch
      @lillipopswitch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@wisdomoftheearlychristians2037 I agree. At what point do they decide it’s no longer a grave and it’s now a relic to be seen by all😞 Of course the history and the beauty is fascinating, but the lack of respect for the dead out ways it all for me. There are many other ways to learn/see/understand history, leave the dead to rest.

    A lot of people here saying this is why you "shouldn't steal from the dead" but, personally, I don't think the couple stole anything. The wife definitely should have done Joanna the decency of burying her in her fine linen, since especially in those days, that was most likely what it was being saved for. Joanna had no one to care for her after her death and while alive wanted nothing to do with her only relative. I feel the couple did her a kindness and, once departed, the old woman's spirit gained insight about her life and wanted to right her last wrong.

    Zennor is a VERY long walk to and from St. Ives - especially during Victorian times when the roads were not so developed. I am English born an bred and have noticed such discrepancies at this when you tell spooky stories which supposedly happened in England,. Check out Henry Quick of Zennor - you probably will say he came from Glasgow!!! :)

    • @charmaynebruce6215
      @charmaynebruce6215 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a mere FIVE miles from St Ives to St Senara, the church which is in the center of Zennor Village. This story was based on a ghost story written by Reverend Sabine Baring Gould in early 1900s; not 'made up' by Weird World. Finding facts before accusations makes the world a nicer place.
